Canales still not sold on Bryce?
Davidson Deac II replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Of course he isn't sold on Young. No one in their right mind would be. Might be a little encouraged though. -
You know this tanking thing might have some merit. Miami tanked, and now they are one of the, well they still suck. Cleveland had more top five draft picks than just about all the teams in the NFL, and now they are, well they still suck. Detroit did tank unintentionally for 15-20 years, and now it is finally paying off. On second thought, tanking sucks. Good draft picks, good coaching, good free agent moves lead to winning. And building a winning culture is a big deal to and you don't build a winning culture by intentionally losing. The Chiefs are the best team in the NFL, and they never tanked. They had a winning culture, and then made one of the best trades in NFL history to move up a few spots to get Mahomes with the 10th pick in the draft. Had they tanked, they might have drafted Mitch Trubisky.

The defense has been beaten up by incompetent offenses (Bears, Broncos and even the Raiders). Actually holding down an incompetent offense is an improvement. Not a big one, but an improvement nonetheless.

A currency native Americans used a few hundred years ago. Which is why I thought, what an odd last name.

I was listening to the radio broadcast. I swear I thought they said DJ wampum

Bears offensive line may be worse, but their offense overall is better. Statistically, the Giants offense is the worst in the NFL. But as I said, it was still a good showing. In truth, the defense has played better overall the last few weeks. I thought they played well against the Saints at least in terms of the pass defense. The run defense still needs a lot of work.
-
I agree it looked better. We no longer look historically bad. But we still need to make a lot of additions in the offseason. But playing against the Giants does help statistically.

Baker is playing well, but their team overall is very inconsistent. Wins over Detroit and Washington, very bad home losses to Denver and Atlanta. But they have had a rough schedule. They are fortunate that five of their last six games are against teams with losing records. But losing twice to Atlanta really hurts their chance at the division.

Agreed. The yard total is irrelevant. All that matters is that when he threw, he made more than he missed. And he threw the ball down the field several times. Not to many side/outlet passes. I still don't think he is going to be the guy going forward, but it was nice to see some improvement that gives slight hope.

The Texans uniforms remind me of the movie Tron.

After watching the Cowgals today, I am not so sure it shouldn't be the other way around. They looked far worse than the Saints or Giants.
-
Well, I am sure he can console himself with all the Superbowl rings. lol
-
In fairness to Burns, not much he can do about them having the worst offense in the NFL.
-
If we beat the Cowgals, that might be Mccarthy's last game.

The Cowboys are horrible, which is almost as great as watching the Broncos/Payton lose in a terrible fashion. I wonder what Bayless is thinking these days.

I watched the highlights on youtube, which showed four of his nine sacks. On two of them, he held on to the ball to long. On the other two, they got to him before he could react. So a mix, at least for those four. Holding on to the ball to long could be fixed, with the right staff. Not so sure about the other.
-
I didn't watch, but did he get sacked because he was extending plays, holding on to the ball to long, or were they getting thru before he had a chance to even set up?
-
Based just on today's results, I would add Daniel Jones in there as well. He may have had more yards per attempt, but when you throw to the other team, that negates everything else.
-
Yeap. Receivers drop passes, qb's mess up throws, coaches make bad calls, defenders get burned. I never get annoyed when one or two of these things happen in a game. In the end, the team that wins is usually the team that makes fewer of those mistakes.

Panthers vs. Giants in München
Davidson Deac II replied to Chief_Chokeaho's topic in Carolina Panthers
I suppose it depends on your definition of tanking. I don't consider a couple of trades tanking. The CMC trade for us wasn't tanking, just getting draft picks for a guy who wasn't healthy much. And they wanted to play Howell and see what they had. Tanking to me is what Miami did a few years ago, when they basically got rid of a lot of players, and it hasn't got them much other than the ability to challenge for a wildcard spot. -
I couldn't watch.....who impressed today?

Pinero was 2-2, and hit his longest fg of the season. -
I noticed the same thing. Passing yards across the board seemed to have dropped. And points as well. So far for this week, only three teams have surpassed the 30 point total, two of them in one game.
