  1. I guess we just saw why he is a backup. What a terrible decision. Throw it away earlier, or take the sack.
  2. And he does seem to learn from his mistakes and deals better with crunch time pressure. Not sure if he will ever be elite, but the number of elite qb's is so small, that the odds of getting one are very slim. We are going to give Young at least one more year to see if he is good enough to help the team become a contender. As we should.
  3. Does Mahomes not count as highly drafted? He was top 10. But I generally agree. Drafting a QB in the top five is not usually successful. QB is such a crapshoot anyway.
  4. If memory serves, Andy Reid went to the Superbowl in his sixth season as a head coach. And Donovan Mcnabb was in his sixth season as well. That being said, I think that is more because the vast majority of coaches don't last more than five years unless they win a superbowl. For that matter, the vast majority of NFL don't make it much past 3 years.
  5. We played three division winners, along with wildcard teams Buffalo, San Francisco, Green Bay and Los Angeles. I doubt the schedule would be much tougher next year. The division might be though.
  6. Regarding the early games, it will help a lot if we have some consistency in the receiving corps. In the early part of this season, his best receiver was a rookie, his go to guy (Thielen) went to another team, and if memory serves, Sanders and Coker were injured. And Leggette has some issues. I think some of you greatly under estimate how important familarity and being in sync with receivers can be for a QB.
  7. This is definitely, beyond a doubt, the right move. Bryce improved this year. In part because he got more comfortable, and in large part due to having better receivers. If he continues to improve, then sign him long term. If not, then get ready to draft someone else.
  8. Both QB's played poorly. I do think that NE is a much tougher out for them. If Stroud plays like he did last night, they could easily get blown out. But if Stroud avoids the mistakes, the Texans defense is good enough to win the game for them.
  9. The team has gotten a little better in each of DC's seasons. All I want is continued improvement. If it keeps up, by year four, we might be a legit contender.
  10. Purdy has one of the better offensive coaches in the NFL on the sidelines. That helps a little.
  11. It will be interesting to see how they react to facing a defense like the Texans.
  12. Well, if they had a time machine to look at the future, they could have picked up Tyler Shough in the draft. I sorta wish they had.
  13. I won't be surprised if Malik ends up in Pittsburgh. And unless the Steelers revamp their offense, it will not go well for him.
  14. Tom Brady at Tampa has everyone going for the guy who was great getting one more chance at a ring. But Brady was an exception, AR was not as good as Brady, and Brady had great receivers and a good defense at Tampa. AR has a good defense, but the offensive talent is not there.
  15. I was going to say Seattle/Texan Superbowl, but that works to. Then again, Seattle Texas would likely end up being 14 - 10, with two defensive scores for Seattle and One for Houston.
  16. IMO, Chambliss performed just as well as Indiana's qb. But my point was this. Oregon's first half offensive possessions went like this last night. Pick 6 to start the game. Drive for a TD Punt Fumble which led to a Indiana TD. Punt Fumble which led to an Indiana TD. Missed fg. The offense essentially gave Indiana 3 td's. Alabama wasn't quite as bad, but when down 3-0, they made a bad call to go for it on 4th on their own side of the field, and didn't make it. Led to an Indiana TD. Then they had a fumble when they were about to move into fg range. Indiana scored a td there as well. From 3-0 to 17-0 in a couple of series, due to Alabama mistakes. If Miami can avoid mistakes like that, they have a shot. Maybe not a good one, but a shot nonetheless.
  17. Not that it means a lot, but Miami handled Ohio State much easier than Indiana did. I believe that is their only common opponent. Both of Indiana's cfp opponents had early costly mistakes. If Miami can avoid those, then they have a shot. If not, it will likely be a long night for them.
  18. Watching them play for the last month or so, not sure I agree. Their defense has been terrible for the last month and a half or so. And winning in post season is usually about the defense. Defense and run game is why the Seahawks are probably going to be the NFC rep in the Superbowl.
  19. I am happy with the way things turned out. We looked bad early, but with two of our losses coming against two of the three best teams we played (Jacksonville, NE, and Seattle). Now we just need to keep improving next year.
  20. Not sure if i agree. Rico is more explosive and runs just as well early in the game as he does late. Hubbard seems to be more of a gets better as the game goes along type, but i think he needs our interior line healthy. He also seems to be hesitant right now, and waits to long. He might get better as the season rolls along.
  21. In fairness, the Jets have played virtually everyone tough. Two point losses to the Steelers, Bucs, and Broncos. Only the Bills blew them out. They have a defense that has played well at times. Regarding the Dolphins, early turnovers put us in a hole, but we played very well after the first qtr.
  22. I suppose it depends on the definition of elite. I wouldn't consider Baker elite, but he is probably top 10 or 15 in the NFL.
  23. I forgot about Burrow, he is elite when healthy.
