  1. Wonder how long it will be before the four years of eligibility goes away? What is to stop a player from playing 6 or 8 years to get his doctorate in basket weaving?
  2. Probably had a lot to do with our run for three yards, throw for two yards, and on third, run for three or get sacked, offense last year.
  3. Simms list and 5 bucks will buy a modern cup of coffee.
  4. While I don't think we should go after Dak, Dallas has been choking in the playoffs for 20 plus years. Can't really blame it on Dak. I think it's because they are decent to good enough to win the division or make it as a wildcard, but usually not as good as the media makes them out to be. They lost to better teams. Take last years game. Yeah, Dak sucked. But Dallas's supposedly stellar defense last year was abused by the Packers. Two of the first three td drives for the Packers were long drives where Green Bay ran and threw as they pleased. And then when Dallas was trying to get back in the game, that supposedly great defense gives up a 27 yard run and this gem. If there was a choke, it was a team effort.
  5. If Bryce doesn't work out, we should be in position to draft someone. So no.
  6. Not drafting one doesn't mean we are necessarily happy. Could just mean there was no one we really liked. Or that there were other players we liked more.
  7. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if that happened. We might take a shot with say a fourth rounder if there is someone the staff likes.
  8. If (and its a big if) they get two good years out of Cousins and 8-10 good years out of this guy, then I don't see it as a problem.
  9. What is extremely rare? Taking a young quarterback when you have a starter? If that is what you are referring to, at one time it wasn't that rare.
  10. 2020 was one of the best qb classes in recent memory. Joe Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Jordan Love, and Hurts. Getting five starting qb's out of a single draft class is very rare. We could have taken Hurts or Love. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, and if we had taken Love with our first round pick, our fans would have been howling, as Falcon fans are now. But it probably would have been the right move. But I agree, Rhule was a fool who made one significant mistake after another.
  11. I get what they are doing, going for long term sustained success instead of short term gain. Cousins gives them the ability to compete now, and in two or three years, if they think Pennix can play, they cut or trade Cousins and go with Pennix for the foreseeable future. Akin to what Green Bay did with Favre, Rogers, and now Love. If it works out for Green Bay and Atlanta, might see other teams do the same thing. Personally, I wish we had let Cam play out his contract and drafted a younger guy that same year, instead of cutting cam and the ridiculous signing of TB.
  12. And a passing game works great when you have prime Brady or Mahomes. Unfortunately, getting those types of players is even harder. I think the coach will go heavy run this year so we don't have to rely on Bryce much. And if turns out Bryce can actually play, we work in the passing game more and more over the next few years. And if he can't, we draft someone else next year. Sucks, but imo those are the only choices we have at this point.
  13. Well, I just hope he can turn us into a winning football team.
  14. Or they might suck just as bad as they have the last few years. QB's picked at the top of the draft don't always live up to their billing.
  15. I started to watch, saw the fantasy title at the bottom, no thanks.
  16. I think the mistake some teams make is focusing to much on certain players. Personally, I would prefer to have more picks, especially when it comes to the 2nd and 3rd round. Much greater chance of hitting.
  17. 25% of day 2/3 picks would be phenomenal. NFL Draft Pick Bust Rate Remains Very High - Daily Norseman Assuming the 30% includes first round picks, and that a draft success means the play spends significant amounts of time playing for the team that drafted him, a 25% success rate for day 2/3 picks would be well above average.
  18. How many receivers have ever put a team over the top with a poor quarterback?
  19. I just meant the circumstances were similar, but certainly not identical. In the end, the only thing that matters is how well Pennix plays one of these days.
  20. Regarding Arod being new, that is not really my point. My point is that Packer fans felt that Love was a reach and that the Packers needed help to actually win a Superbowl. If Pennix takes over qb in three years and plays well, no one will care when he was drafted. And the main point of drafting anyone is to make the team better. For Pennix, the GM was thinking a couple of years down the road, not now. And to put the team in a position for sustained long term success. Only time will tell if that philosophy will work. It probably won't work, but then the majority of draft picks down work out as well as teams hope they will.
  21. Meh, many Packer fans felt the same way about Jordan Love, but I think they are ok with him now.
