Statistically for his career, he is average. As far as our offense, the offensive line was not very good and the run game was below average with CMC out. Not that I am defending Bridgewater. My issues with him last year were not his overall play, nor his less than stellar deep passing ability. It was his terrible play during crunch time. For most of the season, he would play fairly well for most of the game, then fall apart in the fourth qtr. Which is why we lost so many close games.

Texans planned to trade Watson before lawsuits
Davidson Deac II replied to Ocpanthertew714's topic in Carolina Panthers
So about 51% of the population wouldn't believe it. -
You are not completely wrong. I worked for a bank back then, and part of the problem was that banks stopped caring how high the mortgage was or if the borrower could really afford it, so the prices could and did outstrip the value. It was more of an issue out west, but people bought houses they couldn't afford, and banks knew it and loaned them the money anyway. The banks could repackage the loans into investments and sell them and make a lot of money. Banks get criticized for saying no to some people, but in 08 and the years leading up to it, they didn't say no enough.

Go on record. Who still wants Watson?
Davidson Deac II replied to Sasquatch's topic in Carolina Panthers
At this point, I don't think its going to play out very well for Watson. Or the Texans for that matter. Went from having one of the best young qb's in the league, to getting two or three first round picks for him if they follow thru on his trade demands, to the possibility of him not being able to play for a while and not getting any picks for him. -
The NFL's Biggest Pot Smokers are...

Please leave Cowboy fans out of this discussion. -
He goes to a good team, with not a lot of pressure. He gets to watch and learn from another young qb, and Buffalo has decent offensive talent, so if he does play due to injury, he doesn't have to carry the team. And he gets paid well to do it. And he might even have a shot at a ring. Very good scenario for him.

Panthers losing G/C Tyler Larsen
Davidson Deac II replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Their defense was good last year and should be better next year. If the offense is only barely adequate, the win could easily win 10-11 games. -
If this is true (and I don't think it is), I am surprised Watson thinks Denver has more talent than Miami. If Miami had Watson this year, they likely challenge the Bills/Chiefs for the AFC championship instead of just barely missing the playoffs.

Patriot fans seem excited that Cams back
Davidson Deac II replied to mrcompletely11's topic in Carolina Panthers
Personally I thought the defense got better over the last 6-8 games. Still not great, but they at least made the other team punt on a somewhat regular basis. They were horrific in 2019, bad in 2020, maybe we can get to halfway decent in 2021 and good in 2022. -
Take your objectivity and common sense away from here buddy. We won't have none of that.
-
I think its more because of where he was drafted than anything. He was a top five pick, and to some that means a lot. Personally, I wouldn't mind signing him and giving him a try, as long as the contract is cheap/not long term. But I have a feeling some qb needy team will pay him more than we should. Which is ironic since he is leaving a qb needy team.
-
His salary and cap number last year was 7.2 million. Which puts him as the 28th highest paid linebacker for last year if memory serves. If we cut him next year, that will mean his average pay for the years he played under this contract will be around 10 million per year. Which places him in the 20's for linebackers, and outside the top 10 for inside linebackers. In the end, that is what impacts us the most. He will be an average linebacker making average money. Of course, that is if we cut him. That remains to be seen.
-
I was talking about his overall contract, not one specific year. His guaranteed money is low after this year. In fact, according to overthecap.com, the cap savings are 21 million in 22/23 if we cut him after this season. And that may happen.
-
Shaq is a big hit this year, but this is probably the worst year in terms of his pay. Overall, his contract was't that bad, and the savings if we cut him grow exponentially the next two years.

Richard Sherman thinks Mac Jones criticized unfairly
Davidson Deac II replied to panthers55's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wasn't referring to just this season. Alabama usually has more talent than any team they face, regardless of the season. Its always more difficult to assess their ability to play in the NFL. Of course, because they get so much talent, they get more players in the NFL. Which is why I would never want to be an NFL scout. -

And Mac could have the same ability. But we don't really know. Playing for Bama, he probably didn't have to move around in the pocket much. They are much more talented than the majority of their opponents. That is why it is so difficult to predict how good these guys are going to be when they have play in the NFL with more talent parity. -
I don't think there was a big Cameo.
-
I have to admit I didn't care for the first 2-3 episodes. I didn't like 50's/60's television when I was young, don't much care for it now. But it definitely got better as the show went along. They should have done a Mordo cameo.
-
I think it usually hurts them because they don't go thru the conference wars, and aren't as battle tested as some teams. But I think if they make it to the final four, they will generate some interest with them being undefeated (assuming they still are).

In some ways, this college bball season is more interesting than most. Kentucky and Duke are both not good, and UNC is only a little better. That shake up will make the tournament far more interesting.
-
Whether I personally like or dislike Russel Wilson is irrelevant to me. He is a good qb, and would likely make them one of if not the favorite in the NFC south for the next 5-10 years. So I definitely don't want him to go to any division rival. In fact, I would prefer he go play in the AFC.

Are you on the "Verge" of one? I will see myself out.

But the question would be, do Rhule/Brady want to spend capital on a pass catching TE? We really don't know the answer to that at this point I think
-
Good chance Cam will be Patriots starter in 2021

There isn't a soul alive who would not be badmouthed by someone on the huddle. Nature of the beast so to speak. And fwiw, the huddle is no different in that regard than most other social media sites. -
Love him or hate him....he's spot on. Steve Smith
Davidson Deac II replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
They went thru a stretch where they couldn't force a punt, but they were definitely better in the second half of the season than the first. Still not great, but definitely improved. The defense this year was significantly better than last year, although that is not saying much.
