Eagles - Falcons MNF game thread?

Struggling kicker with a long kick that only gives you a one point lead and three minutes left with a not so good defense? That seems like a no brainer in going for it. -

Philly's d has picked it up this half. The int got things going for them, gave the offense an easy score. And they have held Atlanta to a pair of fg's. Still anyone's game though. -

Should have been another pick there. They got a little lucky. -

Well, Matt Ryan trying to get Philly back in the game. -
Three offensive linemen got mentioned. Can't help but like that.

With the exception perhaps of quarterback, no one player will make or break an offense. -

That does suck. Time for the others to pick it up. -

The entire body has to be past the line of scrimmage as well as the ball. Doesn't matter if the feet are down or not. http://static.nfl.com/static/content/public/image/rulebook/pdfs/11_Rule8_ForwardPass_BackPass_Fumble.pdf Note: It is a forward pass from beyond the line of scrimmage if the passer’s entire body and the ball are beyond the line of scrimmage when the ball is released, whether the passer is airborne or touching the ground. The penalty for a forward pass thrown from beyond the line is enforced from the spot where the ball is released. -

That was a good play call and better execution. -
I don't know. I am not sure how much we can really glean from a preseason game regarding the performance of any unit. I vaguely remember a preseason a few years ago in which our defensive line dominated, and lead the preseason in sacks. And then it seems we had one of our worse seasons regarding defensive pressure. I could be wrong though. And how many games do we see during the season when a offensive line (or any other unit) starts out struggling and then settles down as the game goes on? Since they will only be playing a few series, there is no time to settle down. IMO, its more interesting to see how various individuals perform, especially those that are borderline on making the team.

I wasn't necessarily suggesting he would be the starter. But if and when injuries occur, it would be nice to be able to play Oher at right tackle, since Remmer seems more adaptable and might be better able to fill in at other spots.

Didn't Oher do better at the right tackle? If Williams can play the left and Oher plays well enough at right, that would seem to solve our problems, at least temporarily. Of course, this could just be the coaches wanting to get more of the olinemen experienced at various positions in case of injury.

Hard to form an impression of any player based on one clip from training camp. Truth is we won't know what we have in Oher or Alexander until a few games into the season.
