  1. Hiring bad coaches happens. Almost all franchises have a number of coaches they wish they hadn't hired. Normally, they get fired after 2-3 years and the franchise moves on. But if Fields or Jones ends up being a good long term qb, the franchise could in theory be kicking itself for years over this move.
  2. Brown almost pulled a Ricky Bobby. He definitely isn't right upstairs. Reminds me a little of Charles Haley, although Haley tended to keep it together on the field at least.
  3. If he won today and next week, he would be a panther next season. Of course, he probably will anyway.
  4. Definitely. A rookie qb is a rookie qb regardless of age. 2 years or 4 years in college doesn't really prepare you for the NFL.
  5. Personally, IF I did draft a qb like Pickett or Howell, he sits the entire first year, ala Mahomes. Then spend every remaining pick on the oline, spend next years picks on the oline, spend most of our free agent dollars on the oline. In the meantime, throw Darnold out there since we have to pay him an arm and a leg next year.
  6. The reverse is also true. Our qb's are atrocious, regardless of who is on the oline. Give Sam time to throw, and the number of interceptions go up exponentially.
  7. Our offensive line is not good. But the sacks probably kept him from more interceptions.
  8. For us older fans, Sean Gilbert was worse. Kalil might be as bad. But yeah, Darnold was a predictably terrible move.
  9. But if you watch the good ones, they almost always get the ball out in three seconds or less, even when throwing it 20 plus yards. Being able to get it out quick and accurate is the most important factor in an NFL qb, imo.
  10. Read thru the thread, its not. No doubt the oline is not good. But we are horrible when it comes to getting the ball out quickly.
  11. Vince Lombardi is dead. And still might be a better NFL coach than Rhule.
  12. We will either get a td and fail to get the two point conversion. Or Darnold will throw a pick.
  13. Announcer, this has been a defensive game. In reality, both teams have horrid offenses. The Aints due to injury, and us due to, well basic incompetence.
  14. After he spun around and it also hit the defenders hands.
  15. Regarding DJ's drop, that was all on Darnold. He threw it behind DJ, and almost into the arms of the defender. Lucky it wasn't picked off.
  16. Yeah, if you watch him, his interceptions mostly come when he has time to throw.
  17. Haven't forgotten anything. Bridgewater is a average, and maybe below average qb. He would be a good backup for a Superbowl contender But Sam Darnold is not an NFL qb.
  18. I agree that the odds are less than 50%, but I think the odds are less than 50% for almost any class. I think the odds are less than 50% overall for last year's class. In fact, if you look at it realistically, there are may 10-15 solid qb's in the NFL right now. And probably 3 or so are drafted in the first round every year. So it would seem that well over 50% of qb's drafted in the first round don't succeed.
  19. I think the Aints will kick at least three more field goals. Only way we win is if Hill throws a couple of picks.
  20. I know that our offensive line is bad, but dam we seem to get the ball out of the qb's hands slower than just about any team in the NFL.
