  1. Well said. Truly elite qb's are rare, and getting one involves a certain amount of luck. And of all the elite qb's in the NLF right now, only a couple of them were picked in the top 10 (Mahomes and maybe Burrow if he can stay healthy). If we draft someone this year and he turns into a Ryan, I would be happy with that. The trick with that kind of qb is to put the right team around him.
  2. None of you have a clue how this years qb class will turn out. Could be as bad as you think, or there could be a couple of hall of famers in it. Or something in between. Last year's qb class was supposed to be a great one, and so far only Jones and Mills have looked decent to good. That could change of course, but so far, they have been meh.
  3. If they draft well, the Texans are going to be able to put a heck of a team around Davis Mills.
  4. Not if they trade all their picks for him. The Saints actually did something like that once before.
  5. He is a good cornerback. We don't need cornerbacks.
  6. Cowboys cut La'el Collins. Cowboys releasing offensive lineman La'el Collins (nfl.com) Seems like he plays well when he is not injured or suspended. Might end up in Cincy.
  7. At least if we draft someone, we have hope that they will be good. With Jimmy G, its just another Teddy Bridgewater.
  8. I thought it was building solid teams, then bringing in a great veteran near the end of his career to take that team to the next level (Stafford, Brady at Tampa, Manning). Fwiw, I don't think there is any one way. But your way would probably work, if we hadn't screwed up the qb situation so much.
  9. Almost as many as Dan Marino in his sophomore season. TD's are a great stat for a offense as a whole. For a single player, they aren't as meaningful. In addition to a qb who throws them, need a oline that protects, and a receiver that catches. Here is what I want out of a qb. The ability to throw the ball accurately under pressure and make good decisions, especially when the game is on the line. Other things like great arm strength, mobility, etc.. are good things to have, but this is the key to being a good NFL qb. Everything else is less important.
  10. I have no idea if Pickett will be a good NFL qb, but then neither does anyone else here. But the narrative that Pickett was only good one year is absurd. He was actually good the two years before, but Pitt sucked. In 2019, he had almost 3100 yards passing, 62% completion rate, a 122 qb rating, and only 9 picks. And unlike guys like Burrow and Lawrence, he wasn't surrounded with a bevy of NFL receivers.
  11. So if we sign Justin Watson the practice squad, can I create a new thread?
  12. Might be right, who knows. I take everything I read nowadays with a grain of salt. Or maybe you are the PI they hired, and you are just here trying to distract us.
  13. I am not saying it's true, and in fact I don't really care if it is true, or if they are doing it. It could be a complete fabrication, or it could be a rumor that isn't true. But things like that are difficult to keep secret. In my experience, some people like to tell others about interesting things whether they should or not. Those people could be a secretary that handled the booking and the payment, or someone else that works for either organization. And the Panthers hiring an PI to investigate would be interesting.
  14. There is a 100% chance that someone would know this. For example, the one they hired and anyone that worked for him or her. Whether they would tell somebody in the press is anyone's guess.
  15. And Bridgewater. He is actually better than anyone we have had since 2017 Cam Newton.
  16. I don't have a problem with taking Pickett, or any of the college qb's with the first round pick. Most of the predictions regarding college qb's success in the NFL are just guesswork anyway, so whomever we draft has as the more hyped qb's do. There is a part of me though that says Rhule wanted the trade with the Jets for Darnold. He made his bed, he should have to lie in it. Either turn Darnold into a decent qb, or find another job next year.
  17. Doesn't seem like we will be at this point. Fwiw, I think Reddick would be a great piece to have if we felt we were close to challenging for a SB title. But until we get the qb situation resolved, I don't see much point in signing him for a ton of money.
  18. He only has to get one team to agree to it.
  19. ACC POY - Alondes Williams ACC COY - Steve Forbes First team All ACC Williams Bacot Banchero McGusty Boeheim Frosh of the year Banchero Defensive Player of the year Mark WIlliams, Duke
  20. Wouldn't need Chase Young. I would tell them, a third round pick and absorb some of his Cap his next year, and he is yours. Or maybe just the third round pick.
  21. We are probably not as far away talent wise as many here think. Two good olinemen and a QB would put us in position to contend, if we had a different coaching staff (a big if). Of course, getting a good qb is the trick. They aren't that easy to get, and Bridgewater II, I mean Garapalo ain't it.
  22. We brought Darnold in knowing he on the field issues, and he predictably failed. If we had brought in Watson, knowing that he had off the field issues, no reason to think he wouldn't have failed eventually either. We have screwed this up so many times. It's an indication of gross incompetence. Good quarterbacks aren't coming here via trade or free agency. We are going to have to draft someone and hope it works out.
  23. Personally, I prefer someone who can get the ball out quick and accurate over someone who can run around and buy time scrambling. IMO, that is what separates great qb's from decent to good. Of course, a qb who can do both would be even better.
