But I might be wrong. lol Nice catch and throw.
-
I wish they would kick the fg.
-
Bryce should have kept running. But it wouldn't have mattered with the penalty.
-
yeah, but had they just got in fg range, run the clock, make the kick and then its over. Of course, you could miss the kick. Worked out ok as Cleveland won.

We have to figure out our future core team

Fwiw, I hope Tepper and Morgan take a look around the league and see that chasing qb's is generally stupid. And I hope they learn some lessons. Big trades for established qb's can end up like the Cleveland Deshaun Watson or Jets Rodgers situations. Cleveland especially gave up a lot and got nothing. Jameis Winston is better now than Watson. Tanking has never worked. See Dolphins this year. Trading up for a qb you want is very risky. You give up to much and the odds of getting a great qb are slim. It worked with Mahomes/KC, but it doesn't work often. Best to draft whatever player comes to you and not make crazy trades to move up. -
Well, bad pass then a perfect pass. But Cleveland scored to soon. Lamar has a decent chance at a game winning drive.

Martinez has had a very good night. That being said, FSU's run defense has been bad all year, and tonight certainly hasn't helped.
-
FSU goes for it on 4th down at midfield and the announcers are surprised. They are 1-6, why not go for it? They have nothing to lose.
-
Miami should run the ball more. Martinez and Fletcher are a very good combo.

Breaking news. This ain't breaking news.

Nothing was ruined. While Navy wanted to win, they make or break their season with their last game, ie the biggest rivalry in sports.

UNC hasn't had much of a problem getting qb's. They probably need someone who can improve the defense. Of course, I am not a UNC fan, so ignore that defense coaches.

What would a successful game for Young look like?

For some reason, this made me laugh a little. But it has some truth in it. -
Bryce Young will start Sunday vs Broncos
Davidson Deac II replied to Samppson's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fwiw, we are averaging 4.7 ypc, which puts us in the top half of the league. It's one of the few things we are actually good at. But when you are behind by a lot of points, running games tend to go away. -
No, we don't need to see Bryce Young again

Also Mayfield had some previous success. And Darnold had some with us, after Rhule got canned. Not a lot, but certainly more than Bryce has ever had. -
Dan Graziano: Panthers will trade Diontae Johnson
Davidson Deac II replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Imo, what we need is large numbers of picks. The reality is that with virtually any NFL team, there are going to be picks that fail. The more picks you have, the greater the odds that you will get legitimate players. Which is why I get annoyed when we trade two picks (or in some cases more) to move up a few spots to get one player. So if trading a guy (Johnson) who will not be here next year anyway nets us a third or even a second, great. But just pick the best guy available at that slot, and don't try to move up to get your guy. -
It's been a cascading series of errors with each one worst than the last one. But it all started with not letting Cam play it out and hiring a college coach. I hope they just let things play out this year. No firings, no trading up to draft a specific player, etc...

REPORT: Panthers will not trade Chuba Hubbard
Davidson Deac II replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Regarding trading good players for draft picks, the reality is we are really bad at that. In fairness, over half the teams in the league are bad at it, but when you have our track record, might be a good idea to keep some of the players we developed that are actually decent. -
Sure, but a lot of qb's do that in college. They usually have to learn not to do it in the NFL.
-
His biggest issue in my limited time watching him is holding on to the ball a little long.
-
If you mean Tepper, its pointless to discuss it. He isn't going anywhere. All we can hope for is that he eventually gets better.
-
He looks really good, calm under pressure, good arm strength, some mobility. He does make some wtf plays on occasion though. As with virtually any player, no way to know if his ability will xfer to the NFL.
-
Leggett is still to raw, Johnson is good, but he is not Steve Smith or Randy Moss. Thielen is out and they are sitting on the run. Dalton is an adequate backup and that is it. I don't know if Canales will be a good coach, but I can't fault him for this.
-
I agree, and all this talk about scheme is off base. Bill Walsh couldn't scheme a td for us right now. The offense might look a little better once Thielen and Brooks return. Only a little.
