Can't believe anyone would complain about the officiating in this game. Its been very even. The Eagles are just playing better
-
Other than the fumble, Hurts is having a heck of a game
-
In Panthers history, not sure that is true. Fox hung on to Weinke for several years, and Rivera hung on to Clausen for a year or two. I think Corral will get a shot to see what he can do, but I agree the odds are against him. Although in fairness, the odds are against almost any NFL draft pick.
-
I hope Corral gets a legitimate shot during the upcoming season. I mean the odds are not in his favor, but you never know. Could work out. Let him, perhaps another drafted qb, and a veteran battle it out in training camp, and may the best man win.
-
You may be right, but I am not sure we can pay much attention to what happened under Rhule. Virtually every qb that played for Rhule looked better on other teams or for other coaches. Sam Darnold looked better under Wilkes than he ever did under Rhule. Baker Mayfield looked like a completely different in LA than he did under Rhule. Under Rhule, he looked scared, timid, and out of place. In Los Angeles, he looked halfway decent.
-
If you are saying Rhule sucks, well you know I agree with you on that. But CMC saying nice things about his new coach isn't something we should read to much into.

If this trade goes thru, the Saints probably become the division favorite. Their defense is still very good, but the offense was anemic, and had a lot of interceptions given that they didn't throw it as much as most teams. If Carr gets them to just an average passing attack, they become the division favorite.

Monsanto is probably the best shooter in the ACC and one of the best in the country. Wish Wake had some better post play to go with the guard play.
-
Yeah, with Carr this year, the Aint's probably win the division if he stays healthy. Carr may not be Pat Mahomes, but he is certainly better than Dalton or Taysom Hill.

For me, it was the Pittsburgh game that did Wilkes in. We were in a position to be in the drivers seat for the NFC south, but Pitt came in and dominated us on both lines of scrimmage, even though they had a back up qb. They just ran it down our throats, and we couldn't stop the pass either. Atlanta did a better job defensively against them than we did.

I do think the schools have some say in it. They almost have to, especially since many of the arenas are multi use. But yeah, Duke may not have had much of a choice.
-
Me to, although I think we would have to give up more than a mid round pick. In truth though, I think Love is going to be the Green Bay starter at Rogers will be looking at other places.
-
I am curious as to why Duke agreed to schedule a game at Miami two days after the big rivalry game. I didn't think they would win this one, although it was a lot more one sided than I thought it would be

Absolute and Absolutely NOTS Quarterback 2023
Davidson Deac II replied to Kick's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wish Tepper could just read this, say ok, draft someone, and have them magically turn into that guy. Unfortunately, its actually really difficult to get an elite qb. Even if you have the top pick in the draft, you could end up with Jalen Hurts or Pat Mahomes, but you could just as easily end up with Jameis Winston or Baker Mayfield. Actually, we did end up with Baker Mayfield. That being said, I do hope they draft a qb. -
More NIL drama. This time in college basketball

Boheim said a stupid thing. He specifically called out Wake and Pitt for "buying" teams. Which is absurd. Jim Boeheim says he calls the shots on his retirement, claims Pitt, Wake Forest, Miami 'bought' their teams - CBSSports.com Boheim did later retract his statement about Wake and Pitt. But his comments are ironic given that he had wins vacated for impermissible gifts involving Carmelo Anthony. Might be time for the crazy old coot to retire. -
I went to high school with this guy, at least until he dropped out. He was a real piece of work. Alleged tractor thief charged after chase | Mt. Airy News (mtairynews.com)

Saints could be making a move for Carr
Davidson Deac II replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Payton was stll with the Saints, this would bother me a lot more. Since he is not, all I can say if we get the right qb/player combination, we should be ok. -
The beatings, I mean cuts, will continue until morale improves.

Sell me Justin Fields vs CJ Stroud
Davidson Deac II replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lots of comments about OSU qb lack of success. But given the Bears luck or lack thereof with qb's, they will trade Fields, pick Young, and then Fields will become a star while Young will be a bust. -

There are several hundred college football teams. How could anyone possibly know that? -
I think Sam Darnold has a solid NFL career ahead of him. As a backup QB.
-
How much of Payton's "system" was because he designed his offense around what Drew Brees could do? And does he have the ability to adjust his "system" to another qb. Fwiw, Payton made Teddy Bridgewater and Jameis Winston look better, albeit it short stints. Can he do the same with Wilson? I guess we will find out.

Tepper admits to mistake in hiring Matt Rhule
Davidson Deac II replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, at least one NFL owner hired a high school coach. -

Compared to Saturday, Rhule was over qualified. -
If memory serves, Carroll actually spent some time as New England's head coach before Bill B took over.
