  1. Absolutely. While Richardson may have approved, Gettleman is running the show, probably with some input from Rivera and others. To compare this to Steve Smith is heavily flawed just for that reason alone.
  2. If the OP's premise was accurate, that would make Greg Hardy a NFL version of J.R. Ewing or Tywin Lannister.
  3. Actually it happens quite a bit. Sometimes its better to Settle than face a trial, even if you feel you have a good shot at winning.
  4. How so? If the Panthers were planning on parting ways with him anyway, then this outcome is irrelevant.
  5. I don't think Jersey sales provide an accurate assessment of how the majority of fans feel about a specific player or incident. The fans that buy a specific player's Jersey in those situations could easily be a minority who decide to buy the jersey as a show of support. A outspoken minority perhaps, but still a minority. I seriously doubt the majority of Ravens fans supported keeping Ray Rice, regardless of how many Jersey's he sold. If Hardy is found guilty, imo a majority of fans will agree that not re-signing him is the right thing. If he is not found guilty, the matter among the fans will likely become more complex. But I believe that Hardy is already gone, and the trial is only one of the reasons.
  6. Crap, totally misread that. That is what I get for trying to read it without my glasses.
  7. Seattle will focus on resigning its core on defense. Any free agents they sign will likely be on offense, epecially if Lynch leaves. I don't see NE being a likely destination either. The Bengals would be a good candidate for acquiring Hardy. Cap room to spare and their sack numbers last year were among the worst in the league.
  8. Peppers played 8 seasons for us, and had 7 good or great seasons. Peppers dropped into coverage more than Hardy, so this skewed his sack numbers a bit, but Peppers had more forced fumbles and interceptions per year and slightly less tackle numbers.
  9. I don't think the Panthers actions will make much of a difference in the trial. That verdict will be rendered on the merits of the case hopefully. I think that the Panthers believe that the trial will bring more attention to Hardy and the team, and they wanted to get in front of it by saying he is not going to be our problem anymore. Can't really blame them.
  10. I don't believe there is any chance he would give it back. That being said, if he did give it back, it would be him volunteering, so I don't think the Union would say much about that. If on the one in a million chance, he did decide to relieve himself of all that cash, a much more fitting gesture would be a donation to a domestic abuse charity. Or he could give it to me, either one would suffice.
  11. The defense played fairly well against Seattle. Wilson didn't kill us, and Lynch was held to less than 4 ypc. Turnovers did us in. Seattle scored two td's off those turnovers, one with a short field, the other a pick 6.
  12. How great we would be with or without him depends on who we could potentially sign to replace him. An extra 13 million or so in available cap might allow us to sign two solid free agents. For example, what if by not signing Hardy, we can sign a solid safety, as well as a tackle. Or another defensive end who while not as good as Hardy, is solid and combine that with a speedy wide receiver with decent hands? Would you rather have two good players who don't get in trouble much, or one possibly elite player who may or may not have behavioral problems. That is at least one of the dilemma's facing Gettleman and company this off season. I think he will likely take the additional cap space and avoid the potential risk of resigning Hardy to a long term contract. But we shall soon see.
  13. The receiver on the slant was wide open early in the play. Could be that Wilson hit him a couple of steps to late. Although had Wilson hit him earlier, he might not have gotten the td. Of course, then they call a time out and hand it to Lynch or let Wilson run it in.
  14. Very few of us are anti Greg Hardy. Its not anti Greg Hardy to say that he probably will not be back even if found innocent. I just don't think the front office will be willing to risk continuing to pay him what he thinks he deserves. And I can't really blame them. And I don't blame him for signing elsewhere for big money. Of course, if he is found guilty, then there might be a lot of anti Greg Hardy sentiment.
  15. Regarding #3, if he is found innocent of all charges, why would he give or even need to give the money back? I wouldn't, and I don't think anyone in their right mind would. There is very little chance Hardy plays for us next year. But whatever chance there is would require him to be found innocent, and to make some sincere efforts to make changes in his life, with plenty of evidence of his better behavior and avoiding the wrong kind of people.
  16. I don't know if Cam is a great qb, but he is a solid qb that gives us a good shot to win. Don't know if he will ever be a superstar, while Luke might already be one. But generally speaking, qb's are harder to find than middle linebackers, so Cam.
  17. His pass to Gronk on the last td drive was a great throw. I also thought he did a good job moving around buying time on a few plays.
  18. I could easily see that happening. If Seattle scores but leaves 45 seconds or more on the clock, then I would say there is a very good chance.
  19. And just like that, it turns. Not a lot of pressure on Brady, just a bad throw on his part.
  20. Brady is picking em apart with the short game right now.
  21. I seriously doubt she would be alone. Aside from doctors and nurses, her own family members are likely to be there, and maybe some of his as well. That being said, I would understand either choice.
  22. I had no idea Appalachian State University was known as a babe and party school.
  23. I am not sure what state you are in, but I know that in North Carolina there are some four year degrees that can be obtained by spending your first two years in community college, then transferring to a regular college for the last two years or so. One of our new employees got his degree in that manner. Regarding the reserve, I would check a recruiting site. The service is not for everyone, but given the amount of money they would be spending on you, asking for a 4 year commitment which only involves one weekend a month and two weeks a year after the initial training is not unreasonable.
