The one bright spot for the Saints today is kick returns.

Those were some great adjustments. Letting Winston get sacked to distract us. lol I think the adjustments will be in the second half.

I think we can all agree, that in terms of place kicker, the team has made one mistake after another. Glad the new guy made his first one, even if it was a chip shot.

People tend to remember the bad more than the good. Truth is that regarding game winners, he made more than he missed. 2013 hit game winner vs the forty niners, although it was at the 10 minute mark of the 4th qtr. 2015 hit game winner in ot against the Colts 2015 hit game winner against the Giants after they came back from a big lead 2017 hit game winner against the Patriots in New England after they came back 2018 The big one against the Giants.

If memory serves, Gano got injured in the middle of the 2018 season, and this caused him to miss all of 2019 with us. I think that is why he got released. In 2017, he had one of his best seasons, missing only 1 fg and being an integral part of us making the playoffs. He wasn't released due to performance on the field, he was released due to the injury. I guess we weren't sure if he would recover. But he did. Since signing with the Giants, he has been one of the top 2 or 3 kickers in the league.

I think we should have waited until the end of the 2014 season to do it. We were thin on Cap space and cutting him cost us more for that year because we had to go out and sign someone to replace him. Could have told him at the beginning of the season, Steve you have been one of our all time greats, but the intent is to move on next year. And give him the choice to retire or go to another team. I doubt waiting till the end of the 2014 season would have changed our fortunes much. Of course, in the end, it doesn't really matter now.

The vast majority of head coaches who go from the NFL to college only do so after they are fired from an NFL job.

I doubt that. He made a 52 yarder in preseason. I do think he had issues with kicking a little low. And maybe we should have cut him, but I am not sure the guy we are picking up is an improvement.

The really sad part is they kept Gano over Butker which most of us disagreed with, and now we have neither. Gano had some injury issues, but before that and since he recovered, he has been one of the best kickets in the NFL. He missed 1fg last year, and was 5 of 6 from 50 plus yards.

Slye missed several kicks, and survived for a couple of years. Santoso misses 1 xp and he is out. Guess the coach really wanted to keep that 7th round pick.

If the stats are right, we averaged 10 yards per punt return yesterday, with a long of 15. The numbers are better than the league average yesterday. I am not really sure what people are complaining about.

Agree with some of the others here. There are several issues, but no push on the oline is the biggest one.

The Aints are probably going to cut a few guys after this year to clear cap space. They will replace them with draft picks. If they draft well, they stay relevant. If not, well.

The Saints recent history suggest they start strong and finish weak. That being said, if (and its a big if) Jameis Winston can keep the mistakes down, the Saints could be better than they were last year. Personally, I thought they had a shot to win that last playoff game if they put in Winston more. Brees was a shell of his former self.

This is the NFL, not Clemson vs South Carolina State. If you win by 1 or 40, it all counts the same in the standings. We struggled but won for the early part of the 2015 season against some bad teams. That being said, they need to improve in some areas. Red zone offense is still horrific.

Well that is ball game. We won, and in the end, that is all that matters.

They are dumb if they do an onside kick. Of course, with our piss poor performance in close games, they will probably recover.
