  1. You and I grew up within a few miles of each other.
  2. No, you don't. That is just not the way it works. You secure the network if there is an active breech, but this had been going on since 2019.
  3. Not sure if this would be the type of story you would do, but the story of Fritz Klenner is probably one of the most sordid and tragic tales in the History of North Carolina. The older folks might remember it, but younger people probably haven't.
  4. I have been working in that area of IT for a long time, and it's highly highly unlikely. Personal information storage and the active network for phones are two completely different systems. Just a rough guess here, but when your phone connects to a network, the data stored on your phone (the phone chip number) is communicated to authentication servers and they confirm that phone has the right to use the ATT network. The communication doesn't necessarily contain personal data like email and such. The breech is more along the lines of email, phone number and address that they have on file for bill pay and statement information, or when you log in via app to pay your bill. And the big issue is social security numbers. This is more along the lines of when you log into your account thru your phone or laptop to pay your bill or check the status of an order. This is not about the phone connecting to and using the ATT cell tower. Most likely, they discovered the breech after the fact and then had to implement new security protocols, patches, and updates to prevent new breeches.
  5. If outsiders gained access to a company's network, the last thing they would want to do is cause an outage that brings attention to them. Such a hack would be subtle, and likely discovered after the fact. The vast majority of major outages are caused by software/code upgrades that were improperly vetted, or engineers making a mistake. Sometimes denial of service attacks are a big problem as well. Data breaches rarely if ever are accompanied by an outage.
  6. Its highly unlikely that the two are related in any way, other that both are ATT. That is just not the way it works.
  7. My guess is TMJ will be cut and have a shot to catch on somewhere else.
  8. As a Wake fan, I would just love to see them make it next year
  9. Probably not, most NBA power forwards have to play on the perimeter now. But Burns will make money playing bball somewhere.
  10. Duke couldn't throw it in the Ocean right now.
  11. No doubt they will have to restock, but a final four appearance makes that a little easier.
  12. Make the final four, beat the team that beat you in the ACC tournament? They will have loads of confidence. Doesn't mean they will win.
  13. UConn is the best team, but any one of the four teams could win it. Barkley said it earlier. Confidence is huge. Duke or NCSU will have loads of it if they win today.
  14. These teams are really lighting it up offensively.
  15. With all the talk about Burns and Horn, I think a key factor in NCSU's run is Diarra. He is averaging nearly 14 boards per game over the last 7 games. That is a amazing stat.
  16. Ref missed a foul there, but doesn't really matter. Looking good for Purdue right now. Going to be one team in the final four from each of the major BBall conferences.
  17. I won't say they will. But with the one and done nature of the NCAA tournament and the three point shot, I think any remaining team could win it. All it would take is a couple of guys getting hot from three while the favorite has an off night. Also, this NCSU team team probably has more talent than the Valvano team, while its likely that none of the tournament teams has the talent that Houston did.
  18. And being a journeyman is ok. All teams, even Kansas City has a few of those to fill out the roster.
  19. Well, didn't really ask for it, or want it even. Think I just said it will be interesting. And I am glad that the ACC will have one, and maybe two teams in the final four. Yet another "down" year.
  20. Congrats to Duke, but you have to admit, it helped a lot when Houston's best player got injured.
  21. Duke vs NCSU for a trip to the final four.
  22. Well, that should do it. NCSU to the elite 8. If Duke can pull off a win tonight, that would be an interesting rematch.
  23. College teams shoot way to many threes these days.
