Saints look terrible on offense, but our defense is nowhere near as good as the Broncos.

He ran to the right, and threw a nice pass downfield. He also threw a decent pass across the middle after stepping up in the pocket. A couple of short completions and a decent scramble. He still can't throw from the pocket other than some short passes to the backs and side outs to the receiver.

I agree. In fact, I would go all the way back to Rhule's first year to see the bad decisions that turned us into one of the worst teams in the league. Cutting Cam even when he only had a year on his contract, then signing Mr Backup Teddy Bridgewater, then running him off. Then trading for Darnold, then Mayfield and watching both of them go away. Then the Young draft pick fiasco. Fwiw, I wish we really did know who was responsible for the decision making. Who decided to make the trade, and who decided to pick Young. Was it Tepper, was it Fitterer, was it Reich, was it some combination of the three? Was it someone else? I mean had they made the trade and they picked Stroud, well all might have been largely forgiven. But it seems to me that even if Tepper didn't make the decisions, at the least he is very very bad at making personnel decisions. Then again, I guess it doesn't really matter. Fitterer and Reich are gone and if it was Tepper, the only hope is that he learns his lesson.

Got it I couldn't help but laugh when people talked Bryce in the Bears game. He threw ok in garbage time until the got in the red zone. But then he failed.

Someone earlier said that if we can't resign him and he walks, we get a comp pick. If true (and I am not sure how that works), then we should keep him around till the end of the year if anyone offers only a 4th.

I doubt anyone is going to give us a first for a guy who is on a one year contract. But if they do and we don't take it and we don't resign him, then the entire front office should be fired. I will add that if we get offered a second and don't take it, then we have to sign him long term.

I am assuming by top of the draft, he meant top five picks or maybe even top 2 or 3 picks. No doubt that you are more likely to get a successful qb in the first round than the later rounds, that is true of all NFL positions. I will see that this appears to the odd year where both of the top 2 qb's picked are playing fairly well, although the #2 looks significantly better than the number 1.

The vast majority of these types of articles are speculation. Writers have to produce content, its what they do. Nothing real to write about, so they put out rumor they heard. Or in some cases, a rumor they started. Fwiw, its possible that they trade Bryce. Its possible that they keep him and don't play him. Its possible that they keep him and do play him.

I just hope that with time and experience, he gets better at being an owner.

Bryce was considered the top prospect when we had the number one pick, so I trust these ratings about as far as I can throw the people that make them.

How about Bryce Young, a conditional 7th, and a 1-year membership to Costco.

Might be easier to get him in a trade than as a free agent. If the front office wants him.

Curtis Samuel and Devin Funchess were both decent second round WR picks. Funchess was derailed by injuries and Samuel is still playing although his career for us was also derailed by injuries.

We didn't abandon the run until we went down 34-20 in the 4th qtr. We were down 28-20, and we marched down the field running the ball. 8 plays, 6 runs and two passing plays. Then they stopped us on first down and we threw on second and 8. And Dalton got picked. You can't run the ball on every single play. Once we went down 35-20, well most teams are going to throw the ball more.

I think I wouldn't be kicking anymore fg's if the wind is that bad.

I mostly agree, but there trading someone who will likely not be back next year (Johnson), can be the right move.

I think Johnson might be a more likely candidate. One year contract, no dead money, and we could probably get more for him.

For most of the season, Canales is going to try to win. If he doesn't, then he is going to have a much harder time getting the good players to come here. And if he isn't trying to win, then I don't want him as coach. Given the frequency of injuries in the NFL, there is a good chance the young guys will get development regardless of whether Thielen starts or not.

They already have. Coker, Legette, and Johnson all got more offensive snaps. Once Thielen comes back, I doubt Mingo will see much time at all unless more injuries occur.

As long as we get it because we suck naturally, and not in some crazy tanking thing, I am ok with getting a top pick. The only NFL team I can say clearly and absolutely tanked was Miami, and all it did was take them from a team that sucked terribly because they had no talent to a team that sucked slightly less bad than we do because the qb they tanked for gets injured a lot.

Atlanta's run defense is as bad and maybe worse than ours. We ran and passed the ball well in a balanced attack, up until Dalton's int. After that and we fell behind by two scores, we had no choice but to pass it more.

On offense, we really just need a better qb, although Dalton has played fairly well. We will need to resign or replace Johnson and I hope XL can continue to progress. The running game is effective might get better when Brooks can play. The defense needs a lot though. Hopefully the young guys will improve and we can bring in some better players in the offseason.
