  1. Dallas has run over a lot of defenses this year. For example, 56 against WTF and 35 points and 445 yards passing against the Pats. It happens.
  2. Seems to me most of the "attacks" have been "wait until the panthers offense screws up and we can get an easy score" I will say that we struggle against balanced offenses, but then with the way the rules favor the offense these days, that is going to happen with 95% of all defenses. IMO, the Aints probably have the best defense in the NFC, definitely the best in our division. Yet they got lit up by the Eagles/Bills and to a lesser extent by Cowboys consecutively at one point this year. This isn't the old days. Good defenses can give you a shot at winning, they can't dominate like they did in the 70s and 80s. And our d gave us a shot to win in multiple games this year, and for the most part, the offense failed to take advantage.
  3. I don't know if Pickett will be a good quarterback. The fact that he only had one good year is irrelevant imo. Some people just take longer to get better than others. The draft profiles and the assessments don't matter to me that much. They are wrong more often than they are right. All you have to do is look at the current group of elite qb's in the NFL, to see how wrong those assessments can be. Best qb's in the NFC are a sixth round pick (Brady), a fourth round pick (Prescott), a third round pick (Wilson), and a late first round pick (AR). And one top pick (Kyler Murray). I won't be disappointed if we take Pickett regardless of what others say. But I am concerned that the current staff can't really prepare him for the NFL. He may be good, or he may not. But if he does have the raw materials to be a good NFL qb, I hope we bring in a very good QB coach to teach him the ins and outs of the job. Or better yet, maybe we take him, sit him for a year until Rhule gets canned.
  4. We will only get about 10 points. I think the Bucs would score more than that even with the backups. Regarding Rhule's job, I think a decision has already been made, and I doubt this game will have an impact one way or the other.
  5. He was never very good, at least from an NFL perspective. Like many college qb's, he looked good because he was on a team that had a lot more talent than the teams he played against. When he got to the NFL, (where the talent is more evenly distributed), he looked a lot worse.
  6. Just about nailed us, but I guess we were fairly easy. They were dramatically wrong regarding Jacksonville, as they didn't improve even a little.
  7. So far, only one of last year's qb's are any good.
  8. I imagine they mean something catastrophic like being accused of kicking his players, right after being caught at a bar with a hot young girl, while the team and wife are not around.
  9. Fwiw, it could happen. Draft a qb that turns into the next Tom Brady, then get extremely lucky with our late round picks that give us some good offensive linemen. But the odds aren't good.
  10. Hiring bad coaches happens. Almost all franchises have a number of coaches they wish they hadn't hired. Normally, they get fired after 2-3 years and the franchise moves on. But if Fields or Jones ends up being a good long term qb, the franchise could in theory be kicking itself for years over this move.
  11. Brown almost pulled a Ricky Bobby. He definitely isn't right upstairs. Reminds me a little of Charles Haley, although Haley tended to keep it together on the field at least.
  12. If he won today and next week, he would be a panther next season. Of course, he probably will anyway.
  13. Definitely. A rookie qb is a rookie qb regardless of age. 2 years or 4 years in college doesn't really prepare you for the NFL.
  14. Personally, IF I did draft a qb like Pickett or Howell, he sits the entire first year, ala Mahomes. Then spend every remaining pick on the oline, spend next years picks on the oline, spend most of our free agent dollars on the oline. In the meantime, throw Darnold out there since we have to pay him an arm and a leg next year.
  15. The reverse is also true. Our qb's are atrocious, regardless of who is on the oline. Give Sam time to throw, and the number of interceptions go up exponentially.
  16. Our offensive line is not good. But the sacks probably kept him from more interceptions.
  17. For us older fans, Sean Gilbert was worse. Kalil might be as bad. But yeah, Darnold was a predictably terrible move.
  18. But if you watch the good ones, they almost always get the ball out in three seconds or less, even when throwing it 20 plus yards. Being able to get it out quick and accurate is the most important factor in an NFL qb, imo.
  19. Read thru the thread, its not. No doubt the oline is not good. But we are horrible when it comes to getting the ball out quickly.
  20. Vince Lombardi is dead. And still might be a better NFL coach than Rhule.
  21. We will either get a td and fail to get the two point conversion. Or Darnold will throw a pick.
  22. Announcer, this has been a defensive game. In reality, both teams have horrid offenses. The Aints due to injury, and us due to, well basic incompetence.
