  1. Are you thinking about kicking Tom inside to center? I have an odd draft crush on him as a center of the future. Bozeman is good for a year and then re-sign and slide him to LG with Tom at Center. Cross-Bozeman-Tom-Corbett-Moton is a nasty talented OL for the next 5-7 years.
  2. Have you not noticed a freeze on the talented players in FA and more of the depth/ST/practice squad level signings of late? There's a tier of players that are doing exactly that.....waiting until after the draft when the smoke clears of the direction for rosters. We have options that we don't have to draft: LT: Brown, Reiff, Solder QB: Mayfield and Jimmy G..... potentially Minshew or maybe Huntley from BAL
  3. This is why I hope we don't go QB at 6. Tepper and Fitts have to anticipate Rhule returning for year 4 is at best 50-50. Drafting such unique QBs this year that may or may not jive with an incoming staff has to be taken into account when drafting so high this year. Ekonwu/Neal at 6 or sliding back to 9 or 11 along with re-signing Bozeman in '23 makes way more sense long-term to build this OL out with youth. Send a draft pick to BAL or PHI for Huntley or Minshew. The odds of Rhule leading us to anything better than a 7-10 or 8-9 season with Willis/Pickett/Corral is not happening. Why create potential roadblocks to hiring a better HC/OC next year.
  4. I do think it's possible that one of Icky/Neal is there at 6. Hutchinson is for sure gone and one of the OTs will be as well. I don't think seeing any combination of.... Hutchinson, Walker, Icky or Neal, Gardner, and a trade in front of us for a QB is crazy to imagine. There's still Thibs and Hamilton as well that could go before us if not for the other guys mentioned. I prefer Icky, but would be just as happy with Neal. No way Penning > either of these two. I could also see the NYG pulling a fast one at 5 and taking Cross over the other OTs because of preferences.
  5. Considering all three guys in the "top tier" have their flaws, you pick your poison. At this point with how we've selected QBs in our history, I'm in for going for the HR with Willis. However, I do think Corral is being quite underappreciated and could be the best of the lot. It's all about fit and if Corral fits us and our personnel better, let's roll the dice.....because that's what any of these QBs are at this point. I do think Seattle moves up with either HOU or NYG to select Willis. I think there's a lot of Russ similarities there and they can ride with Lock for a year while Willis sits. Although, I think they do also like Corral a lot and can sit tight at 9 and select him. My concern is Rhule's hard-on for Pickett and being blind to other options depending on how the draft falls. If somehow Neal/Ickey falls to 6 and it's between them and Pickett....I have concerns.
  6. I think if the Carolina font was a little less "cartoony" / flea market knock off, it would be a home run. I do like the simplicity over the overdone shiny new toy look.
  7. Great, so we go from 5-11, to 8-9....if we're lucky. Shanny >> Rhule Saleh > Snow Pass.
  8. Corral was the QB1 when the season kicked off and slowly lost traction. Injury in the Bowl game didn't help his cause either. Agree w/ MHS - high level of SEC competition, in between Willis and Pickett for measurables, competitor/personality is there, etc. Will be intriguing for sure.
  9. I get why people don't want Pickett, but the hate on him is a bit off to me. If we are taking a QB at 6, I'd prefer Willis for the upside/homerun vs. conservative/low ceiling aspect. That being said, I can make as many arguments as why to NOT take Willis as I can to not taking Pickett. Hot take - I'd prefer Pickett/Willis over Mac Jones.
  10. Minshew is who we should be looking at regardless of what we do with pick 6 and does not force us to select a QB in the '22 draft per se. At 25 years old, I'd be more than happy bringing mustachio in to start in '22, draft an OT at 6 and then figure out QB after the 6th overall selection is made, and 2023. If we have a way of moving back into the back half of the 1st round/early 2nd to grab Ridder (doubt he makes it to R2), even better......Let Minshew mentor the rookie. If not, we find our guy next offseason/'23 draft. Orrrrr....maybe he is the answer here. He looked solid in his two years in JAX (which is saying something), doesn't turn the ball over and played behind Hurts last year. Minshew or Huntley are the young vets we should trade for. Jimmy G, Baker, etc.... pass.
  11. Would love a trade back, recoup a 2nd rounder and draft Linderbaum. BC-Bozeman-Linderbaum-Corbett-Moton. Maybe we draft a LT in R2 or maybe we package the acquired 2nd along with something else to move back up for Ridder.
  12. Minshew or Huntley if the price is right or just sign Jameis or Mariota. Build the OL in the draft and wait until next year for a QB. New coach will want “his guy” …. No need to hamstring that right out of the gate. Under no circumstances do I want Jimmy G, Baker or Love.
  13. Any capologists out there know how much dead money we’ve created for future years this off-season in restructures? Seems like we are real good at kicking the can down the road latelly….rather than taking the lumps and wiping the slate clean.
  14. Is there any chance he can move to LG? I don't want to compare tackle and guards when you usually put your more athletic T at LT, but his 306 weight seems pretty athletic for a guard. Ideally Corbett at LG and Brown at RG would be nasty, but don't want to place a square peg in a round hole. Thoughts @mr.scot
  15. Excellent signing. 26 years old, former 2nd rounder with a Championship pedigree. Can't complain. Build up that IOL, regardless of Watson coming here.
  16. There's no way you look at Linderbaum's play over the past couple of years in the B10 and worry about his arms at Center, IMO. Dude is a generational talent and I prefer him over Cross/Penning for pushing the needle on our OL. Kalil was an anchor that defined our OL (along with Gross) for over a decade. Don't overthink it....take Linderbaum.
  17. When Thibodeaux drops to 6, and Rhule has to choose between Thibs, Pickett and an OL, true colors will show.
  18. Or Darnold's $18M would also solve that issue....or at least contribute about 85% towards signing two OL.
  19. I'm seeing Winston trending lately and some decent stats to back it up. Pre-injury last year he was putting together a very solid season. He's also a year removed from eye surgery as well. While all QB-needy teams are looking for the next Stafford-LAR evolution, would Jameis be that guy here? Draft Cross/Lindebaum at 6, bring in a premier FA OG and roll it back with Winston under center.
  20. This is concerning. I've seen two different highly touted draft insiders mocking Gardner to us at 6, and now this. Brown over Wirfs was frustrating, but excusable. Coming back the next year with Horn over Slater is not learning from your mistakes. Taking Sauce Gardner at 6 over Cross/Lindebaum is a fireable offence, IMO. Horn-Bouye-Henderson-Taylor is a good core of CBs. Only DB worth taking a swing at is Hamilton. Build The Damn O Line !!!
  21. Rhule has final say on roster decisions. Rhule-Pickett connection already established from Temple days. Carolina was rumored to be very high on Pickett at Senior Bowl. Seems like a no-brainer at this point.
