I think we will be competitive in year one...maybe 9-8 or 10-7 and win the division. I think by '24, we should be more in the 11-6+ category of being a perennial contender in the NFC....something we've never been. Our cap and draft capital might be an issue in '23 getting the QB we want and cleaning up dead cap and/or releases to open up the cap for '24 and beyond. I think next offseason is when we make our leap. Coaching staff has a year to evaluate and the new QB1 will have a year under his belt in Carolina. Would love Bienemy here, but not sure he leaves that situation. If we got him here.....whoooooo, it would be an insane coup of hirings.

No way Wilks made any sense here in the locker room with a different outside guy being the HC and Wilks, who won the locker room being #2.

The NFCS is in the midst of a huge changing of the guard. NO would be the only team I'm concerned with if they get Carr at QB. If Carr goes elsewhere, we should run the NFCS for the next two years at minimum. Great time for this coaching staff to make their mark. Odds are Evero departs first for a HC gig. I can also see one of Duce, Caldwell or the next OC being gone by '25.

Say the Bears go QB at #1 and trade Justin Fields...
Soul Rebel replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
My preferences would be - Fields Stroud AR/Young Levis I think giving up #9 + our second 2nd rounder + maybe a day 3 2024 pick would get us Fields. Imagining Fields behind our OL (re-signed Bozeman), a re-signed Foreman and leaders like Reich, Caldwell, McCown & Brown/JBC would take Fields' game to the next level. He was surrounded with trash in CHI. We don't have to give up as much to get into the Stroud/Young sweepstakes and have a QB that has had 2 years to polish his game. -
I was Team Steichen but have to admit, I don't see any of the HCs this cycle doing what we have done. Even the great and illustrious douche that is Sean Payton....I don't see his staff being one that I would be this excited about.

From Athletic J Person on Caldwell connections and OC
Soul Rebel replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Forgot about JBC connection to Caldwell....could make him the leader in the clubhouse now. He wouldn't be the worst hire, but seeing how the Lions' offense improved after he left, makes me want Brown more. Combining Reich's tree with Fangio's tree and then tapping into McVay's tree seems like a helluva trifecta. -
Tremble would be a phenomenal TE2 that can run with a lot of the 12/22 personnel that Reich/Duce would probably desire. As banged up as TEs get, Tremble could also sneak in as a low-end TE1 when needed. If we don't have to cough up 39 in a trade-up, I hope we land Musgrave/Kincaid/Kraft. This offense has needed a TE since Olsen left. Tremble + a TE1 would be a nice return to the Olsen/Shockey production.

I initially thought Patullo would be Reich's guy, but the way dominos are falling, I don't think we snag anyone from PHI. Patullo probably goes with Steichen to be the OC and Johnson stays in PHI w/ a promotion and his ties to Hurts. At that point, Thomas Brown has to be the guy. I don't see why he would choose TB over us and the potential we have with our coaching staff and a say in the new QB1. Landing Brown would be the final cherry on top of an unbelievable hiring cycle for Carolina.

5 makes the most sense to move up to with the ties to Seattle, but 3 is probably what it takes to leapfrog IND. That being said, I think the odds of IND moving to 1 is the most probable. Chicago can slide back to 5, but 9 is a bigger stretch for them. We have to hope IND prefers Levis, because I think HOU wants Young or Stroud. I've never been a huge proponent of "do whatever it takes to move up to #1". However, this year based off of the reset button with coaching and offensive philosophy, I'm all in if that's what it takes for CJ. We have enough good pieces to compete with CJ at the helm from '24 and beyond. Let's use '23 to groom him behind Brissett, take any cap hits/dead money on this year to clear us out for 2024. We were a decent coaching staff and mediocre QB away from winning the NFCS.

I'm still hoping for Wayne. Has ties with Reich, played during the same time period as Duce.

I think these rumors about being aloof and not a leader is what is saved for guys that they can't really find terrible mechanical or statistical flaws in. Stroud is the inverse of Fields, though similar in stature and QB1 potential but for different reasons. QB evals and analysis are so akin to winning the lottery....there is no exact science to it. You roll the dice whether it's at 1 or 7th round....and everywhere in between. I'd rather gamble on a 6'3" 220lb QB with insane accuracy and ability to throw receivers open from a top-flight collegiate program that has a winning culture than an undersized QB that is going to get tossed around. At some point we have to push our chips in and I don't recall a year where it has ever made more sense. My hope is that Chicago stays at 1 for one of the defensive guys, Houston takes Young at 2 and then we move up to 3 for Stroud. It will still cost us, but not nearly the non-lubed ribbing we would have to cough up for #1 overall. That being said....we have to do whatever it takes for Stroud, IMO. Young and Levis aren't it.

I wonder if we do get McCown as our QB Coach if we might kick the can one more year to see what we have with Corral. If the plan is to have a bridge QB like Brissett come in this year anyway while a Stroud/AR learn the ropes, I wonder if Corral is that underdog QB that can be molded by guys like Reich and McCown. Would allow us to maybe get a shiny new WR1 or perhaps a Wilson/Murphy for Evero's D.
-
McCown would be a home run as QB coach and be groomed for future OC or HC gig. I think our first choice would have to be Patullo for OC and then maybe Cooter. Also wonder where Duce fits into this equation.
-
Not sure about Schulters the Coach, but man...I used to really like him when he played. Dixon would be an excellent addition to help take our DL to the next level. Capers makes too much sense in a return visit.

How Frank Reich designs his Mesh Concept | Film Study
Soul Rebel replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Love the video and can't help but see Stroud as the guy in Reich's system. Lots of precision and reading defenses to identify coverage and scheme. -
Love....love...love. My day is made. I should go to bed now. So much potential with our personnel and Evero. Capers seems like a no-brainer unless Payton wants to keep the wise advisor. I'd love to see what McCall, Roy and Brandon Smith can do in Evero's D. I think Smith can shine in a year or two when Shaq moves on. Chinn moving up closer to the LOS and finding a partner for Woods will be big.
-
IF (huge "if") we were to land Evero and one of the Philly names being kicked about, it would be hard for Wilks fanboys to be mad. Reich + BJ/Patullo + Duce + Evero + Evero's assistants >>> Wilks + BJ + Holcomb We get the experience, an offensive-focused coaching staff instead of a defensive-focused HC and a HC candidate for a DC. Dave Tepper, let's make this happen!! ---- and change the turf back to grass.
-
I would think MIN has the edge with the connections and began transitioning to a 3-4 last year. Tepper tossing Fangio money out there would be the only way, IMO. We. Need. Evero. Make it happen Tepper, Fitts and Reich!!
-
I wonder if Reggie Wayne is more committed to Reich or the Colts? He was a volunteer WR advisor for a few years declining coaching opportunities there. Joined Reichs staff in 2022 and was real disappointed when Reich was fired… Found this article on Wayne looking comfortable in that role last year at TC. Much like Duce, I like the fire and buy-in from the players…. https://horseshoeheroes.com/2022/06/14/footage-of-reggie-wayne-coaching-colts-incredible-to-watch/

The QB School : Breaking down AR and Levis
Soul Rebel replied to Your GFs favorite huddler's topic in Carolina Panthers
To this point, I wonder if Reich hires Patullo or Johnson from Philly if they would be of this opinion too. Posting a draft writeup from Zierlein for a recent 2nd round QB that is on the brink of a SB ring. AR is taller and more built for the weekly rigors of the NFL too…. -

Do we have any chance at Evero for DC? Sounds like Payton might be looking for his guy in Denver. Sucks that the Wilks lawsuit is hanging overhead here….I’d take Flores in a minute. -
It’s all speculation at this point, but I think they’re connecting two dots from Tepper supposedly being a Levis fan from an Ellis Williams report in December, and maybe the Reich-Wentz previous connection. If you’re going to gamble on an SEC QB that has question marks, I don’t see why AR isn’t the guy. A 24-yr old Levis did nothing this year to make me want him at QB. Richardson, in the same conference, is more athletic, equally live arm, has less college reps and is 2 years younger.

Gotta be waiting on Johnson or Patullo. Both would be outstanding learning under Reich in their first OC gig and do wonders with Stroud or Richardson. AR would be more of an RPO QB that might fit BJ or Patullo better, but Stroud seems like more of a Reich kind of QB. Let Duce get his hands on D'Onta in a re-signed 2-yr deal and Campen can continue to cook with the OL. -
I see the brilliance and potential leadership that guys get behind w/ Young. I just have a hard time envisioning him being a 10+ year franchise QB that can be relied upon for 17 games + every year. He can survive and be great in the NFL, it's just hard to see guys like Tua and Kyler getting knocked around and not see a similar future for Young. Hell, even Josh Allen, Lamar and Lawrence are getting popped and they are big guys. Stroud is accurate, throws receivers open better than most QBs I've seen of late and has enough mobility/athleticism to translate over to the NFL. That UGA game was enough of an eye test for me.
