Figure it will get done today so he can be fully under contract tomorrow. Friday is usually the big day each week for transactions, injuries, etc. leading up to that week's game. Get it done tonight, no distractions tomorrow, and get the dub Sunday. It's baffling that this franchise has an opportunity to sweep the stench of the past few years away with Rhule and yet, here we are, not paying our best defensive player....at a position that gets paid. You don't turn down the draft haul less than a year ago and have a staff with veteran NFL minds like Reich, Capers and Caldwell that understand the bizz to not get this hammered out. You've got the cap space in '23 and even more down the line.....Get it done. You're making the franchise look like it's been perceived the past 5-10 years....unprofessional.

REPORT: Panthers host former Steelers DT Chris Wormley
Soul Rebel replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Steeler fans on some boards and YT speak highly of him, pre-injury. I keep seeing/hearing that he is fundamentally sound, dependable and a vet with production. He won't wow you with flare, but a rotational guy at worst. Vet that has lived in the 3-4 mold in Pittsburgh and Baltimore. We could do much worse at this point in the offseason. -
New Tennessee Titans turf...with new technology
Soul Rebel replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was thinking the same thing watching the game. Announcers spoke highly of it and the zoomed in camera work made it look like real grass. Our turf looks like the worst possible version of artificial grass. It reminds me of Lumen Field and seeing places like LA and now Tennessee makes me wonder why our loaded owner that won't go to grass, won't pony up for the "best of the best". -
I hope the plan is for Zavala to get some reps and cut his NFL teeth at RG until Corbett is back. Then, move over to his former running mate and secure Bryce's blindside. Feel like the chemistry between Zavala and Ickey can only help Ickey, long-term too to have a familar face beside him. I'd prefer BC to be a swing guy or rotate in.

If you want to be peeved over the OL woes, by all means, it's an issue. The one area that we thought was safe and secure has looked awful thus far. Campen not being a new coach and most of the OL intact only makes it stand out more. Outside of that, I'm not concerned. 90% new staff, several veteran coaches combined with young, aspiring coaches, a completely overhauled starting offensive personnel group, transitioning from a 43 to a 34 base, lots of new faces on both sides of the ball and a rookie QB at the helm. Yes, we've looked bad through two games, but there needs to be a bit more patience. Especially when a veteran HC says they've purposely run a stripped down version of their gameplan so far. Nothing wrong with being concerned, but some folks need to step off the ledge. I also think some fans thought we were going to walk out there and win the NFCS without any adversity or challenges early on. Manage expectations folks. Rome wasn't built in a day and we overturned the dumpster fire that Rhule left behind quite a bit so far. It's going to take at least another offseason to wash that stink off, get Bryce the weapons and protection he needs and give Burns and Brown some support up front.

It's Jets joint practice Day 1 (8.9.2023)
Soul Rebel replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
A combination of a few things.... Tremble (?) didn't come back to the ball and just flattened his route which made it easy for Echols to swoop underneath. CB watched QB the whole way and great focus to reel it in. Bryce didn't put a ton of zip on it and it doesn't look like he helped himself at all by zeroing in on the TE the whole way. -
Love it for '23 and helps bring a vet to the locker room that can help the younger guys learn the position from an All-Pro. He won't be our every down backer but will add a new wrinkle to Evero's D. DJ, and Barno are probably a year away still. Take the pressure off them and YGM for this year and let them be Houston's shadow all year.

I'm neither of those people but thanks for generalizing. I know I'm going to the Seattle game this year which is an early game and had to represent for Bryce. Also, the last "expensive" jersey I bought was a Kuechly about 7-8 years ago so I figured it was time to treat myself to a new jersey.

I got the $300 Bryce joint in process blue and it's beautiful. The blue def pops more than in the past, IMO. I didn't realize there would be another option but pretty happy with mine except for one HUGE thing I was unaware of.... the sleeves. Caveat emptor for those that aren't used to seeing this. It fits great but a little tight around the upper arm area which is something I'm not used to. It's like a waistband or ankle elastic on sweatpants feel to it. I'm sure it's meant to mimic the field version where they want as little material dragging them down. Not so much for a casual fan on Sundays from the 50-yard line of my couch.

Refresh my memory....Leota was an UDFA from the draft, not an actual FA signing, right?

Verizon is offering NFL Sunday Ticket for free
Soul Rebel replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
Does anyone have Verizon home internet as their provider? I'm in the PNW and have a bundle with local TV + internet from Xfinity. Might be worth the switch if prices and speeds are comparable. Am I understanding it correctly that a Verizon home internet plan would make me eligible for free Sunday Ticket? -
Especially with a QB that has the IQ to find mismatches and open receivers. BY is going to be dealing this year....lots of options to select from.
-
I'm sure this has already been suggested, but outside of the cost to re-do the field back to natural grass, could we not put a turf surface down for bigger events over the grass? If Tepper's concern was destroying the field for the quantity of live events, couldn't they do the reverse of what they're doing?

Steve Smith and Cameron Wolfe discuss Bryce and the Receiving Corps
Soul Rebel replied to jfra78's topic in Carolina Panthers
Real talk....who is the "other guy". I know he's Smity co-host, but I've never seen him say anything worth a $hit. He always seems in over his head. Does he have a history or past that merited being paired up with Smitty.....I'm not seeing it. I do like this piece though. Great insight from 2/3 of the podcast. -
Sorry for the double reply. Not trying to spam up the thread….can’t delete/edit to remove this. Mods feel free to delete this post. I posted in the uniform thread instead.

Exclusive first look at Panthers updated jerseys
Soul Rebel replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Didn’t want to start its own thread, but curious about Panthers jerseys. is this the updated Process Blue authentic for sale? Also, do we think this will be the jersey for the next couple of years? Even if it’s until ‘25…would hate for them to update it next year after dropping 3 bills on this. -

So our sister team is getting a new stadium?
Soul Rebel replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Could this not be what the plan would be for us with that hella big proposal of $1.2B in renovations to BoA? Something like this would be ideal for us. No dome, but protection from the brutal sun in September and October. Change the field back to grass and boom, there you go. -
Akhello Witherspoon, Marcus Peters and Kyle Fuller are the "name" CBs on the market. IIRC, all are recovering from injuries last year. Witherspoon probably has the most left in the tank having turned 28 in March. Also has that lanky 6'2" frame that is desirable at CB. Rowe is probably the default guy as of now to step in as far as what's on the roster.

Damn....Floyd was the one I hoped we'd sign. Yannick makes sense from a history with Reich and Wash, but doesn't seem like the type of EDGE we're looking to sign. Replicates what Burns does quite a bit.

Potential $1.2B Panthers stadium renovation discussion
Soul Rebel replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
Does the public/local gov't get any ROI when the public funds part of it? Any returns from the gate/concessions/ownership revenue that is collected over the years since the locals are footing part of the bill? Seems rather "scammy" if the public funds part of it, yet the owners/shareholders reap the profits without reallocating it back to the folks that helped build it. -
Cap space, within reason, is irrelevant, so it's not only the teams with space that can sign him. If Buffalo or KC wants him and they view him as the missing piece, there's ways to make it happen. Anyone that watched our offseason should know this after watching Suleiman work his magic. I wonder, though a talented WR that I normally would love to have, would we bring him in and take reps away from guys like Chark, TMJ and Mingo. We're building a long-term contender....I wonder how Nuk would disrupt or delay the youngsters getting reps.
