I'm not in the 'sky is falling' camp here, but severely disappointed if this is Gettleman's FA WR addition. I'd be happy with Boykin, but don't see him as any better than how I felt when we added Avant or Underwood. I know it's only day one, but I really hope this squad intends on seeing what some of the other WRs out there want for a contract. Boykin for depth, but I am afraid that he and Ginn's arrival, means that we look for Cam's #2 in the draft.

Derrick Morgan hints at meeting with the Panthers
Soul Rebel replied to Sam Mills Fan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think with this 'entertaining' window of 3 days prior to being allowed to legally sign, I believe players are having fun with it by dropping hints/passing time. It would be funny if all of this was us reading too much into it, but Morgan went to GT.... don't think he is a Tarhole fan. #speculation. -
Derrick Morgan hints at meeting with the Panthers

This IS a Gettleman kind of awesome addition... if it does happen. He is an ideal DE for the Panthers: Young - just turned 26 in January Balanced DE Good value $$ wise I would love him as a Hardy replacement. Though he doesn't bring Hardy's persona, like MHS said, he is very productive. Playing him as a 3-4 OLB is a lot like trying to force a 4-3 end to stand up in a 3-4. His skills are much better suited for a 4-3 DE. CJ, Morgan and Ealy would be a nasty set of DEs and we could honestly hold off in the draft, unless there's a gem that fell to the later rounds. I really hope this signing happens. -
You Can Only Sign One Player in Free Agency Who Would it Be?

Jeremy Maclin. Doesn't turn 27 until this summer and would lock up our WR corps for the next 4-5 years. Benji Maclin Brown Draft Pick Cotchery Olsen Dickson -
I would be stoked if the draft fell this way. Collins could be our Clinton-Dix Fisher could be our Taylor Lewan O'Leary could be an underrated option for Cam and help the running game. We could select Crowder in the 4th and fill that WR need. I doubt Fisher is there in the 2nd, but if he is, he would be a steal, and is NFL ready.

He should be in the conversation for #25. His combine was pretty eye-opening and fits the type of WR we need. His ability to contribute on special teams and get behind defenders is up there with the rest of the tier that will be there at 25. DGB has red flags, Funchess doesn't fit what we need, so it's between Agholor, Strong and D. Smith. Honestly, I'd be happy with any of this lot except for Funchess.

Bargain Free Agent: WR Denarius Moore
Soul Rebel replied to gettlemanjack's topic in Carolina Panthers
To replace Bersin/Presley - yes. As our #2/#3, nope. I'd love to see Moore with a QB like Cam, but Moore is at best a low-end #3. -
Agree with everyone else that tossed out TD, Kalil, Olsen, CJ & Cam. I really do believe Johnson has his ear too. Been a Panther for awhile, though he's more on the quiet side, I think his character and veteran mentality is respected by the organization. Normally it wouldn't matter that CJ & Hardy play the same position, but I could see Johnson speaking up a bit on the situation since it directly affects him as much as anyone else on the 53-man roster.

I really think Gettleman will take one gamble and toss out a decent amount of coin at a FA. He might swing and miss, but I could see him possibly opening the pockets for either King Dunlap or Jeremy Maclin. Maybe toss out an offer, but nothing mind blowing. I think Getts dips his toe in the water to see if it's possible, but without crippling our cap. Who knows.... maybe Maclin wants to play with Cam? I think Getts knows that he needs a veteran LT, and sees if he can pull in Dunlap with his VIC card savings, maybe? I think both of the above mentioned players could sign for big money by a team that has deeper pockets, but I do believe Gettleman will test the waters and make an attempt. His comments seem like he wants to, but doesn't want to risk the future at the same time.

Well, that money can by a lot of blow for Holder. Enjoy!!

I know Getts is a value guy, but I hope he makes one 'splash' this FA. I don't mean Revis or Demaryius Thomas splash, but one that locks down a position with a young talented player in his prime, that truly eliminates a need. Rather than gambling on Avant, I'd rather bring in Smith. Instead of swinging for Cason or DeCoud, let's get Culliver, Maxwell or Thurmond. Bye-bye Chandler/Bell experiment, hello King Dunlap. Above all, I think Gettleman has to give Newton at least two weapons. Whether that's Cameron/Dunlap, Torrey Smith/Knowshon - whatever. Newton has been patient for four years, and with his pending contract and Shula's carte blanche privileges, we have to help the young QB out. Again, not implying spending spree because that is not going to happen here. But with the way Getts drafts, we don't need quantity of free agents, rather quality.

I think he can be a solid slot guy for us. Sure handed, fast, tall enough for the slot, and great work ethic. I don't want him on the outside, and believe he can thrive as the fourth option (Olsen, Benji, WR2, Brown). In those early games of the year I remember Brown stepping up at the WR2 spot and overachieving there. Not saying he will set the world on fire, but if his expectations are to kill a defense as a check-down option, deep threat down the seam and sure-handed third down chain mover, I'd be happy.

Even if we draft a LT at #25, it's better to play him at RT and seek our starting LT in FA. Not a lot of talent in the FA pool, but starting a rookie at LT is worse than Bell at LT.... if that's imaginable. Plus, it improves our RT spot for a year.

Dude looks like he could creep into the late 1st or 2nd round if he has a good combine/pro-day. He is nasty and has the 'premier' collegiate program pedigree. Found this on him as well.... http://catcrave.com/2014/12/26/carolina-panthers-2015-draft-player-profile-ot-jake-fisher/

Though I would bet my next 10 year's worth of income that this would never come to fruition, this is a phenomenal draft!! Def my fave on CH so far. - No way Holliman is there in the 2nd (vying with Collins to possibly be the top S taken) - No way Gurley is there in the 5th (still a possibility in the late 1st) - No way Thompson is there in the 7th (dude will go in the 2nd, 3rd at the latest) It's fun to kill some time on this site, but as long as people don't confuse "fun" with "reality", because they will be sorely disappointed.
