How much of the Jets performance was really on Darnold?
Soul Rebel replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
We got Jake at 28, so let's say Darnold takes a year to get ramped up and hits his stride in 2022 at 24 years old. I wouldn't mind four additional years (younger years vs. older years) of a Delhomme-esque QB with the weapons we have around him. -
Draft Analysis: "A massive value-destroying error"?
Soul Rebel replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's strange to me like there's no QBs coming out in 2022 and beyond. Yes, we passed on Fields but we have a plan to see if a 23-year old #3 overall pick could be the answer. He may or may not be. However, there will be QBs available to draft next year...and the year after that...and yup... the year after that. 2022: Howell Rattler Willis Slovis Riddler That's just pre-season guesses. Lots of other guys out there that could pull a Wilson/Burrow and move into the upper echelon next year. -
This is the correct answer, IMO. I do think at some point one of Daley, Brown or Moore takes over at guard later this season. I also hope the team takes a hard look at Moore as a backup C for Paradis. Not sure if he can be a true NFL center, but he did flex at the position at the Sr. Bowl in front of Rhule. Eventually, I could see a Christensen-Daley-Moore-Brown-Moton future OL

Much rather play the Jets week one than week nine or ten.... they have a lot of speed with their rookies and adding a big target like Corey Davis will huge for Wilson. I also don't see Darnold tossing 4 TDs and us running 1 in against a Robert Saleh defense. Prediction: Darnold : 295 yards - 2 TD - 1 INT CMC : 140 total yards - 1 receiving, 1 rushing TD Robby : 7-95-1TD Defense feasts on Wilson and causes 4 turnovers. I see a pick-six or fumble recovery for a TD. Panthers win 31-19.

Dolphins Releasing Starting S and Team Captain Bobby McClain
Soul Rebel replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Interesting....didn't Hooker visit Miami already? I wonder if one is the first shoe to drop in order for the 'Phins to get the guy I prefer we sign, Malik Hooker. Not against McCain, but he'll be 28 in August and would honestly prefer to save the money and ride Burris for now at FS while bringing Robinson along as the third safety. I think Chinn spends way more time at SS this year which will allow Burris to play better. -
Any Glaring Needs Heading Into The 2022 Draft?
Soul Rebel replied to 45catfan's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
Kyle Hamilton screams a Phil Snow player and could rival Chinn as that hybrid rover....his athleticism and build is off the charts. Linderbaum would be an ideal "less sexy" selection, but fills a glaring need once we let Paradis walk. Interested to see if Rhule tries UDFA Moore as a center backup this year and envision him as a potential center long-term. Agreed though.... C, FS, LB are my three biggest needs heading into the draft. -
If we are going to add a FA, I prefer Hooker. If we sign nobody else but him, I'll be stoked. I do think Burris is in a good position to thrive next to Chinn, not Boston, with the front 6 or 7 in front of him....and a true alpha CB1 in Horn. Our weakness at CB last year along with weak LB play, and an inconsistent Boston, exposed Burris more, IMO. I wouldn't mind letting Burris and Robinson battle it out for our FS, TBH. Burris is 27 and Robinson just turned 22....lots of untapped potential there. I truly do believe our future SAF duo is Robinson and Chinn.

True class act. I read a story where he slept at a fellow players house on an air mattress bc he didn't know his future when he first arrived to Chicago. He welcomed the new guy with open arms and sent a nice shoutout to Chicago for giving him a chance. Sign him for Darnold and let Christensen learn behind a vet. Just not too long....Christensen will be 25 in September.
-
Depending on if the Panthers want to thrust Christensen in as a starter right away or not.
-
Nah, I'm good. I'm not looking for a 30 yr old veteran tackle. My comment was more about getting a 22-yr old center that looks like he eats nails and trains in Siberia.

I like Tremble the player and think he is a Rhule kind of player, just not at that spot. I would've preferred Meinerz in that spot.....Let him play guard this year and then slide over to C after Paradis' contract is up. In theory, could've rolled with a future OL of Christensen-??-Meinerz-Brown-Moton Don't know if Tremble would have been there with our next selection and I certainly wouldn't undo the ridiculous trade we made with Houston. That 4th next year is tasty. I hope Tremble can get coached up a bit in the catch/route running game, but he brings everything else you're looking for in a soon-to-be 21-year old raw prospect. Happy he's here bc he does fill a void....just would've preferred a Meinerz.

Not sure if your serious or joking.

Moehrig could be BPA as crazy as it would be for us to go CB/SAF. Jenkins or Radunz is who I want. Jenkins would probably need a trade up in front of Cincy who went Chase over Sewell. I hope some QB needy teams move up early in R2 maybe for Mills/Mond.
-
I mean, this could have been the plan all along. Secure a top-3 pick (Pitts/Sewell), send them Jimmy G and some other picks and get a HOF QB that still has some tread on the tires. Esp if GB truly believes in Love as the QB of the future.
-
Not after trading for Darnold AND being in position to take Fields/Lance at 8. We essentially moved up 35 spots from the pick traded to the Jets.

Patriots have talked to the Panthers about a draft day trade

To Carolina: 15, 46, '22 FRP & JC Jackson To New England: 8 & Donte -
Depends on who's there at 8, but IDK about comparing him to Bradberry. Horn has a 10.0 RAS score, which puts him at #1 out of over 1700 CBs. Bradberry was at a 9.17 and ran a 4.5 40 and 36.5 vertical. Horn ran a 4.35 40 and a 41.5 vertical. Horn is way more confident and explosive and an alpha, IMO. Metrics aren't everything, but I think Horn will be at another level 4 years from now.
-
I wouldn't hate him at 8, but a trade down could still get us Horn. There's a lot to like about him and he would give us a CB that could shut down his side of the field much the way PP/White/Gilmore do. Kyle Pitts said he was the toughest matchup he's had to face....and Pitts played against Surtain too. I hate the Saints, but Joe Horn was easy to like when he was there....apple shouldn't fall too far from the tree.

Analytics that will shape Draft Strategy or my name isn't MHS831
Soul Rebel replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agree that either Surtain or Horn should be in play at 8 IF Sewell and Pitts are gone.....maybe Slater too. Either of these two corners should give us the best corner we've had. Gamble and Bradberry come to mind, but I think these two can be better than them. However, I would also argue just as strongly for Slater at 8 and Samuel Jr./Stokes at 39. Stokes is a player I'm really high on and can see him being a beast as a boundary corner.
