Charlie Campbell: Panthers love Bijan Robinson
Soul Rebel replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think every GM in the league has Bijan in their top-5 overall players/talent. The article says if they don't go QB in R1, but doesn't say at 9. Fitts even eluded to trading back at his presser, so I could easily see where Carolina doesn't get a QB (for cost, their guy is gone, etc.) .... and drafting Robinson after a trade back. Especially if we sign Carr and have to choose between Boze and Foreman. Keep the OL intact and bring in a talent like Robinson in the teens. Done. -
I'll take that freaky quick burst and splits over a 40 time for an EDGE. Broad jump, vertical, 3-cone....how these guys use their speed/athleticism in space > 40 times,
-
That would require Reich and Brown being comfortable with Tremble as a TE2 and handling the blocking. They prioritize that and would, IMO, prefer a balanced TE over a receiving TE that can't block.

Gun to my head, I think the Panthers end up in one of three options.... Trade w/ SEA to move from 9 to 5 (cough up the SF 2nd + 4th + 6th) - take AR. Seems like our coaching hires were built for a player of this calibre and upside. Sign Brissett to a 2+1 deal. He can step in with knowledge of the system, win the NFCS and share his leadership/scheme understanding with Richardson in '23. Similar builds too 6'4" 225+ At some point in '24, AR takes over for Brissett, and we have a helluva backup vet in Brissett. Can void year 3 if need be. We sign Carr in FA. Reich thinks this is a 5-yr window Use draft capital to build around Carr. WR1 at 9 TE1 at 39 Defensive pieces at 60 & R3 Re-sign Boze + Foreman - Suleiman needs to earn his keep and manipulate the cap Kick young QB down the line...maybe '25. Draft Hooker by moving into the end of R1. WR1 at 9 TE1 in R2 I think Stroud and Young will cost too much and don't think we can outbit IND to get to 1. We "can" do it, I just don't think this coaching-GM braintrust is built to sacrifice what it would take. I think the coaching talent we have is primed for a guy like AR/Hooker/lesser QB and they can mold them into our system with talent surrounding them.

Wow, bold move by his agent. A lot of spotlight on a kid projected to go first overall with a HUGE situation to navigate around.
-
Wasn't White originally a SAF? Would prefer the tweet read "what Evero can do with Chinn". White is 6'2" 234. Chinn is 6'3" 220. Pass on White, spend the money elsewhere, move Chinn into this role.

Zach Allen could be an under-the-radar target with big upside at 25 years old. Allen is miscast in Gannon's defense and played in an odd-front in AZ these past few years, IIRC. Having Watt as a mentor the past two years is a huge bonus too. Allen and Brown would be great fits as 5-tech in Evero's D. 100% onboard with the cheaper of JJ III or Rapp for safety in FA. Both have ties to our new coaching staff.

On the BOA turf, dude will be out by game 4. I have always been a fan of Allen, but I can't see a guy like him or Woods here given their age. Campbell makes a bit of sense to see if he's finally turned a corner on the injury bug, but he too could feel the wrath of the turf monster. Ties to Reich and Parker are there too. Chark at 6'4" 205 lb WR that runs a 4.3 40 is nothing to sneeze at. Familiarity with Duce too. Pricetag might be too rich for our blood. Slayton could be a more affordable option. If we go draft, I'd also take a stab at Perry out of App St or maybe Tillman from Tennessee in the 2nd. I think Tillman is going to shine at the combine too.

Probably had for a day 3 pick + maybe a day 2 in 2024. Same age as Levis and Hooker and has been watching one of the greats the past 3 years. Use our draft picks to surround him with talent on both sides. Bring back Foreman and Boze with this coaching staff. I'm here for it.
-
Though I prefer to go younger and think our staff has "QB retread PTSD", I never did consider if Carr is in a similar situation to Stafford in Detroit. LAR gave up several draft picks to bring in an older vet on a shitty team. We wouldn't give any assets up and could bring him into a similar McVay/O'Connell/Brown situation. Plus, we get to keep our #9 + other draft picks not surrendered to move up. I'll trust Reich & Co. to make the right call.

Panthers met with Hooker per report
Soul Rebel replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
IIRC, Hooker was a one-read QB with happy feet and is coming off an ACL injury at 25 years old. I trust Reich/Brown/McCown, so if Hooker is the guy we go with, so be it. It's appearing more and more like Stroud/Young go 1-2 and then AR probably top-7 as Levis' stock is plummeting. -
Thomas Brown - A Closer Look (via The Athletic)
Soul Rebel replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think TE is bookmarked for that first 2nd round selection….if not perhaps moving up early 2nd. A Musgrave/Kincaid + Tremble at TE2 would be a menacing duo.- 21 replies

Levis was already my 4th of the Big 4 and this article makes me have more trust in Hooker. Levis has all the physcial makeup and blueprint to be a top notch QB1 but not any of the production/stats/tape to show that he can translate it over.
-
I hope there's smoke to this fire, because I would be stoked for Fields. I know he's primarily been a runner with subpar passing stats/tape in CHI, but the first year or two is the stage that is the toughest as these rookies get acclimated to the NFL. Fields has spent this time in Chicago and now we would inherit him as he's starting to trend upward. He would also cost a lot less than a move up for an unknown rookie. Also, Poles/Eberflus did not draft him, so maybe there is that old addage of wanting "their guy" and handpicking from the best of the best this year would help them reset while using draft assets to add players around Young/Stroud.

We have our coaches. What schemes will we run?
Soul Rebel replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wonder if Rapp is going to be too expensive for us as a FA. He is ideally who we need to bring in beside Woods and allow Chinn to slide down closer to the LOS. Bozeman and either Foreman/Jamaal Williams need to be our top priorities, but after that Rapp would be a huge get to solidify our backend. I think we can add a TE and DL in R2. -
Coaching Staff: Final Pieces (as of 2-23-23)
Soul Rebel replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just don't see any way that Carr is the answer at QB with the architecture of this coaching staff. It's gotta be one of two paths: Trade for Lance or Fields and still have draft capital to add more pieces Move up to get Stroud/AR/Young -
We are so set up for success for the next few years.... Evero and Brown are locked in, but have capable replacements that should be able to take over in two years. Wash could be back in play for a second tour as an NFL DC and Duce will probably take over at OC. I cannot wait to see what these coaches can do together. They are like Voltron and stronger as the sum of their parts. Very balanced between experience, knowledge, youth, ingenuity and connectability. I think the NFL is already talking about how different we are going to be and fearing what's about to come out of the QC. And for all of those that needed that warm and fuzzy "local ties/Carolinas native" filler, Reich has that covered too....and Capers....and Duce.....and McCown.
-
Hoping pen goes to paper today after Brown had a night to digest. Only holdup could be internal debate amongst leadership of Brown vs. Patullo maybe? I saw IND is eyeing JBC and Tee Martin for potential OC. I thought Patullo was a slam dunk for Steichen's right-hand man, but saw them interviewing multiple other candidates. I wonder if Reich wants Patullo and they are trying to decide.
-
It has been an entertaining offseason with a few curveballs. Harbaugh wanting to come here....nope. Payton potentially on the radar.....negative. Ben Johnson.....went back to be an OC instead of HC. Wilks.....thanks, but no thanks. Steichen.....pass. Evero and Caldwell interviewing for HC, but coming onboard anyway Capers as a Sr Assistant McCown, once considered for HC in Houston, comes onboard to help mold QBs Duce, once considered for HC in Philly, comes here as a RB coach One position coach to go, and I think it's going to be another homerun. The last thing we have on our "to do list" this offseason is get our QB1.....here's hoping we get it right.
-
Intriguing...... It would appear that we are down to JBC, Brown and I'm guessing, Patullo. I just don't see why Johnson would leave Philly with the program they've built and the ties to Jalen Hurts. Really hoping we announce Brown today/tonight and put a bow on this hiring cycle.
-
I really hope the Panthers are "showing interest" in order to drive up the price for the rest of the NFCS. There's no way Fitts, Tepper and Reich don't have PTSD after the past few years of other teams' castoff QBs. We could add two younger studs with the $32M+ we'd spend on Carr. Give me Da'Ron Payne at $19M per or Dre'Mont Jones at $10M, Okereke at $6-7M, or Geisicki/Shultz. Brissett isn't Carr, but the value he would bring at his $$ amount makes WAY more sense than a 32-year old Carr here.
-
Wide Receivers Coach: TBD - Hoping Wayne comes over from Indy Tight Ends Coach: TBD - Wonder if we hire Brown if Jake Peetz could be a boomerang option? Defensive Line Coach: TBD - Eric Henderson in LA won DL Coach of the Year. Doubt McVay lets him go, but would be a solid hire with ties to Evero and Cooley. The homer in me wants Buckner here for a reunion. Safeties Coach: TBD - Mike Mitchell. Please....and thank you.

Bieniemy was on a SB staff. Rumor is that all of those matchups and wide-open receivers were schemed by Bieniemy, and not Reid.
-
I don't really want Carr, but there is a decent amount of smoke & positives circling..... Oddsmakers having us as the top destination We were an average QB away from being playoff bound Reich's interest in Carr before Reich and Carr's religious foundations If Reich, McCown & Caldwell have a glimmer of hope for Corral, Carr gives them a year or two to evaluate/mold No need to give up draft capital to get a QB here; use draft picks to surround offense with a WR & TE Instantly puts us in the driver seat for the NFCS crown Keeps him out of New Orleans Third time's the charm for vet, castoff QB brought in to solve the QB1 issue
-
Herbert about to get $50M per...... 20ish% of the cap. IDK.....Lamar's injuries scare me and having a QB on a rookie deal is a blessing. If we give Lamar the $$ he's looking for, the team takes a massive roster hit with less money to spread around. Makes drafting and finding gems off the waiver wire and practice squads more important. By the same token, kinda hard to do when you trade three years' worth of R1 and R2 picks to acquire said asset.
