  1. Watford promoted Saturday, Bournemouth likely earning promotion today. I figured the automatic spots would go down to the last day, but Norwich & 'Boro pretty much crapped the bed this weekend.
  2. It was on beIN, but I don't get that channel anymore.
  3. What is your cable package? My TWC deal is pretty basic, but they show all the PL games. You just have to go to the Special Events channels.
  4. Haven't watched ESPN or listened to any sports talk radio this week. I'll turn on the game at 6:30.
  5. To welcome in the New Year in style, NBC Sports Group will air the first-ever Premier League Breakaway show as a full slate of games takes place on the first day of 2015. Following on from hugely successful breakaway shows for Major League Soccer in past years, the Premier League will now be front and center on January 1 as all the best action from the eight games which kick off at 10 a.m. ET will be shown simultaneously on NBCSN. In addition to airing Stoke City vs. Manchester United at 7:45 a.m. ET and Tottenham v. Chelsea at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN on New Year’s Day, Premier League studio host Rebecca Lowe will host the “whip-around” show (similar to the NFL RedZone) at 10 a.m. ET as every goal from around the grounds in the PL will be shown. You will not miss a thing. Here are some more details on the special show:
  6. Caught a couple of matches this weekend. I watched QPR-West Brom because I figured there would be some goals scored, and there were. How lost would QPR be without Charlie Austin? I saw my first Tyne-Wear derby a couple of years ago, and I never miss one. Even though the football isn't always that great, the intensity is always through the roof.
  7. I know. Honestly, "picking a team" is a pretty unnatural exercise. Grew up a Jets/Mets/Islanders fan because I grew up in NY, and my dad took me to their games. When the Hornets and Panthers arrived in town, they became my teams. Any English football team I choose is going to be at the bottom of my fandom totem pole. I think I'm more burned out on the BPL than anything else. There were many weekends last season where I watched 7 matches (including Mondays). This from a guy who rarely watches more than two NFL games/week.
  8. I've kind of checked out on the PL this year. I still keep up with it, but "Match Of The Day" pretty much covers all my needs. I guess that's what happens when you don't have a team.
  9. Am I the only one who hates watching matches at White Hart Lane? It feels like the cameraman is about plummet to his death at any minute.
  10. Can we just pencil in Burnley & QPR for relegation?
  11. Pretty underwhelming slate of matches on Saturday morning:
  12. I've seen a few West Ham matches this year. They look significantly better than last year's squad, at least when it comes to attacking. Burnley, QPR, WBA, and Crystal Palace are clearly worse off. I don't expect WHU to be part of this year's relegation scrap.
  13. Looks like Time Warner Cable is finally offering the Extra Time feature. About time.
  14. True story - About two years ago, I tuned in for my first English football match in years. Aston Villa versus West Ham. I decided to pull for Aston Villa, since I remembered them from the early 80's. It wasn't until West Ham scored that I realized that Aston Villa were the ones in the ugly lime green/black kits.
  15. Never mind. NBC's PL Team Picker says that it's Burnley, so I guess that's settled. Relegation, here I come! Again! http://www.nbcsports.com/premier-league-all-access?utm_source=FB%20-%20NBC%20Sports%20-%20NBC%20Sports%20Soccer&utm_network=facebook&utm_post=2922637&utm_tags=
  16. Not the PL, but just saw that Fulham FC will be posting complete match videos on their website, 24 hours after they end. I think that's pretty cool, especially for overseas fans.
  17. It's been announced that vanishing spray will be used in the Premier League this season. It has been tested for the last month in the Southampton area.
  18. For me, it ended when the feeder system broke down. There used to be a progression - late models>Busch>Winston Cup. That's why most Cup drivers used to be in their 30's and 40's - they had earned their way there. If Dale Earnhardt were a young driver today, he'd never make it out of the dirt tracks.
