  1. I imagine they want to resign burns and back load it some to free up space now. He is 16m or so against the cap next year. You can cut robby anderson and save 11m but still have 10m in dead cap. I hope he plays well this season and makes that not happen. Shaq has around 13m of his 24m cap hit that could be saved. However, he is needed imo. I was looking at the below to see our current numbers. Cutting cmc wouldn't free up much of anything. A trade would make more sense if anything. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/cap/2023/
  2. Agreed on the Seattle game. When Luke scored on the pick 6 after the offense had just scored was about as loud as I can remember a game being. I know I was losing my mind. I'm definitely a bandwagon hockey fan...I watch the playoffs when the canes play but don't watch the regular season. Playoff hockey is intense and definitely fun to watch.
  3. Winning does that. It was pretty electric during the last super bowl run. However there have been 4 straight miserable seasons for the panthers. I'll admit I've been to most of our games and its hard to be excited given the teams we have fielded. No doubt, the canes are exciting right now. I hope they have a good run in the playoffs.
  4. I really like cmc but giving any rb a massive extension after 3 seasons is dumb. If we had used the 5th year option, we would be resigning or franchising him now and his contract would be very different.
  5. I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that Corral's leadership is a strength. Idk if that's true but I suspect being comfortable with the media and being a good leader for his teammates are definitely two distinct concepts.
  6. Also, 80% of the time kick returners stick their arms out and watch the kick fly out of the end zone. The average game probably has 1-2 returned kickoffs. As long as Roberts is returning punts too though, he can contribute. We have been mediocre at special teams for so long, it would be great for that to change.
  7. True but I think the browns are gonna be more and more desperate as time goes on. They probably can't have baker in their locker room any more without distraction or problems and don't seem to have many trade options. They owe him the full salary if they cut him and then he could go to Pittsburgh or somewhere else that cleveland wouldn't like. (It would be nice for a trade partner to be the desperate ones rather than us)
  8. I'll take baker for darnold straight up all day. I might keep a little of darnolds salary to make that happen. Baker is simply better than Sam and would give us the ability to take Corral slow. Baker is gonna be mad and playing for his career and presumably healthy. If baker lights the world on fire and we are left with two good options, that is a much better problem than what we've had previously. If not, we would be out nothing.
  9. I really don't think we are "a mess". With average or better qb play, I think we could be around .500 and maybe a wild card. The problem is, in a worst case scenario, our qb situation is the same as 2010 with a weak incumbent and a mid rd rookie who may not be ready or may never be ready (see Jimmy claussen). If we have poor qb play, we may well be picking top 5 in 23. However, if Corral is the real deal, he could be a major cap bargain for 4 years. That can lead to an immediate window like Seattle had with wilson. I believe corrals total contract is not much more than 5 or 6 million over 4 years. It's easy to build a talented roster when the qb position is that cheap. Obviously darnold will be off the books for 3 of those years.
  10. It's funny they took him at least in some part as a great returner and he turned into our best wide receiver in our history.
  11. Cade mays it is on nfln on my tv.
  12. I heard him say that. Wonder if it would Pickett over Neal/cross or only if all 3 of those tackles were gone. That would have been unfortunate.
  13. Happy Thoughts. We could have taken Pickett at 6 and have no tackle. I like how this worked out. Instead we got a stud ot AND a qb to give us hope.
  14. I don't mind some cockiness in my qb. You need to think you can do anything.
  15. Espns comments after the pick Draft Analysis The Panthers drafted by far the best player available and also manage to get a potential developmental quarterback. It shouldn't be a surprise if Corral pushes veteran Sam Darnold with his arm strength and dual-threat ability. Coach Matt Rhule was rumored to be comfortable with Corral in the pre-draft process and now has him in his locker room. -- Matt Miller
  16. I'm gonna be optimistic. He could be an absolute steal. (Please be an absolute steal)
  17. If not qb, who is bpa. I'm happy with Howell or coral tbh
  18. Now 70 people approved and 0 disapproved. I didn't think 70 of us could agree on anything tbh.
  19. Hard to entice him to sign a new contract that way.
  20. I said many times last year when casual fans asked what was wrong with the panthers that "no one could win with our offensive line". I really hope it is actually fixed. They have definitely made a good effort to fix it.
  21. Hopefully our answer at lt for years but Daniel Jeremiah has this quote... Worst-case scenario, he slides inside and becomes a Pro Bowl-caliber guard if getting a pro bowl guard is worst case, I can live with that. Jeremiah had him #3 overall fwiw
  22. I'm shocked at the positivity in here. I love the pick too.
  23. I try to avoid kiper and I like eisen so nfln for me
