  1. In my opinion we will regret passing on young if we do so. That’s not to say Stroud won’t be good. That’s just to say how good I think young is going to be.
  2. We may like Stroud and Young equally now but one of those guys is going to seperafe themselves at their pro days. Once that happens, it doesn’t matter what Houston offers. You don’t risk losing your guy after giving up that much.
  3. I don’t think Burns is going anywhere now. With the hiring of Evero, he’s going to be the most critical piece of that defense (was already that but even more so now) Were going to have a stingy defense this year keeping us in games as the rookie takes their lumps. 2024 is going to be the leap year where the defense is solid and the offense starts to be catch up with the defense. It’s not unimaginable that we win the division with a rookie this year as it stands now. I’d think Reich could have a similar type impact that Pederson had in Jacksonville. Our situations are really similar. Young QB, awful division, new proven head coach taking over for a train wreck college coach, some nice pieces on defense with a few years worth of top ten picks, key free agent additions likely at the receiver and tightend spots.
  4. Where does this mindset come from? The rams swung big on Goff, missed, and won a lombardi in the process The niners gave up the farm for Lance, haven't even played him, and have found themselves as one of the best teams in the NFC for the last four to five years. First round picks are great, but they aren't the end all be all to building a winning team in the nfl and not having one for two years, sure as hell shouldn't be a prerequisite for a decade of failure. The panthers drafted Jason Peter, no pick due to the Gilbert trade in 99, and Rashard Anderson in 2000 (basically forfeiting three consecutive years of first round picks). They were in the superbowl in 2003.
