This is very sad to here about. I’ve visited r/panthers several times. I hope his family can find peace during this difficult time. 41 is a young man with his entire life ahead of him. RIP.

This was the point I was trying to make about the OL from Western Iowa or whatever crap school he was at drafting him #6. Data does not support drafting a player from that playing field #6 overall especially if there are other OL prospects from the P5 available. You just don’t do it. I’m not saying he won’t make it in the NFL but at #6 is a colossal reach.

The sexual predator aspect is bad enough but according to several credible NFL beat people, Watson does not want to play in Charlotte and will not wave his NT clause. so in the midst of a possible career jeopardizing investigation with serious ramifications on and off the field, the Panthers still tried to trade for him and he told them No thanks. If the Panthers had a good coach, and even a remotely adequate OL then I’d be all for it. But he will not be in a good spot here the way things currently are and a lot of people already have an uneducated and misguided opinion of him. Especially in a state where people who had to go EZU or UNC-Rawlee because they couldn’t get into Carolina or are duke basketball fans don’t want to put their selfish ego aside and pull for a Tar Heel. Again, Mitch ain’t coming here. The guy is in a fantastic spot now and why on earth would he want to come play for a team with a coaching staff that could be gone by week 7, no clear direction from management, and arguably the worst OL in the league. So he can come here and get his brains beat in and have loud mouth ignorant fans calling for his head after the team doesn’t put him in position to be successful? And the coach who is coaching for his job on a weekly basis can pull him for PJ Walker after he throws an interception.

Whataboutism apples and oranges selective memory you do NOT draft an OL from a school like Northern Iowa #6 overall. Period.

I didn’t watch 5 seconds of the senior bowl. Drafting a guy who played at a no name college and played against crap competition every year is not a guy I’m trying to draft #6 overall. I’m not saying he won’t be a good player but this is a reach and would be a bad pick.
