Ummm Fitt signed him not Marty, it was ridiculous the money he gave him and Dante Jackson.

You’re right, a backup QB is more important than a starting WR and RB. I guess we both see who actually watches football and who doesn’t loser.

Panthers to host former Vikings WR Adam Thielen
NJPanthers89 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
A rock solid 33 year old vet. I wouldn’t hate it for 1 year, but he can barely make it through each season lately. Would be a great outlet on 3rd downs and in the redzone, but you can’t even count on him taking a full complement of snaps at his age. I’m not exactly sure why he would want to come here lol -
The answer is literally NOT on the roster. I'm fine with TMJ being our WR2 and having a big roll, but he's not a WR1, i think we have seen enough to concede that. Shi Smith sucks, and Ian Thomas sucks. The RB room is laughable. So tell me whose on the roster that your speaking of? Is Laviska your savior?

I tend to agree, but the thought process was literally we will give up anything to get a franchise QB. DJ Moore unfortunately was collateral damage, so be it if we get a franchise signal caller for the next decade plus. I love DJ Moore but i'm also not gonna pretend he was Justin Jefferson...But yes you would think with the mediocre cap space we have that it would behoove this staff to prioritize WRs, TEs, and RBs, instead we are signing S (im a fan of Von Bell) and a NT we didnt need until switching schemes. We usually have playmakers and no offensive line/QB, i guess this year we will have the QB and Oline but nobody to get it in the endzone consistently, quite the change. I don't expect all the holes to get filled in one offseason, and the WRs i coveted haven't been signed yet, but it seems like they are doing everything but what needs to be done to improve the offense which was the worst part of our team again last year.
-
Outside of getting the top overall pick which is great, they have lost our two best offensive weapons in less then a year (CMC, DJ). Our other best weapon Foreman is a FA. Von Bell was a good signing, as was Bozeman. The rest of the signings are literally whatever. We have the worst offensive playmakers in the NFL, and its not even close.
-
I'm glad this was a priority when we have literally no weapons to speak of in the WR, RB or TE room. But hey Andy Dalton is going to be a great mentor.. This is a horrendous signing at this stage of FA..

The Panthers without a doubt have the worst offense (skill position wise) in the NFL right now. You can't name a team that is worse off at WR, RB and TE. They have to sign, trade, draft skill players or it's going to be very ugly. Thankfully they will...

I'm not on board with either OBJ or Thielen for what they may cost, but i certainly don't want to watch Shi Smith drop balls all year. He should be on the roster bubble imho.

Richardsons athletic ability make Cam almost look pedestrian. Thats not a knock on Cam , That’s how much of a freak athlete this kid is. If Reich and staff think they can get him caught up in the passing game by year 3 then it’s a no brainer. At absolute worst he’s Justin Fields running down everyone’s throat for two years. Stroud can throw accurately, but when the pocket breaks down as it often does in the NFL, how consistent will he be. That’s what this staff needs to project..

I like Foreman but would prefer a guy who can be an elite 3 down back..Kareem Hunt anyone?

DJ Moore was a WR1, and a very good one. He’s all around a better player than Sutton, but he’s gone. Sutton like DJ has been plagued with horrendous QB play. Based on the guys available via trade Sutton is the best available considering age as he’s only 27, size/ability. Nuk is great but that’s very short term. Sutton is the perfect replacement for DJ.
-
I’m fine with TMJ as our WR2, but give me a strong WR1 in a trade like Sutton, and sign Paris Campbell to man the slot. Plus whoever we add in the draft you now have a pretty talented WR room for a rookie QB to work with. TE will also have to be addressed..
-
I’m glad they are beefing up our already solid D, but the offense is literally bereft of talent. No skill position players on offense have signed yet but I’m still anxious.

If Bozeman plays hardball i could see the Panthers pivot to this...

Which of these FA WRs would you want to go after?
NJPanthers89 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Free agent wise the best 3 available are Jakobi, Paris Campbell and Lazard. DJ Chark is also very intriguing. If im Fitterer i'm looking hard into how much it would cost to acquire one of Hopkins or Sutton. Even a first year WR core of Sutton, TMJ and Paris would be fantastic for a rookie QB. TE should also be in play. Panthers have a ton of money available next season, they can practically sign whoever they want this year by structuring the deals with future money. That's the advantage of having a QB on a rookie deal, load up the rest of the team while they are cheap. -
So then, we’ve got a WR corps to build. What do y’all got?
NJPanthers89 replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Paris Campbell is the name to watch. Shouldn’t be too expensive and has high upside. Is he a #1? No way, but he’s a very competent WR to have. The only real WR1 available is Nuk, and I’m not sure the Panthers have the ammunition to acquire him after this trade. Jakobi is a borderline WR1, who I really like but not for the money he’s going to command. Lazard is a very solid WR2, and DJ Chark is still young with some real upside as well. Hopefully we stay away from Juju.. Panthers can really change the WR room quickly with a combo of FA and the draft, but have to be smart about it. Flowers should be the target with the 2nd round pick, maybe Fitt has to trade up though to get him. This TE class is also the deepest in years, and some solid FAs as well. -

This TE group in the draft is considered one of the best in years. Wasting resources on a Dalton Shultz would be monumentally stupid when there will be studs in the 2nd and 3 rounds. Especially since they paid Ian Thomas whose awful for some reason already. Fitterers signing of Thomas and Djax were some of the dumbest moves ive seen since Hurney and thats saying something. WR i can see them being aggressive but who's really out there. Paris Cambell with the Reich connection? DJ Chark? We are not paying for jakobi Meyers whose the cream of the crop.

Ryan Poles trying to drive up the cost of the #1 pick
NJPanthers89 replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fitterer should be dangling Burns in leu of one or two of the future first rounders. Chicago needs a DE badly, and also has a $100 mill in cap space to sign Burns without blinking. Otherwise they should have traded Burns to LA and used that ammo (2 firsts reported) to move up for the QB of the future. -
I love Jimmy G, the guy just wins (and yes he's better than Carr let's be real). He's actually a really good quarterback and would be a nice get for this team as a bridge QB. The "problem" with Jimmy is the constant injuries. Which if anyone paid attention last year struck practically every Niners QB they had. Signing Jimmy also ensures this team can be competitive next year regardless if we draft a QB or not. There are no guarantees that we are going to land a rookie QB in the first this year. I expect the Panthers to be aggressive, im praying it happens, but i'm not dumb enough to think something cant go wrong and we get frozen out of a signal caller. The other team has to agree to the terms we offer, so it's not all in our hands. There are multiple teams in front of us that also want QBs. If we fail to land one of the 4, at least Jimmy will give us some stability in the short term. You can look back on my posts, i hated the Teddy signing, i also really hated the Darnold signing. Baker was a very low risk move that was worth exploring, it didn't hurt us whatsoever. Jimmy is on another level than those guys and i would be genuinely excited. Now i also don't think we are the leader to sign him, based on reports Vegas is the team to watch. I also have to believe Fitterer will have a good idea of our chances of trading up before free agency starts next week. So if the Panthers are aggressive in signing Jimmy, you can take that as a sign they are not confident a move up is happening and your stuck waiting for someone to drop to 9.

Was listening to Boomer Esiason this morning, he makes no secret that Frank Reich is his best friend. He spoke about Carr for a while this morning and the potential of the Jets signing him (it’s a NY/NJ marketed show), and Boomer is pretty adamant that it’s going to be between the Saints and Panthers and that he think Carolina is the perfect fit and where he sees him landing. Again he talks to Reich regularly . it might be settling in that we won’t be able to get down far enough to get one of the top 3 guys, which in that case makes Carr our best available option. Looks like Indy and Houston are guaranteed to take 2 of them.

Trading a picK for Jordan Love or Lance may be realistic. These are young high upside players who haven’t had much of an opportunity yet. It‘s a gamble but unless you sign a Vet who hits the market (which is rare) it’s always a gamble. I prefer Love to Lance personally. Again this all comes down to the draft and if the Panthers think they can secure the QB they want. A rookie signal caller should be priority number 1. I also don’t see much difference in Lance and drafting Richardson for example. Two high upside athletic players.

Hell no Daniel Jones is not the answer lol
