https://walterfootball.com/nflhotpress/article/If-Panthers-Don't-Take-a-QB,-They-Love-Bijan-Robinson Yeah walterfootball sucks I know, but there is no one else that consistently gets the Panthers picks right than Charlie Campbell from WalterFootball. (Brian Burns, Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, and Ikem Ikwonu has been his last 4 selections for the panthers in his final mock drafts of the past 4 years for reference) He is pretty plugged in with the Carolina staff. I would read heavily into this as meaning that if 4 QB's go early and we can't afford to move up there then don't be surprised if this is our target.

Panthers Scouting Assistant is Mike Trgovac's...

My wife has absolutely no interest or cares about football but can tell me exactly whats happening on the sidelines while on her phone the entire game. Some people are just exceptional at things I could never imagine being aware of. -
The Panthers will 100% trade up and draft a QB
thunderraiden replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
Why wouldnt it? Gives carolina the most leverage, and #3 gives Chicago even more leverage as well. They dont even have to stop trading down at #3 if they create a bidding war for the #3 QB in the draft. They just want the best defensive player while collecting picks. i'll admit the hardest part of this scenario to rectify is the simple desire of the Cardinals to move down to the #9 pick. I also dont see Indy having the stomach to trade multiple first instead of sitting at #4. Carolina clearly has the desire to move up, the official channels have been trying to get fans prepped for a trade up. -

with this development we can easily get the #1 pick for 3 first if we give each team a first and move cars to #9 Bears to #3 and us to #1. win-win-win -

If Darnold scores well the system is garbage and I never want to see it used again. -

S2 Cognitive test points to NFL Success

yeah bryce young is going first and we are getting a QB from the draft this year. Those two statements are true, everything else I dunno -
I don't know how aware everyone is to Scott saying we had a lot of cap space this year to make moves because of our warchest of cap space in 2024 but I went ahead and took some liberties with OTC salary cap calculator so we could all be on the same page: With just the obvious restructures of DJ, T-Mot, Donte, and Austin C who should all factor into the teams long-term plans, the extension of Burns which is obvious (a 100mill extension I gave him of 4 years dropped his salary cap figure substantially and that was even with a 45 mill signing bonus). I also cut Pat and Damien Wilson, two players no one will miss. I want to note that while I am cutting Shaq here for simplicity, its just as likely the team extends him because it would be around the same cost anyways as cutting him. With these basic moves that Samir has shown time and again he is willing to make, we have $52m in cap space for 2023 and $110m in cap space in 2024. This is why Fitty said be prepared this offseason for some fireworks. Also: For the "dont kick the can down the road" crowd, the contracts Samir gave last year were set-up to be able to do this. The way the salary cap works it has been figured out that if your owner has a lot of liquid cash (like ours) then you can manipulate it this way with restructures every year. Basically the only downside to manipulating the Salary Cap in this way is that you need lots of cash on hand as an owner (and also you restructure good players only) and not every owner has the resources to accomplish that feat.

To be fair, they are putting their money where their mouth is considering its betting odds.

Bozeman was on a 1 yr $3 mill deal with $10 mill in incentives... i can't imagine it equals out.

This is where I'm at, I trust that if we trade up its because Reich really believes in who we are moving up to select, if we stay pat we rated them all the same, I'm fine with either. But banging the drum about "NEVER TRADE UP" is the dumbest poo off all time.

Lol. We have spent looking for a QB since Cam left a 2nd Rounder, a third rounder, two 4th rounders, a 5th rounder, 6th rounder, a horrible horrible horrible FA contract, $19 million guaranteed on top to another, and many restless nights with poo all to show for it and we still have mouth breathers talking about "lets not move up in the draft"

I think Darnold sucks but hes still technically a kid to me since his brain hasn't fully developed yet; as an aside Hendon Hooker is older.

I not advocating for bringing Cam back, I'm just thinking about Geno fuging Smith making a career comeback and wondering what exactly happened to Cam's arm to be completely out the league? He still had decent running ability but his arm was the problem, just curious if we ever found out what happened to his shoulder? Could a full year off have improved it? He still hasn't retired so he obviously has his own thoughts on the matter. Just wondering if we could see Cam pop-up anywhere in 2023 after a year off?

Would love to have him for 10 mill a year after he's cut. Any more than that can kick rocks.

Giving a 29 yr old who is the best lb on our roster a two year contract is a marty hurney move now... wow

That's 2 3rd round draft picks right there.

Steve Smith on the Wilks vs Reich debate

we will have over $40 mill in cap space with the most basic of moves and still have over $80-$90 mill in cap space in 2024. That's enough to resign Bozeman, get a CB like Byron Murphy or Sean Murphy-Bunting or Chauncy Gardner-Johnson, a Safety like Donovan Wilson which allows us to put Chinn back at Linebacker and kill two birds with one stone, and a TE like Mike Gesicki or Dalton Shultz. We would still need an edge but I didn't see one that I loved in the list of free agents I saw outside of Marcus Davenport and I don't know about him anymore since he only got half a sack last season.
