Corral vs the rest of the rookie field
panthers55 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Of course injury derailed everything. My comment was assuming that now that he was injured and out for the year what was the best situation he could have come into. And it would be one with little pressure. No one thinks getting injured and going to IR is a good thing. We already planned to keep 3 qbs. -
Corral vs the rest of the rookie field

It was perfect for him because we had no expectations he would play here or we needed him to play. He got a free year to learn behind a playoff tested QB with a similar style to mentor him. He will have time to develop. -
Corral vs the rest of the rookie field

This is a perfect situation for Corral. Rehab and watch and learn. Come back next year ready to compete for the starter job. Mayfield and Corral are not that dissimilar. I can see Baker mentoring him. -
I hope you are right and that he signs with us. Our cap is going to be tight. Given what teams were willing to do for Watson I imagine a healthy productive Baker will be a hot commodity. If Brady retires and Mariotta sucks I can think of 2 division teams that would be very interested as it builds them up while taking away from us.

We all do. It has been tough especially going to games where we won only 2 home games last year. That is why I loved the preseason game even though it didn't count. It has been a long time since we have won anything to cheer about. But Baker is going to get us back to being a tough out if the defense holds up.

Could Buffalo be without their punter tomorrow?

I read he traveled with the team to Charlotte and is expected to play. -
Totally disagree. If Baker helps us get back in the playoffs he will be fine riding with this squad. After QBs know the success of the team rides on their back and there is talent around him. Unless he thinks this is a poo show, he will be loyal to us given he knows what it is like to be cast aside and will value loyalty in return which spells a multi year contract at the market rate.

Baker doesn't have to have a probowl year to be worth retaining. How many pro bowls did Cam have? 3. Jake 1. But they were our franchise guys. Because each in their own way made other guys around them better. They were fiery guys who were emotional and hated losing. Baker has that already with the team. Guys like his attitude and swagger. They follow him already. I don't care about milestone stats focusing instead on how many 4th quarter drives did you engineer for points at the end of the game. Are you in command of the offense and a leader in the locker room? Are you best under pressure. Do you bounce back and play well from behind?? He will improve if he can finally stay in one system and have a stable OC. He is a quick study and now we see if he can deliver the goods.

I suspect that by midseason Ickey will be playing pretty well. Most rookie linemen get abused no matter how strong until their technique improves. If he doesn't give up too many sacks that it gets in his head, he will be fine. We need to give him some help with guys like Garrett to help him hold his own otherwise we could lose some games while we figure it out.

You aren't worth a thread. I loved me some Delhomme and I loved Cam and hoping Baker is the next one in line. If not him then Corral in a few. As a Panther fan I wish good things for all our boys. That is why you are a troll. I don't understand supposed Panther fans hoping our players or staff suck and fail. And no I don't need a lame explanation.
