Anyone worried about coaching decisions in 2015?

hardly worth a response since there is nothing factual to respond to just a random opinion. -

One cherry picked fact from a 1000 others is hardly something to focus on unless you have an agenda and only pick what supports you agenda. I can pick just as many great plays from last year that worked. What does that prove?? -

You have to use who you got. Everyone knows you cover Olsen and Benjamin and make him throw to other guys who are not that good. Again one play doesnt negate the other 1000. You stretch is just as far with your cherry picking. -

Pass to endzone get intercepted when you have Beastmode at the 1. It sucks when it doesnt work for every team. Hardly negates the other 1000 plays. -

Playcalling wasnt the problem, execution was, on both sides of the field until late in the year. -

When will you and other critics of Shula understand that this offense is the one that Rivera and Gettleman want Shula to run. They like what he is doing and endorse his strategy which is why they don't criticize him or replace him. If they wanted something different they could fire him, or demand he change the system. They haven't done that for a reason. Shula is not on the hot seat at this point from what I can tell, anymore than anyone else. -

Cam has options to adjust the play based on what he sees the defense so. Sometime it is to call a different play all together or to adjust where the play is going or who is the primary receiver based on the defensive alignment. In the hurry up he calls all the plays at the line of scrimmage. In fact he has a lot more input than he ever did under Chud. -

Funny how everyone uses a poor O line, no healthy backs and a cadre of JAGs at receiver as an excuse for why Cam puts up mediocre or poor numbers but bash Shula in the next breath. Seems to me as the O coordinator he has the same offensive conditions as Cam and was just as hamstrung with lack of talent. Shula wont be confused with an offensive mastermind by any means but when given the talent to run his system he can and will do a good job. -
I don't know where you get your numbers but there is not a different franchise tag for inside linebackers versus outside linebackers. The number is 13.1 for linebackers for 2015. That will be the numbers they will have to pay him if they tag him and it goes up from there. What are you babbling about?
-
With the franchise tag being 13.1 million this year and going up each year after that, I wouldn't be surprised to see Luke make 15 million a year average. Could be more, who knows. But after seeing Cam get paid he will be expecting to be paid as well. Cam was paid top 3 money for a quarterback and Luke will want to be the highest paid middle linebacker in the league. And deservingly so.

Stephen Hill and Corey Brown Impress at OTAs
panthers55 replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am most interested in seeing whether the added weight and strength will help him stay healthy this year. Whether he is a 3 or a 5 will be related to the number of snaps he gets. That will depend on how often he is on the field. He made some good plays when he was healthy. A number 3 has to be able to step up and take as many snaps as needed and be as productive as a starter on a quality stat like yards per reception. Brown is going to have to be stronger and quicker to avoid being hurt like he was last year. And he is going to have lots of competition for that spot.- 53 replies

A little trouble in paradise (Seattle)? RW contract talks
panthers55 replied to nctarheel0619's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am sure that the defense argument is something that the Seattle management is using in their discussions with Wilson. And Wilson is saying it was the offense and 4th quarter comebacks which made the difference. Truth is that it was the New England defense that won that game after Wilson drove them down to the 1. But yeah that is why these negotiations are not cut and dry. -

There is nothing to rebutt. No is arguing that many of the things you said may be true. They wont matter in a negotiation over salary and contract. Sure Cam's agent will bring it all up and Gettleman will just say he disagrees and the way these negotiations go is that they look at the bottom line. You are talking apples and those of us talking contract are talking oranges. That is what you dont get or you would stop making the same old excuses. Dont tell why the rest of the team let him down or how he couldn't do it alone which is true, Dont tell me about lack of weapons or O line because that again wont carry much weight. Tell me how he compares in bottom line stats or results that he deserves the same money that Wilson does right now. That would include how many 4th quarter comebacks he has versus Wilson's combacks. Performance in playoffs and head to head match-ups. Quality stats like TD to INT ratio, completion percentage, etc. Rushing TDs. ( I am trying to help you here) There is an argument to be made that could carry weight but what you have talked about so far wouldnt carry much weight. I dont mind discussing it if you can give me something that is germaine to what will be discussed in a contract discussion. -

Most of the folks here defending Cam are just pointing out why he hasnt been as successful as Wilson and want to justify it. As you noted they dont understand the business side of it and those excuses will be made by his agent but will carry little weight. I think this year will go a long way to determining what happens with Cam and both sides know it. I bet Gettleman is hoping that Cam has a fantastic year so when he does get the big bucks both sides will feel they have their guy for the next 6 or 7 years. But as you note, right now Cam would be top getting top 10 money not top 1 or 2 based on his results. -

You obviously dont understand the difference between a content argument and a process argument, so I wont go back and forth. I dont have to read more than you think Cam was plug and play for the NFL like Wilson was to know this is going nowhere. You take every comment as a cut or put down to Cam and that is the filter you read everything through. And you have since you started posting. Nothing new there. I get all the reasons he hasn't been as successful and as I said many are legitimate. But if you ever have been part of any negotiations you know that excuses don't care much weight, results do. He will still get a ton of money but in all these negotiations they line up your stats, results, and other factors and compare you to what other guys are getting paid. Of course there are always exceptions like Romo who got paid a ton with little results. If I were Cam I would using him as my comparison not Wilson. Again this year should be a huge factor given he can't complain about weapons, defense, or even coaching. -

No need to get all defensive like usual. I am a big Cam supporter since the day I wanted him here. Have his jersey and wear it to most games. I think he is going to have a great year and perhaps justify the money he wants given he has some good weapons around him. This year will go a long way to determining what he gets paid. He knows it and the Panthers know it. If he takes us far into the playoffs he can use that in the negotiations. If he doesnt, then he really has little to say if comparing himself to Wilson in terms of results. It wont matter whose team was better just who has had more success. After all how much success did Seattle have before Wilson? The two year before he gets there they go 7-9 both years. Since he came there- 11-5, 13-3, and 12-4. Cam cant come close to that. Those are just the facts. In negotiations excuses dont go very far just results. Doesnt matter if the excuses are legit or not, they still are excuses. Lets be honest for a moment, Cam was not ready for the NFL when he was drafted, Wilson was. Cam is catching up and with his athletic ability can pass him. But to this point it is still Wilson with better results. -

That is why a deal will get done because it is in our best interest to sign him long-term to get the early cap savings and the signing bonus is the reason he wants it as well. That signing bonus is guaranteed when it is inked. Each of the franchise tags are 1 year fully guaranteed contracts but they all aren't guaranteed up front. He knows now that injury is a real issue and can happen in the blink of an eye. If he got hurt anytime during those 3 years. the guaranteed money dries right up. -

I am sure he will but considering we can franchise him for at least 2 years before he is making 20 million and there is no signing bonus and it is a series of 1 year contracts we get him for at least 7 years for less money than signing him long term. Getting 40 million guaranteed as a signing bonus is a strong incentive to sign. Plus Wilson has been more successful than Cam in less time. Cam has the stats but Wilson has what is valued in the league which is wins and stayed healthy. Truthfully Cam should not get as much as Wilson based on results. -
NFL says Pats guilty, and Brady knew

That is why this is really bad in my opinion. He didn't need to cheat to win so why do it ? Unless he wasn't sure of his team's ability to win or he wanted to win so badly he was willing to do anything to do it. The problem with that organization is not that they want to win so badly but the ends justify the means and they will do anything to win include bend or even break the rules. -
I hope and expect us to be fine. Remember it took Hardy and Johnson a few years to really be productive. DEs have to build up their repertoire of moves and strength in order to be able to attack the offense on passing downs as well as hold the edge. I think that Alexander and Ealy are going to come into their own. Plus both Horton and Addison. Need to step it up if they don't want to replaced . Given the push we are getting at the DT tackle position it makes it hard to double the DEs which should help the line in total. Given we also blitz quite a bit we can get pressure a number of ways.

If fans and boosters start giving him money and perks to come here it will feel just like college all over again for him.

No I am comparing violating the conduct rules which you can do a number of ways. This actually to me is similar to taking steroids. You are knowing doing something to gain an unfair competitive edge. -

I think Brady will be suspended. Otherwise the other players who have been suspended will be in an uproar. I don't want this to be a racial issue but I could see if a white player walks no matter how famous while Lewis, Hardy and other black players are punished, I promise you the race card will be quickly pulled out.
