  1. Truth is you need to compete each year to the best of your ability if you don't want to get even worse as all your players jump ship. So you have to have a mix of vets and young guys to learn from the Vets. So do you need good vets on 1 or 2 year deals to be competitive and show the young guys the ropes? Absolutely. Andy Dalton was brought in specifically to mentor Young not be a long term solution. I would think Clowney would be as well. Bring in young guys like Young or draft picks for the long haul. I heard Clowney had some dog in him. I know he was bit by a dog early in his career. Maybe they can both resurrect their careers here. If anyone can motivate them it is Evero.
  2. No clue how things will go this year but like usual I am optimistic. Only now I won't be making any bets on us like I did in the past. I am fine with the changes because let's be serious, how much of a 2-15 team do you want to hold on to.
  3. Which week? It was a turnstile every week with different bodies in and out with various injuries. I hope these new guys can stay healthy all year. That would be a big upgrade in itself.
  4. True but he was going to paid either way. Just not sure it was all about the money, maybe it was.
  5. So when you have nothing of value to add you go for the personal attacks. How very immature and huddle like. Usually my turn to exit when the conversation devolves to this level.
  6. Morgan's job is to get the coaches their guys. I wonder how Evero felt about Luvu and whether he had any say in the matter. Or did Luvu not like our system or was it all the money?
  7. You clearly don't know how to read. I didn't compare them as players I compared them flaming out in past systems and then said Baker found a good fit and had a career year under Canales. If Canales is able to do for Young what he did for Baker then guys like Thomas could also be productive. Up until last season Baker did not have a great career and he was thought washed up. None of what you said is even tangentially related to what I said.
  8. And you are the board clown who never has anything worth paying attention to.
  9. Got a pretty big deal for a JAG. Didn't say he was great. I said he sucked in this system and was considered washed up. He went to Tampa is a better system and had a career year. It proves just because you struggle somewhere you can go to a better system and thrive. Reading comprehension isn't your strong suite I see.
  10. I doubt the decision is ours. I imagine Luvu is going to see what he is worth. Hopefully he likes Evero and will give us a chance of first refusal.
  11. You mean like Tampa keeping Baker and Canales taking them to the playoffs with him after other teams dumped him. Because players can't thrive under one system and suck under another. How long have you been watching football?
  12. And you were there when the decision was made so you know who was for or against it. Seems you are the one making things up. I guess he was in on the Hurst and Bozeman decisions so why is he canning them.
  13. Hopefully you aren't as premature in other areas like you are in making judgements.
  14. Obviously Canales thinks differently. Plus with Hurst gone we have to find a number 1 tight end already so it was a low risk low reward move. I am sure we will bring in a draft pick and maybe a vet on the cheap.
  15. Last year is irrelevant. It is 2024. Why do you save money keeping him? His dead cap hit is right at 3.8 million. His cap hit now appears to be right at 4.5. But to replace him at the rookie minimum it is 750,000 so replacing him with someone with any vet experience will cost as much or more than replacing him. So no it wasn't wrong to keep him if Canales has use for him in his offense.
  16. That isnt true at all. If his remaining dead cap is almost 4 million and his cap hit has been reduced to a little over 4 million he costs very little to retain and S long as he is gone after this year Morgan did a good job getting something for very little.
  17. You save money keeping him not releasing him and he is gone after this year so no you are wrong my friend.
  18. It wasn't that we wanted to keep him. Releasing him cost more than keeping him and getting a salary reduction. A June 1st designation kicks dead cap down the road. This way we pay less than releasing him and get his blocking. He is worth a backup roster spot
  19. If you release him you lose more money and have to replace him and pay his replacement. I don't think you understand the finances here. We saved money and kept him without pushing anything down the road from what I have read.
  20. Dead cap is a combination of all monies that will become due and payable if you trade or release him. In this case 6 million. It is not all money restructured in the past but what is left. Each year the dead cap money changes as the guaranteed money on which the dead cap is calculated gets used up or is increased if you guarantee more money. Since this is the last year of his contract his restructure is reducing his base salary to lower his overall cap hit which consists of all guaranteed money not yet accounted for (signing bonuses, roster bonuses) and his base salary. You can't push money down the road unless you extend him which is not what I have heard. If you release him then the whole 6 million cap hit becomes due unless you designate it a post June 1 cut which kick dead cap down the road which you bitched about. Right now his cap hit has been reduced by his salary reduction. It is pretty simple to see.
  21. Actually so far it looks a successful protect the plate, make contact single over the middle with 2 strikes on him.
  22. Have you seen the terms. Until then why keep going with speculation. With a new GM and new cap manager, bringing up the past may not portend the furure. I read a pay cut but no mention yet of any signing bonus to kick money down the road. And this is all part of tagging Burns and still having cap room to acquire free agents. Plenty of time to bitch when the facts unfold.
  23. For some their hope is tied to their confidence but for me it is exactly the opposite. Hope isn't based in confidence or reality, hope is my belief that somehow things are going to get better even if it doesn't seem like that based on the past. If you are confident you don't need hope because you believe things are going well. When they aren't going well being optimistic and having hope becomes a choice even if I am not confident it will work out. Do I have confidence Morgan can fix this? Way to early to know but I am very hopeful it will be much improved over last year. It is the difference between circumstances dictating your emotions and attitudes versus preserving your sense of calm and control through your circumstances whether they are positive or negative.
  24. You have to try and field a competitive team or it kills the desire of everyone on the team that is trying to win. You have to get cap room to bring in free agents and sign your draft picks. Should we do a ton of restructuring? Depends for who and how much. Should we restructure Moton somewhat. Yeah and add on a few years and maybe a voidable year to lower the cap since we plan to keep him. Will that hurt us down the road? Not unless Moton falls apart or has a career ending injury. The old one size fits all approach never works. You have to evaluate every situation individually and intelligently.0
