  1. You don't know what his potential is and your take Darnold was a terrible qb is overblown and refuted by facts. I am interested in what Reich thinks though. He might not want Sam because he isn't his style of QB or he may have a personal relationship with one he likes better. That is his call. But he will be on someone's roster this Fall and honestly I wouldnt be surprised if PJ is as well.
  2. Let's see what the new regime thinks first before deciding what they should do.
  3. Sam played the hand he was dealt and did what he could to help the team. He helped us to 4 wins in 6 games and managed the game which is his job. At the end of the game it is about wins and losses and scoring points and he did that pretty well.
  4. It is because we don't have PTSD that we can evaluate Sam objectively. The folks with PTSD don't want him based on 2021 which carried over to negative evaluations this year that were not based on the facts. I don't think you understand what PTSD is or what it causes and yes I do.
  5. It is about keep swinging for the fences. We need to draft a rookie, develop Corral and find a veteran qb as a backup or starter until the young guys are ready. I want a winning season this year and am doubtful that who we get in the draft no matter who it is will be ready to start day 1.
  6. So he had a bad game that we won. Truth is he went 4-2 and managed the game well. He made throws and moved the chains. Even with the Saints game he averaged scoring 24 points a game during that stretch which was above the NFL average. And that was coming off IR playing for McAdoo. His quarterback rating was 92 with a couple of games over 100. He was more than serviceable and had Horne played in the Tampa game he would have taken us to the playoffs. You can dislike him all you want but his play was not the problem at the end of the year. Should be interesting to see what Reich thinks about him.
  7. In the last 10 drafts no more than 3 were picked before our pick at 9. Just saying....
  8. Darnold went 4-2 in 2022 without his best weapon and an OC who wasn't that great. Imagine what he could do with Reich who is a quarterback guru and will bring a good scheme for our qbs to thrive. I will be very interested to see how Reich sees him and whether he thinks he fits with our future plans.
  9. Any money you say you will pay him if not guaranteed means nothing. So you can restructure and extend him for cap purposes risk free beyond next year which is all he said he wanted. By converting salary to signing bonus you can kick the cap to when we have plenty of room and he costs us a lot less in 2023. And he actually said he wants to be here and that money wasn't the primary factor.
  10. You can keep Shaq another year by giving him an extension through 2025 with voidable years. His base salary iis 12 million and the rest is cap hit from restructures and signing bonuses. I am sure you can restructure where you can reduce his cap for 2023 which is his last year playing. The voidable years just help manipulate the cap.
  11. I am fine with Reich getting his guy whether in the draft or FA. He should know what he wants and who he can develop. He also has a win now mentality so while he won't do anything crazy to win now at all costs he is going to be aggressive which Fitterer will support. Since his future is going to largely ride on the qb he chooses, Reich gets to pick his guy. He knows he needs to find one given his career in Indy and his opportunity here were marked by failure to find that stable franchise quarterback.
  12. And Cam would have lasted a lot longer if refs didn't let defenses go helmet to helmet on him claiming he was a runner. Because he was such a physical mismatch for most secondaries and even linebackers he was penalized until they further tightened the rules to protect players from concussions and head injuries.
  13. So does Fitterer also get all the credit if we go to the playoffs and we win the division? Or does he get blame if we suck but it is a collaborative effort or due to Reich if we do well. Just asking for a friend.....
  14. Too soon to judge the 2021 or 2022 draft. Common thinking is it takes 3 years to determine if someone is a bust or boom. Plus if you hit on half your draft picks and nail the first 2 or 3 rounds you have done a great job. As for free agency if you aren't making splashes signing big name players to big contracts you are looking for serviceable guys and often Jags for depth or starting if needed. Overall I think Fitterer has done a pretty decent job with the roster being much better than when he inherited it.
  15. You can't pick unless you know for who at what number. Except moving to 1 is a hard no. But to 3 for who? Stroud or Levis? Richardson at 5? Yeah it matters. There is not a huge gap between 4 or 5 quarterbacks and after the combine who knows who moves up or down. But we will sign one for sure. We are going to keep swinging.
  16. I was thinking that if Reich made Staley OC then he had decided to call plays. Many potential OCs might not want to come here if they can't call plays or think it is a Bienemy situation which hasn't exactly garnered much HC interest because he isn't considered a true OC.
  17. I hope so. Outside of Andrew Luck few rookie qbs were worth 3 1s and potentially more. And Luck got hurt.....
  18. Again over the last 5 years with the exception of Mac Jones, what rookie qbs who played all season had winning records their rookie year. No matter where they were picked.
  19. What kind of apples and oranges is that? Comparing a QB draft choice with a guy in the NFL. The point is while they might think that Young or more likely Stroud might be better, that isn't the choice. It is whether keeping Fields and a bunch of picks is better than picking Young or Stroud at 1. And that is an easy one.
  20. I don't think he will be great either out of the chute. I would have a vet to start and put in our younger guys as they are ready to take over. If you read my posts you would know I don't like to start rookies unless you have to or they are an exceptional talent. For example look at how well Bradberry is playing now. You remember how often he was abused as a rookie.....
  21. Says the guy who changes his alt all the time and thinks it funny to act like a middle schooler and poo on everyone's post he doesnt like or in this case stalk me around the site. Truth is you are much closer to that title than I am. But unlike you I ignore you for the most part until you make personal attacks.
  22. I remember everyone saying he was a project. Why would that have changed.
  23. Actually a lot of it was Lawrence. He was not good but again few rookies are. And yeah they were a dumpster fire as well. But that is not the same case with Chicago. I hate to say it but how many qbs have ever been good for Chicago? https://www.fanduel.com/theduel/posts/greatest-quarterbacks-in-bears-history-01e93v2hdrg1
