  1. Says the Matt Rhule PTSD survivor with Darnoldnoia - the condition where survivors report flashbacks to 2021 which causes temporary blindness and tunnel vision and tendencies to obsess and engage in repetitive compulsive rants.
  2. Totally agree so just stop doing what you accuse everyone else of doing. The emperor has no clothes.
  3. What vet qb will be better than Darnold and cheaper who wants to come here? Just asking for a friend......
  4. No need trying to change the mind of someone who has already decided the answer and tries to manipulate the facts to fit their agenda. Kinda of hope he stays if nothing else but to liven up these threads.
  5. And you are mixing apples and oranges. In 2021 he had a different O line, different coach and different OC than in 2022 with very different results. The big improvement in his play with a decent line and a real NFL coordinator is the only reason I think he could fit into our future plans. No one wants the Darnold of 2021 and you have to get over the bad memories to deal with the present. And it isn't just me. Most folks who saw him play in 2022 talked about his improved mechanics, improved decision making. His accuracy was spot on for the most part. Seems there are more haters here than most anywhere else. He will be a backup somewhere next year. Don't know where though.
  6. You are wrong on several counts. Darnold does what his OC calls. He does have some options based on defensive looks but it is limited. Second why would you pass when you are running the ball down their throats? Was that because Sam couldn't pass or Wilkes wanted to run the ball feeling the o line does a better job run blocking versus pass blocking. Look at the games we couldn't run like Pittsburgh. He was 14 for 23 for 225 and 9.8 yards per attempt and a passer rating of 108. How about the buccaneers where we ran for around 100 yards. Yeah he was 23 for 37 for 341 yards and 9.2 yards per attempt. Yes his completion rate was 58.6% but the biggest stat is that he threw for over 8 yards a reception. 40% of his passes were for 1st downs and he threw 17 passes over 20 yards which would translate to almost 50 in a whole season. He played much better than he has at any time in his career with a qb rating almost 20 points higher than his career average. He may have been bad for the Jets and in 2021 but he was significantly better in 2022 with a real OC who obviously was let go so we can expect better in the future under Reich. No Reich may prefer someone else but Darnold played his best ball by far in 2022 with competent players and coaches for the first time. Again I am not clamoring for him but fair is fair and your evaluation reflects your own bias not reality.
  7. You don't know what his potential is and your take Darnold was a terrible qb is overblown and refuted by facts. I am interested in what Reich thinks though. He might not want Sam because he isn't his style of QB or he may have a personal relationship with one he likes better. That is his call. But he will be on someone's roster this Fall and honestly I wouldnt be surprised if PJ is as well.
  8. Let's see what the new regime thinks first before deciding what they should do.
  9. Sam played the hand he was dealt and did what he could to help the team. He helped us to 4 wins in 6 games and managed the game which is his job. At the end of the game it is about wins and losses and scoring points and he did that pretty well.
  10. It is because we don't have PTSD that we can evaluate Sam objectively. The folks with PTSD don't want him based on 2021 which carried over to negative evaluations this year that were not based on the facts. I don't think you understand what PTSD is or what it causes and yes I do.
  11. It is about keep swinging for the fences. We need to draft a rookie, develop Corral and find a veteran qb as a backup or starter until the young guys are ready. I want a winning season this year and am doubtful that who we get in the draft no matter who it is will be ready to start day 1.
  12. So he had a bad game that we won. Truth is he went 4-2 and managed the game well. He made throws and moved the chains. Even with the Saints game he averaged scoring 24 points a game during that stretch which was above the NFL average. And that was coming off IR playing for McAdoo. His quarterback rating was 92 with a couple of games over 100. He was more than serviceable and had Horne played in the Tampa game he would have taken us to the playoffs. You can dislike him all you want but his play was not the problem at the end of the year. Should be interesting to see what Reich thinks about him.
  13. In the last 10 drafts no more than 3 were picked before our pick at 9. Just saying....
  14. Darnold went 4-2 in 2022 without his best weapon and an OC who wasn't that great. Imagine what he could do with Reich who is a quarterback guru and will bring a good scheme for our qbs to thrive. I will be very interested to see how Reich sees him and whether he thinks he fits with our future plans.
  15. Any money you say you will pay him if not guaranteed means nothing. So you can restructure and extend him for cap purposes risk free beyond next year which is all he said he wanted. By converting salary to signing bonus you can kick the cap to when we have plenty of room and he costs us a lot less in 2023. And he actually said he wants to be here and that money wasn't the primary factor.
  16. You can keep Shaq another year by giving him an extension through 2025 with voidable years. His base salary iis 12 million and the rest is cap hit from restructures and signing bonuses. I am sure you can restructure where you can reduce his cap for 2023 which is his last year playing. The voidable years just help manipulate the cap.
  17. I am fine with Reich getting his guy whether in the draft or FA. He should know what he wants and who he can develop. He also has a win now mentality so while he won't do anything crazy to win now at all costs he is going to be aggressive which Fitterer will support. Since his future is going to largely ride on the qb he chooses, Reich gets to pick his guy. He knows he needs to find one given his career in Indy and his opportunity here were marked by failure to find that stable franchise quarterback.
  18. And Cam would have lasted a lot longer if refs didn't let defenses go helmet to helmet on him claiming he was a runner. Because he was such a physical mismatch for most secondaries and even linebackers he was penalized until they further tightened the rules to protect players from concussions and head injuries.
  19. So does Fitterer also get all the credit if we go to the playoffs and we win the division? Or does he get blame if we suck but it is a collaborative effort or due to Reich if we do well. Just asking for a friend.....
  20. Too soon to judge the 2021 or 2022 draft. Common thinking is it takes 3 years to determine if someone is a bust or boom. Plus if you hit on half your draft picks and nail the first 2 or 3 rounds you have done a great job. As for free agency if you aren't making splashes signing big name players to big contracts you are looking for serviceable guys and often Jags for depth or starting if needed. Overall I think Fitterer has done a pretty decent job with the roster being much better than when he inherited it.
  21. You can't pick unless you know for who at what number. Except moving to 1 is a hard no. But to 3 for who? Stroud or Levis? Richardson at 5? Yeah it matters. There is not a huge gap between 4 or 5 quarterbacks and after the combine who knows who moves up or down. But we will sign one for sure. We are going to keep swinging.
  22. I was thinking that if Reich made Staley OC then he had decided to call plays. Many potential OCs might not want to come here if they can't call plays or think it is a Bienemy situation which hasn't exactly garnered much HC interest because he isn't considered a true OC.
  23. I hope so. Outside of Andrew Luck few rookie qbs were worth 3 1s and potentially more. And Luck got hurt.....
