Did anyone see the Chris Berman highlights were he knighted Chuba as the Chuba Missile Crises when he scored against the Chiefs? It was great! I guess Chuba has made it to the big times. It's on X but I have no idea how to embed it so here's the link. https://x.com/i/status/1861239538753970359

The main point I am trying to make is Bryce made the throw and it should have been a TD. I just don't see how you can say he was just "okay" today. Here's some of what he did: Drove down the field in 44 seconds for a score at the end of the 1st half. Led the Panthers on a 9 minute drive to start the 3rd finishing off with a TD pass to Moore. That's 10 straight points. In the fourth he drove the field leading to 3 and then on the very next drive drove the field leading to a TD to tie the game. Again, that's 10 straight points. I am not saying it was perfect - but surely that is better than just okay

They also called a facemask on the Panthers when it clearly wasn't. I always thought the rumors about the Chiefs getting good calls was just that but am not too sure after today.
-
I thought putting more points on the scoreboard was how you win.
-
BY played way beyond just "OK" today. Tommy Tremble holds onto the ball in the end zone and the Panthers win today. I would venture to say the only reason the Panther's were even close was of his performance. It sure as heck wasnt because of the defense or rushing.
-
If TT holds onto the ball in the EZ, we win
-
Can't make the receiver get open and you cant make the tight ends hold onto the ball
-
The pass to Tommy Tremble was spot on. Tremble has to come down with that. The pass the Theilen was spot on on the 2 pt conversion but he was slammed in the head.
-
So what. The Panthers got the win both times. Bryce did exactly what was needed to win - complete the pass when it was there and protect the football - nothing more. I could care less what his yards per pass attempt is so long as they get the win.

I believe that title actually belongs to JaMarcus Russell

Y'all are crazy. How's that saying go: insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting different results. Every year, the Panthers get a new QB and when they dont immediatley live up to expectations, everybody wants to get rid of them and start over. Bridgwater, then Darnold, then Newton, then Mayfield then Young and now everyone wants to discard him and start over again just so they can get a Justin Fields or a Trubisky or a Rosen or a Jones or a Mac Jones etc, etc, etc. I wasn't a fan of the pick but I'm tired of the revolving door and I've seen enough over the past three games to make me believe there may actually be something there. Darnold, Mayfield, Geno Smith were all promising QB's put in terrible positions who floundered and consequently disgarded but through some miracle, are all playing at a high level now. Sometimes development takes time.

Caleb Williams Stats over last 3 games: 48 of 95 (51%), 468 yds, 0 TDs, 0 Ints, 1 Fum, 0 - 3 record Bryce Young Stats over last 3 games: 55 of 88 (63% ), 521 yds, 4 TDs, 3 Ints*, 0 Fum, 2 -1 record *He’s actually thrown 5 TDs to 2 Ints but 1 TD was called back because of a penalty in the Giants game and the interception to Legette could/should be a fumble as it was a beautiful pass. I know Young and Canales get a lot of hate around here and some of it is justified, but you have to admit that what they’ve been able to do over the past three games with a cast of rookies is a vast improvement from last year .

Legette was 3 for 4 on passes his way and Coker was 3 of 8. I think Coker could wind up being a steal but not sure your being fair to Legette here
-
He's fine. He's catching 64% of his passes and impressively, 58% of them are for first downs.
-
He was 3/4 today so it was just the one drop. Coker was 3/8 on the other hand
-
I agree. The problem is I know at least 3 of them where on 3rd downs ending drives. When your coach is not asking you to throw it often, they all count I guess I'm just trying to point out that while BY may not have lit it up today, I can't help but think he was better than a lot of people are giving him credit for given the drops at critical times.
-
Does anyone know how many drops the receivers had today. I know Legette had one and I believe Moore and Hubbard both had one but how many did Cooker have? I believe it was 2? And how many of the drops where on 3rd down?

As are the Panthers in case you havent noticed.

And Kirk Cousins is 36 and look what the Falcons just paid him. Matthew Stafford is also 36 and while he barley got to the playoffs with the lions, he won a SB after leaving. Now I'm not saying Dalton is Rodgers or Matthews good and I am not expecting them to win the SB but I don't think his age should be a concern.
-
It's not pretty BUT, Marvin Lewis was his head coach those years and his playoff record is 0-7. The other two years he had Carson Palmer in the playoffs and the results were the same. Not so sure its a reflection of Dalton as much as its a reflection of Lewis.

Is it to early to revisit the Corral vs Malik Willis debate?
cranky replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Really. Kirk Cousins is 36 years old and the Falcons just signed him to a 4 year, 180 million contract. Aaron Rodgers is 40 and just signed for two years at 75 million. Matthew Stafford is 36 and I think the Rams are still pretty happy with him. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss him simply because of his age. QBs are protected much more than they used to be, health science is more developed and he has less wear and tear from sitting than all the other QBs listed. -
Sometimes when things are going bad you have to look for the silver linings. Some people around here seem to forget that.
