  1. Say a 2nd for Darnold versus trading multiple 1st's plus a 2nd (at least) for Field or Lance.. Its absolutely worth kicking the tires
  2. Good for him.. Seems like a good kid, works his ass off.
  3. Its hard to make chicken salad out of chicken shite... Snow had about as little to work with as any DC in the NFL.. I Think the results were quite impressive considering some of the names we saw playing meaningful minutes.
  4. These are all just filler.. none of this is even close to reality until the interviews start.. No Combine is going to change things a ton, once the interviews and workouts getting started is when everything gets real. Rhule and gang falls in love with a guy all bet are off.. Just wait till things start going nuts and Mac Jones ends up going in the top 7.
  5. This is the same dude who had to eat a newspaper on TV because he was so sure the Texans would take a QB and not Clowney #1. He may be right on the Jets deal. They have the most attractive package to work from. But he's a sports writer with 45 years of experience covering a team that's played 19 seasons and whose leadership has been there about 45 minutes. I'll roll the dice he knows about as much as anyone on a Texans message board.
  6. Well damn... AS long as a reporter said so.. I can imagine another fanbase taking something as gospel because David Newton said it to be fact.
  7. I don't see any way he's a 1st ballot guy, not with the "fights". Character matters in those votes. TO it took 3 years, same for Michael Irvin. Chris Carter took 6.. All had some skeletons.. Hell, Art Monk took 8, and he was all world well regarded. It will happen, he's one of the 25 best to ever play the position, but don;t lose your minds if it takes a few years.
  8. Didn't realize I didn't paste the key part.. 3. Carolina Panthers (via mock trade with MIA through HOU) Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State Eight of the Panthers' 11 losses were one-score games, running back Christian McCaffrey missed most of the season and the defense was an improved unit this year. But Carolina needs a QB it can build around. Teddy Bridgewater is under contract for two more years -- with a potential out after the 2021 campaign -- and can serve as a bridge, but his 15-to-11 TD-INT ratio in 2020 left a lot to be desired. The quarterback-to-Carolina rhetoric isn't new, but some might be surprised to see Lance as the pick rather than Ohio State's Justin Fields. Both possess strong arms, both are highly competitive, both are sturdy in the pocket and can pick up chunks when they decide to tuck it and run, and both can hit the deep ball. But in going back to the tape, I think Lance goes through his progressions a little quicker than Fields, who gets stuck on his primary read too often. It's tight, but I think Lance has an edge.
  9. I hate to derail this.. but in the 235 threads I’ve seen with some form of “beating WFT cost us ....” did you people actually watch the WFT game? The Panthers were not remotely good in that game Washington looked like they were actively trying to lose the game, rather than win the NFC East Had Rhule punted on 2nd down every possession I’m still not sure Haskins could have done anything positive. Ron Rivera is who you need to blame here. I’ve never seen a team less prepared or committed to winning an NFL game. Hard to lose a fight when your opponent takes a dive in the 1st round. Everyone still hung up on it needs to get the fug over it. Back to the point. that’s too much to trade.. if you are raiding multiple drafts, do it for Watson.. if not DW, stay the course.
  10. Trade: Carolina moves up the board OK, my guy Mel Kiper Jr. waived the no-trade clause on our mocks, so let's have at it. The Panthers give the Dolphins a call in this scenario, seeing a chance to jump the line to get a quarterback at No. 3. Miami originally acquired this pick via an August 2019 trade with the Texans, but now hand over the selection to Carolina in exchange for the No. 8 pick, the Panthers' second-rounder (No. 39) and a 2022 first-rounder. It'd be a great haul for the Dolphins, who just barely missed the playoffs this season and can now build even further around QB Tua Tagovailoa. But it's also a good price for the Panthers, who need their QB of the future HARD NO. trading up to 3 will cost a ton. Trading up to 3 for a complete unknown is sub optimal. https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2021/insider/story/_/id/30862243
  11. You don’t pick a team for the NFL HoF. You are in and the team you played for are listed on the summary under your bust.
  12. He will make it, but it will take a couple of years.
  13. He's been phenomenal.. I knew he'd be a joy to watch passing, but the entire package is flat out impressive. He's got superstar written all over him
  14. The Athletic has a good breakdown.. They had people being trained on video review, the wrong guys made the call. They knew they had it wrong almost immediately.. Once that pucked dropped it was a done deal. The NHL should have intervened right then rather than waiting till the intermission. Would have been a real kick in the junk if they let up a PP goal in addition to the bad goal.
  15. The real question here is what was the league thinking allowing the goal. It was clearly offsides. I have no issue pulling the remaining time on the PP. Columbus got screwed once, screwing them twice would have been a bit much.
  16. We have totally left the rails on the Buc's being turds. I think the real issue here is many of these guy make silly money for a short period of time.. I can't blame any of these guys for living the life of a multi millionaire.. I bet 90% of NFL guys fail to do is treat that 3, 5, 7 year pay window as a 40 year income source.. Living like you make 15 mill over 5 years is going to mean there isn't generational wealth waiting at year 6 let alone year 40. I was going to lump NBA guys in here, but they are making absolutely insane money all guaranteed.. them and MLB guys have such an advantage of guaranteed contracts.
  17. The point (I believe) was not that it was a ridiculously large sum, but part of a larger trend that too many NFL players are unable to make sound financial decisions.. Not to derail, but the average NFL career is 3.3 years. Sports Illustrated had a study that showed 78% of NFL players are either bankrupt or under significant financial stress within two years of leaving the game. So yeah.. He had a good point.
  18. Bridges isn't a top 150 player in the league, based on pure math that makes him a JAG. And as I initially said, I like GH, don't mind his base salary. I thought it was stupid to add 9 mill to the cap in for 3 years just to acquire him. He is looking like one of the best FA's.. But that only illustrates that Charlotte isn't a destination as his only real competition GH need to pass is Al Jefferson for all time best FA. Teams like the Hornets need to get lucky in the lottery and can't whiff on 1st round picks if they want to be upper echelon teams. Ball is the 1st step.
  19. Terrific dialogue. what exactly do you disagree with?
  20. B 2018 Draft- his first Bridges is just another guy, and trading SGA for him (regardless of the prearranged nature of the trade, its a bad look. You never want to give up the best player in a deal).. Graham saved his rear here. 2019 Draft- His best so far. PJ is solid if unspectacular. Martin and McDaniels have been useful pieces 2020 Draft- Ball was a layup- you shouldn't get extra credit for nailing a #3 pick (who was widely viewed as the best player in the draft) . Jury is out on the 2nd rounders Kemba Walker- As mentioned not trading him at the deadline was a huge mistake. Rozier is fine (but could have also been signed as a FA if you were hell bent on having that player). You ended up getting 50 cents on the dollar from a commodity standpoint by holding on and letting him walk. That might have been MJ's call, but it was a bad one regardless. Free Agency- I like Gordon Hayward as a signing. I don't hate Gordon Hayward at 30 million per.. I do Hate Gordon Hayward at 30 mill plus the 27 million additional over 3 years stretching Batum to that was required to sign GH. This team wasn't a SF away from competing for the East. And hurting the cap for 2 additional seasons is WTF move considering there are still several gaping holes on the roster. They are a better team today, but I think at the expense of future cap flexibility. The fact this team doesn't have a big that can play dead in a cowboy movie is a problem. Charlotte will unfortunately never be a big FA destination, you need to hit on all your 1sts and be savvy with your cap. I can't say either have been done historically, and Mitch hasn't been spectacular in either regard.
  21. I will admit Hill is a possession receiver....... if he's on the receiving end of a doobie..
  22. The operative word in Wide Receiver, is receiver.. Hill has hands so bad the Venus De Milo feels bad for him
  23. I don't if we know enough to say for sure Gettleman's M.O. is to build through being frugal in FA... Its hard to eat at Ruth's Chris when you have 3 dollars in your pocket. This is the first year he's had some real money to play with, I think this is off season are uncharted waters.
  24. If cleared.. He got a multi million dollar screw job by the Baton Rouge PD.
