Oh I’m seeing it. This forum has done nothing but cry for months now. Counterpoint. Don’t win a super bowl and see the meltdown of having Luke and Cam for years and achieving virtually nothing. Those almost no way to make you guys happy. But just because some of you are threatening to not watch next year if you don’t get what you want (a different QB) doesn’t mean the smart thing to do is sell the farm for a QB. That simply isn’t how you rebuild. I’m sorry you don’t like to hear it but it’s the truth.

Dolphins fans think we’re desperate

It’s odd observing this place continue their expert analysis on why we need to sell the farm for a QB, using Herbert as reference when about 95% of this place was sure Herbert would be a bust at this same time last year. -

Good point. No QBs in the history of this league have had success if they weren’t drafted in the top 10... -

Preaching to the choir. I’m right there with you. Give me a stud LT or CB this year. We can get the QB next season -

The Huddle: Trading one player for all those picks? That’s how you build a team! Also the Huddle: We should trade every pick in the next three drafts for a QB! Any QB! If we don’t get one right now then we never ever will!- 16 replies

Giving up more than 2 firsts for an unproven rookie is just a bad idea, especially when we are FAR from “just a QB away” right now. Keep building the roster. If we can’t get a QB now then get one next year. This is the second draft under the new regime, first draft for our new GM. The team is still rebuilding. We don’t need to go giving away multiple 1st round picks right now

Completely agree. I would be very happy with this move -

Considering some people here were wanting to give up 3+ first round picks for Wilson, I would MUCH rather give up a 3rd for a guy who was just as highly rated coming into the draft a few years ago -

I think he was underused with the Jets. I think he can be pretty damn good if he had a legit staff and talent around him. I’ll be honest, even as a Jet he has impressed me considering what he’s had to work with and the staff that’s been running them. Excluding Matt Ryan’s best two seasons, you could take what he’s been throughout his career and I could see Darnold on par with that. -

I have no problem with Darnold. I don’t believe he can ever be elite, but in the right system he can be very good. If we could get him for a 3rd then I would absolutely be on board. -

Compared to what we have had at LT since Gross left? Miles better. My point is that you don’t have to sell the farm to get a QB and we don’t have to get a QB now. Suppose we trade 3 firsts for Wilson. Then what? We won’t have the opportunity to draft an elite prospect at LT in the first round for the next two years AND if Wilson doesn’t pan out, we set ourselves back another 5 years by having to recoup what we lost and still find another QB. All for a kid who played against minimal competition at BYU. We just need to be patient. Stop trying to force the QB situation and just build a talented roster right now. That’s how rebuilds work. -

I edited all of them with their draft spots. Half weren’t even in the 1st round. Out of those that were, almost all were picked 10th or later. The idea we have to sell the farm to get a franchise QB is just wrong. Not only that, it would be foolish to do so. History backs me up on this. Stop panicking. We have another year or two to get the franchise guy. Go ahead and get his LT this year. We will be sitting on an elite LT prospect at pick 8. That’s fine. What’s the rush? -

I hear that. I’m on board for Darnold 100% I’m just not on the camp that the sky is falling. I think things are actually playing out pretty well for us regarding the future of this roster right now. -

Where was Big Ben drafted? 11th pick. Where was Russel Wilson drafted? Third round. Where was Drew Brees drafted? Second round. Where was Aaron Rodgers drafted? 24th pick. Where was Lamar Jackson drafted? 32nd pick. Where was Josh Allen drafted? The 7th pick. Where was Pat Mahomes drafted? The 10th pick. Where was Tom Brady drafted? The 6th round. Should I keep going? You guys keep claiming we have to give up ludicrous draft capital if we ever want to get a QB. I’m tell you that you are wrong. I brought evidence to support my argument. I can provide more if needed. -

In my mind the way things have gone down so far seems to be putting us in prime position to draft a stud LT to protect whoever our future QB is going to be for the next decade. I’m more than fine with that. There will be more QBs in next years draft. I don’t want to watch Teddy for another year, but I didn’t expect us to be in the playoffs this year anyway. Get me a LT and keep filling the remaining roster holes. Get the QB of the future next year. -
Smartest thing I ever did on here was realize to stay the hell away from that circus

I’ve been visiting this board for 15 years or so now and I’ve always found this place miles ahead of other team message boards in terms of intelligence to team operations, the cap, trade value etc. I have really lost faith in all that in the last 4-5 years and this offseason has really made me question of all the smart posters just took off and went elsewhere. Holy poo it’s gotten pathetic around here.
-
He doesn’t suck yet. New staff has had one draft. New GM hasn’t had a draft yet. And bad news for you champ. He’s the owner. Unlike a head coach, you are stuck with this one for a luck time. Might as well swallow that and start hoping for the best cause good or bad, he ain’t going anywhere. But yes. It’s too early to tell if he’s good or bad yet. Your comments are reactionary
-
While I agree that Hurney should have been gone day one, I also can realize Tepper recognized he wasn’t the guy and found a replacement. It probably should have happened earlier but I recognize he has fixed that mistake. Again. We lost Luke and Cam. The entire board agreed it would be a 3-4 year rebuild. It’s been one year. One fugging draft. And people are losing their poo over not trading away 3+ 1sts for a QB. The problem isn’t Tepper so much as it is impatient fans with short term memories and near sightedness
-
Nope. But he hasn’t done anything to make me say he sucks yet either. You are the one that is saying that and that is an overreaction. He hired an all new coaching staff one year ago. He hired a new GM that’s just stepped in this offseason. I’ll repeat. We all knew when we lost Cam and Luke that this would take 3-4 years. A year later and YOU are the one saying he sucks. I’m still giving him the time we all recognized it would take.

I mean getting a stud LT this year and drafting Howell next year would have been my best case scenario that didn’t involve us getting Lawrence. In my mind we are still two years away from being truly ready. Give me a LT, CB and fill up the remaining holes on the lines this year. Next year give me a QB and retain our young talent coming to the end of their deals. This is working out brilliantly for me. I would rather have a lock at LT this year than a project QB who may hold this process back even longer. -
Why nothing matters anymore
TheMostInterestingMan replied to RIPTreyLance's topic in Carolina Panthers
Then we will be picking high enough to get a QB next year. The sky is not falling. Making a bad decision because “I don’t want to watch Teddy play next year” is not how you run a football team. -
Ah yes. The classic “Tepper didn’t trade away 3 first rounders for a QB currently accused of multiple sexual assaults or for an unproven rookie who may well be just as bad as Teddy B because we’ve never seen him play in the league so he sucks and isn’t trying to win” take. Smart. When we lost Cam and Luke everyone here realized that this rebuild would likely take 3-4 years. Fast forward a year later and this place is littered with this utter nonsense

TheMostInterestingMan replied to RIPTreyLance's topic in Carolina Panthers
It isn’t for Teddy B. Most of us understand the league will continue to exist beyond next year. We will have another QB one day, why do you insist it has to be right this second? We are in the middle of a rebuild. We don’t HAVE to get a QB right now.
