  1. If this doesn’t work out then remember we didn’t mortgage the future for it. Trading up in the draft for a QB that didn’t work out would set us much farther back than this did. All I’m saying is keep that in perspective. I’m optimistic that Darnold could turn his career around here. But if he can’t, we are only out a 2nd. We aren’t married to him like we would have been in a trade up scenario
  2. I hear your frustration. But I’m a fan of this team foe 20 years now and this don’t think you are being very measured. Darnold may not work out. If he doesn’t, he only costs us essentially a 2nd round pick. People wanted to trade three 1sts for a unproven rookie that played one game last year against no name competition. Tell me honestly, which sounds more unreasonable?
  3. 2015? That when you became a fan? Lol. I’ll just keep repeating, we all expected this to be a 3-4 year rebuild. It’s been one year. Calm your tits
  4. Think it says they aren’t sold on the QBs not named Wilson or Lawrence. So yeah. Not so much because of Darnold but because we were never considering Fields or Lance to begin with
  5. Judging by your negative overall rep, I can see you keep it really real. Rock on
  6. One season (where this board thought we would be the worst team in the league) and this is your take. Reasonable. Not reactionary in the slightest. Good for you
  7. Well you have 45 rep on your current account. I’m basing this theory on the numbers. Good luck to you.
  8. That’s your opinion. But if you are being objective it’s pretty obvious Lance has WAY more hurdles to clear than Darnold. Lance is a project pick. Banking on him to be the franchise guy is as outrageous at this point as how you feel about Darnold. And I’m a Lance fan.
  9. Dude is still 23. Was Tannehill a bust? Again, I grant you the 5th year option. Other than that, I fail to see how the sky is falling. And you keep referring to him as a “QB project” which is fair enough but what do you think Lance is?
  10. I love this trade. I’m not going to say it’s better than Olsen. Darnold may not even work out and we could be searching for a QB next year. But we didn’t give up our future to get him and if he does work out then we will be in incredible shape going forward. It was definitely a good trade for us as I see it
  11. Calling him a bust is pretty premature. He’s got a legit arm. There’s no denying that. He was playing for the Jets. The point has already been made, but Gase is terrible (see Tannehill) and he had no weapons (see Cam in NE) This is probably the first time in his career that he’s legitimately been put in a position to succeed. He was not put in that position in New York. And if he doesn’t work out then we are out a 2nd. As opposed to all the draft capital this place has been clamoring on about us trading to get a QB... a QB that likely didn’t have as much praise coming out as Darnold for what it’s worth. That’s perspective everyone should be keeping in mind. This dude was certainly considered a safer prospect than Lance or Fields when he entered the draft. But we only gave up a 2nd for him. Give the dude a chance. Don’t pretend he had one with the Jets. He didn’t.
  12. I know that. But MANY on here have been. If this doesn’t work we are out a 2nd and probably in position to get one of the top 2 prospects next year. I don’t see how this is where people think the franchise is doomed. This actually seems very reasonable to me.
  13. And if they had thrown three 1sts at a small school prospect and it didn’t work out? Lol okay man
  14. They gave up a 2nd. Basically they gave up one 2nd round pick. Considering many here were campaigning that we give up three 1sts for an unproven rookie, how is it in your mind that this is where we got swindled? If it doesn’t work out we lose a 2nd... as opposed to three 1sts. Yeah, firing everyone involved seems reasonable I guess...
  15. It has more to do with the fact we are more comfortable giving up a 2nd for a guy who was an elite prospect 3 years ago than giving up three 1sts for a small school unproven rookie. Spin it however you like, but the reality is most of this board has had no problem mortgaging the future for a DII prospect in Lance but getting Darnold for a 2nd suddenly means this franchise is stupid. I am relieved. I think Darnold has at least as good of a chance to succeed as Lance would have but we didn’t have to invest our next 3 years of draft capital to get him. That’s what has us excited.
  16. Trading 3 first round picks to move up and draft an unproven rookie is totally fine with you guys but trading a 2nd for a former top QB prospect means this team is doomed. Yeah. Keep the post in mind. You guys have lost the ability to think logically. It’s just emotional reactionary nonsense.
  17. I’m embarrassed for some of you guys. Genuinely.
  18. I’m now good with Pitts though definitely prefer Sewell or Slater. But I do not want to trade up for any of them. We are in great shape right now. If things click for Darnold in Brady’s offense then we just hit a home run
  19. He was. But was that because he was a great safety or because our line made his job significantly easier for him? That’s the point you know
  20. That’s true but not by a wide margin. Norman was a super star but other than that our safeties were terrible and our other CBs were subpar
  21. I don’t agree with the philosophy necessarily but it did work. We went 15-1 with that philosophy and had a damn good defense during that stretch. Again, it’s not my style but it shouldn’t be completely written off. It is valid. An excellent pass rush makes up for many deficiencies
  22. I’m not knocking Edwards or App St. But defending the decision to draft a QB from a small school like that to convert to WR rather than drafting one of the other dozen second round WR prospects that actually played WR in college was a terrible decision. Thats something you might consider doing in the 4th round maybe. The 2nd? That’s incredibly dumb. I mean, I would be pissed if we picked a QB from the national championship team with the intentions of converting him to a WR in the 2nd round. Why do that? There are still tons of actual WRs with high upside available. It’s nonsense.
  23. Let me also add drafting a QB converted to WR from a DII school in the second round. What an awful pick that was
  24. Trading a future first to move up and grab Everette Brown. Yet another example of aggressive/bold not always working out. It’s my opinion that it flops more often than not for these sorts of examples.
