Holy Crap - We have NFL football this week
TheMostInterestingMan replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Give her half of everything and get out with a sliver of sanity still intact... Kidding obviously! -
Talk to me how you are feeling about the Hornets now.
TheMostInterestingMan replied to Zod's topic in Charlotte Hornets
Perhaps the biggest benefit of this draft is it sets us up with a lot of flexibility. Suddenly, we don’t need to panic about Monk/Rozier/Graham. We landed a lights out scorer who can play the 2 and we can move these guys in trades if we feel we can’t hang onto them etc. Grabbing Kai Jones was massive. Once Bouknight fell I knew he had to be the pick. He was just simply the best player on the board. But up until that point, I was all in on Jones just for his potential. He won’t make a big immediate impact but he could absolutely be out starting 4/5 in a couple of seasons. His size and athleticism is unreal. He is 6’11 but runs like a gazelle. He needs to add weight but can run the floor and jump out of the building. Imo, we landed two future starters in this draft with tons of potential. We added it to an already young and talented core. For the first time, it feels like MJ has a team Charlotte can be proud of for a long time. -
Yeah this team looks set right now outside of a big and someone like Noel would basically solve that issue with the rest of the talent on this team. I don’t feel a strong need to move anything unless we are quite obviously winning the trade.
-
Oh they’ll be getting that pick. This team is at an absurd trajectory right now. Have look like we have put in place a young core that will be very familiar with playoff basketball for the next decade. Just have to watch the cap and coach this squad up. The potential is unreal.
-
Younger. More athletic. Immense upside. Hell of a day for the Hornets. Oh my, how Mitch has changed this team.
-
Love it. We have done amazing tonight.
-
I love Kai Jones. Hope we didn’t have to give up too much for him though
-
I was gonna say. DJ is 100% in that group.
-
Rather be boring than a moron
-
Oh. I just realized you’re a fugging idiot incapable of thinking intelligently. Have a good one then, dumb ass
-
It would be amazing to move up and get any of those guys but Kai has been my guy for a couple months now. That said, I’m glad we took Bouknight. I never really considered him an option because I assumed he would be gone. But I really love Kai’s upside. He has serious potential if he can add some weight and muscle.
-
Virtually every scout has him as a top 5-6 player in this draft and one of the most complete scorers. It’s fine to have an opinion, but you are spouting out complete bullsh*t. That’s why everyone is busting your balls. 10 teams passed on him. You may be right about him. But your reasons seem pretty baseless.
-
Porzingis is one of my top five favorite players to watch because he’s a walking highlight reel. But he’s always injured settles outside too much. With his contract, hes not worth pursuing. Though I admit, if we did get him I would buy a jersey lol
-
“Shocker” lol
-
The dude is one of the best scorers in the draft lol. Most had him going 5-7 and we got him at 11. Not only that but now we have flexibility regarding Monk and Rozier.
-
Wouldn’t feel like a draft without it
-
I’ve said it since the trade. If he had entered the draft this year he would have been the 2nd QB taken. The talent is there. He just needs to be coached up. If he can work on his mental game, he can be a top half of the league QB.

The Draft Thread/Center,Center,Center
TheMostInterestingMan replied to rippadonn's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I’ve been on the Kai Jones train for a couple of months now. If we could grab him and one of the others mentioned, I would consider that a pretty solid draft. There’s no star player in that list, but it’s pretty unlikely there’s a star player at 11. And Kai Jones has immense upside imo. -
Is Joe Brady on the hot seat?
TheMostInterestingMan replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Brady would have made a decent offense with Teddy at the helm if CMC hadn’t missed most of the season. And we all saw Teddy’s limitations. I do not know if Darnold is the long term QB of the future or not but I do know he’s better than Teddy in nearly every aspect of the game. He’s deceptively mobile, has a stronger arm, can make absurdly accurate off balance throws and is not afraid to throw deep. Decision making might be the only obvious part of his game that Teddy beats him in and that can fixed with proper coaching and film work. I mean, he’s shown he can read defenses pretty well. I feel at times he tried to do too much because he felt he has to with what was around him. All that said, with a healthy CMC and even marginally better QB play, this offense will not have Brady on the hot seat. I know the popular flavor of the week is trashing Tepper, Rhule, Darnold etc, but in all honesty I anticipate a wildcard birth. This defense is legit. Can they hold teams under 21 most weeks? I honestly think they can. And this offense is more than capable of putting up points. The Falcons are not good anymore. That defense is as soft as warm butter. Hill leading the Saints is laughable and Winston won’t be much better. Thomas will be missing a lot of practice and possibly some games following surgery. I can see is better than both this season. Still behind the Bucs obviously, but I think a wildcard spot is in reach. Especially if Horn can be what we drafted him to be. -
Former Panther Kelvin Benjamin's attitude...
TheMostInterestingMan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
As I mentioned above. It was a stupid thing to say but not necessarily wrong. This board hated our offensive play calling and hated the weapons around the team. We have very little speed to stretch the field and no consistent threat opposite of him. Had he gone to a Reid, Payton, Arians type of offense then I’m sure he likely would have put up higher numbers lol -

Not to mention this board was just as critical about our offensive play calling and limited weapons. It’s not like he’s wrong in saying that really. -
Xavien Howard requests trade

LT is a big one. Having a legit FS for the first time in what feels like forever would be nice. I actually don’t think we are as bad at LB as this board makes it sound. It isn’t what it’s historically been, but I think that may be why this board feels it’s a major weakness. Having Morgan, Beason, Luke, Davis, Mills, Greene... we have been spoiled at LB. We are nowhere near that level, but I don’t think we are too far off from league average right now after signing Reddick and Perryman. I think Reddick moves around a lot. On the line and at LB with Matos, Burns, Brown and Jones on the line. That would give us Shaq, Perryman and Reddick at LB situationally. I think we are okay at LB -

Yeah, while I’m more optimistic than you about the future, I completely agree here. Especially when he is expressing his want for a pay raise (which he does deserve) and we are still figuring out what we have in a very young secondary. Any picks we trade need to be 5th rounders or later at this point. Giving up 2nds and 3rds doesn’t make sense. We’ve taken a gamble on a QB. That already cost us a 2nd. No more trading assets unless they are dirt cheap. And no more massive contracts other than resigning our in house talent until QB is figured out. -
Brian Burns: I go for the strip sack too much
TheMostInterestingMan replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am unbelievably excited for this defense. I know most on the board were ready for an offensive minded coach and I know that’s the way the league has trended. But I have always been more excited about having an elite, playmaking, frustrating defense. And this defense, on paper, is damn near there. If Horn can step in day one as a legit CB1 then this defense could be elite. What a fast turnaround. -

I would bet just a lot of demons he never worked through. Season long injury, mother passing, anger and now looking back at age 30 feeling like you wasted your golden opportunity NFL career. It could be CTE, but that’s hard for anyone to overcome. He may just be in a dark place and hasn’t found help to sort through it all.
