So who is better, Stroud or Young?
Matthias replied to Randolph Panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Kentucky is not really known for high QB picks. They aren't really known for much of anything concerning football. They are more of a basketball school. It's actually a good sign for Levis to get attention playing for this school. -

I'm in the see it to believe it camp. If Stroud becomes a good NFL QB, he may be the first significant one coming from that school. I wouldn't risk a first overall pick on those odds. The only thing that would break my line of thinking with this, was if Stroud was a consensus every 10 years generational type cat. -

The overall history tells us we scout the helmet if it's OSU. -

I have to ask, what is the fascination with these two Qbs? Shoot, Qbs coming from Ohio State should be entirely out of the question at this point. As for the Alabama QB, meh meh. The names should be Levis, Hooker, and in a trade back scenario, Anthony Richardson. Really at number one overall, Levis is the only guy I would personally consider. Yet again I can't stress this enough, any name coming out of OSU, that should almost be anathema at this point!!! -
Can someone tell me who was the last good QB who came out of Ohio State?

Seeing as how this team completely stunk up the joint on Sam Mills' day, we need to delay wearing our new get up this year. I hate to start a tradition of losing while bringing these bad boys out. Let's save these jerseys for a team that has a real head coach and coaching staff.

Play Darnold, he is the highest paid QB afterall
Matthias replied to FugginPoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Is he healthy? I would have started him last week. -
Will Levis come on down.

Is Jaycee Horn our top corner? I never seen a team's top corner blitzing so much.

Best cover corner?

Alright folks, if you are thinking we have a chance to get our first win this season, let me help you out in saying, it's not happening. We won't get our first win this season until Rhule has officially packed his bags and is out the door. Depending on who takes over as interim, it still may be a toss up. You know, the nfl power rankings before the season had us as the worst team in the league. They were right on the money with that one, and of course it is primarily because of our coaching staff. Take our defense for instance. Half the time I don't know if they want to play in the 4-3 scheme, or some wonky looking 3-4. We don't even have a proper mike linebacker to run either front. The only reason we've played close games so far, is due to the incompetence of the teams we've played. That actually might continue today with Famous Jameis, but I believe he's good enough and certainly has the players around him that are good enough to beat us today. All that said, we will certainly have the first overall pick next year. So for the off season, we need to wash the slate clean from top to bottom. If we can get draft picks for players, no one is off the table. If we can trade CMC, do it. If we can trade Brian Burns, it's time to start singing "Its so hard to say goodbye to yesterday". We have a stock market crash and we need to sale, sale, sale!!!

Let's just say, I'm going to be rocking Barkley heavy in fantasy this week.

We drafted the wrong OT. Ickey is going to struggle all year long, while Charles Cross looks like he already punched his ticket to the friggin Pro Bowl. Never, never, ever/ever/ever/ EVER draft an OT that has a freaking "/Guard" to his name!!!!!!!!!!!

Baker Could Be our “Brees”
Matthias replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
Alright OP, come in and get this work. -
My biggest problem with Chuba is that despite his size (6'1 over 200), he's not one for contact. He goes down pretty much as soon as he is touched, according to my observation. That was true last year, and it still appears to be true. Now, I know he's still young, but I should have seen some improvement in that area after a year of NFL weight training. I would be completely cool if he didn't make the final roster.

Man, y'all need to stop hyping cats up just because you want a good QB. I don't want to hear nothing about playing with offensive line guys who aren't going to be on an NFL roster. He was playing against defensive scrubs as well. The truth is, Corral right now sucks, and it will probably take years before he looks like a decent QB, if ever. Thankfully, we don't have to fool around with such time tables. If Mayfield has a good year, he will be our QB going forward. If he sucks and the team sucks, we draft a real QB next year. That was always the plan in my mind.

Yeah I have zero expectations for CJ Henderson. This guy has the talent to be a probowl corner, yet you can't even start over Donte Jackson? Somebody else said it, Keith Taylor is the guy we should be watching for in development. Nobody knows why CJ Henderson plays football, but it's clear he doesn't embrace it. That's not a judgement on his quiet demeanor. There are plenty of attention shy guys in the league who have done well and continue to do well. It's just clear from past interviews football is not his passion.

What 2nd year Player are you most excited about?
Matthias replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
All of them have potential. Even the long snapper haha. I feel like Horn will blow up and become one of the best corners in the league this year. I'm worried for Marshall. It's almost like he got put in a dog house by this staff. So who knows if he will get a true chance to show his stuff. He has to bet on himself and develop himself at this point. All that said, I'm most excited to see if Keith Taylor can shoot up the roster and challenge for starting position opposite Horn. Quite frankly, I tire of seeing Donte Jackson. In my opinion, he has reached his peak, and it is underwhelming. -
My Thoughts on the 2022 Draft (Matthias Rant)
Matthias replied to Matthias's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well again, body size is not my only issue with Corral. I like Wilson's game coming out of BYU. I liked his throwing motion and overall frame. I would have drafted Wilson on that. As for Corral, again I'm meh on his game. I don't think that will translate well. -

Matthias replied to Matthias's topic in Carolina Panthers
We'll see this year. I project he's going to shoot toward the top. I believe he has good form, one that translates well in the pros. He has size, which is a positive. Not too many Drew Brees and Russell Wilson sized dudes become elite in the NFL. And even though Corral is around 6'2, the guy is scrawny. As crazy as this sounds, I don't think this is something that can easily by fixed. Can his frame handle a weight increase? -
My Thoughts on the 2022 Draft (Matthias Rant)
Matthias replied to Matthias's topic in Carolina Panthers
Last year we traded for Darnold. He was essentially our QB pick of last year. Of course if we had the top pick or 2nd pick last year, I would have drafted Lawrence or Wilson. Wasn't too high on Fields myself at the time. If I compare those guys college highlights with Corral's, there are things in Lawrence's game and Wilson's game I like. From their throwing stance and form, I say, "Yeah, they look good". I just don't see that at all from Corral's game. I just see a regular college QB with him, another guy. My take is certainly not a professional criticism, it's not polished. However, I don't think it's biased either. I honestly don't see much of anything in his game. -

Matthias replied to Matthias's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, this is more coming from my view of his game. Ultimately, I fear this pick will prevent us from seeking a top QB in next year's draft, which is QB rich. Depending on where we pick in that draft, our front office may try to stick and develop Corral. I just don't want to get stuck with him. If he is just a guy to have on the roster, like PJ Walker, I'm cool with it. -

I see many of us are hyping him up. His talent, from what I've seen in his highlights, is not better than what we saw from guys like Will Grier. -
My Thoughts on the 2022 Draft (Matthias Rant)
Matthias replied to Matthias's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we do have a bad year, the third will be like a late 2nd. Every year guys fall to that spot. I hate giving that up. Of course I'm never confident we get lucky with compensatory picks.
