"Multiple Teams have reached out to the Jets about Darnold"
Hoenheim replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Trading a first for him at this point would be incredibly stupid. Trading anything else though and kicking the tires wouldn't be terrible I guess. It's hard to say how much of his woes were due to the Jets organization being inept and how much was him just being a bad QB. I personally don't want any projects like Wentz , Darnold , or Trubisky. I'd rather draft someone or get someone you know is good like Watson. Just docking around with medicore to bad free agents may have us in a perpetual 4-12 to 8-8 seasons until we get a good QB -
Trevor Lawrence to have surgery on non-throwing shoulder

There was really no reason to win those 5 games we won this season. I wouldve loved to get Lawerence -
Guess it's a wrap then

They could all be gone by 8 if detroit drafts a qb which is highly likely . That's Jacksonville, Jets, Falcons, Lions that could pick qbs before us. With Pat's, Vikings, 49ers all wanting to trade up in front of us to get one . If you sit at 8 be prepared to not get any qb and probably go BPA or trade down a few picks

NO TO WATSON, NO TO STAFFORD.... YOU WIN THROUGH THE DRAFT
Hoenheim replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tampa hasn't had a terrible team overall they've just been in dire need of a good qb for a very long time . Watson would have a similar effect Brady had in Tampa if he were to come to Carolina imo. I don't see us getting to a super bowl immediately though since we're still missing some key pieces on oline and at LB /secondary. But a good draft /FA can patch most of that up . -
NO TO WATSON, NO TO STAFFORD.... YOU WIN THROUGH THE DRAFT
Hoenheim replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Were going to have to take some sort of risk either trading up or a big FA trade if you want to win in the near future. Yea you can play the long game and just go bpa in the draft and wait till the right QB drops to you or get him another year . This might eventually work but it'll likely take much longer. Keep in mind the Panthers have had 3 losing seasons in a row and Tepper probably desperately wants to avoid being mired in a 4th consecutive losing effort . Would be really bad for fan interest , sales, and probably start to create a browns-esque losing culture. What is the right path? Both could actually work . But like I said the long path is going to alienate a large portion of your fanbase until you finally get a franchise QB I think the signs are pointing to us making either a blockbuster FA trade to get Watson or Stafford , or a big deal to trade up for Wilson or Fields . I'd be surprised if they play the long game considering how things have been going since 2018. Tepper got his staff in place now all he needs is his franchise QB. Well probably get one shortly -
The worst thing we could do AFTER already overpaying Teddy is overspending on ANOTHER FA QB . If Tepper allows his new GM to trade the farm for a 33 year old QB whose been injury prone in his later seasons then the Panthers deserve the QB hell they put themselves in for the next several years The only way Stafford would be worth it is if we got him in a reasonable trade that didn't involve several high picks and definitely not even a single R1 pick.

Traded down twice in round one ended up with several second rounders along with a mid round first

With All the Offseason QB Drama, Impossible to Mock QBs Currently
Hoenheim replied to 45catfan's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
If we don't trade up for a QB, we'll likely trade down or go bpa and try our luck with a QB in the 2nd or 3rd. -

That was a great TD run by Fournette. Quietly he's been a part of two different teams that made deep playoff pushes in his first 4 years of nfl football while CMC played in one playoff wild card in his rookie year and got bounced immediately. -

It's fuging depressing watching competent teams with good qbs do huge chunk plays at will when the Panthers Teddy can't even comprehend how to do it even once in an entire season -
All the teams playing today have elite QBs. We won't be doing squat in the playoffs until we get one of our own . If they don't get a good qb at most well make a wild card and get embarrassed
-
He's more than likely going to the Jets at pick #2 or to whoever trades with them for that pick (it'll be stupid expensive). With the recent Lions news , it's looking like there's a high probability all 4 of the top QBs will be gone by the time #8 is on the board . So if the Panthers want to draft one of the premier QBs we'll have to pay a premium in draft capital to do so. The most realistic thing might be a trade down to mid 1st round and pick up an extra 2nd. Probably kick the tires on Trask/Jones/Newman and use the rest of the picks for oline and defense. Probably won't pick up another qb in free agency due to Teddy's abysmal contract. So we'll probably do the above until Rhule finally gets sick of Teddy and let's whatever rookie we draft start . All you draft nuts should be doing alot of research into day two QBs.

So every time anyone says anything about Watson it needs it's own thread lmao

F.U.C.K. that !

If he plays as long as Brady he could play for another decade. He's not that old at all . I wouldn't be mad if we got em on the cheap . Massive upgrade over Bumwater anyway

This dude's career stats are pretty good besides the overall W/L and playoffs obviously Would be interesting getting another #1 overall pick (Cam 2011 Stafford 2009 )
