I have a very very hard time believing Chase would make it past Cincy Miami and Detroit unless there's a feeding frenzy on QBs and OTs before 8 . Or some teams ahead of us make some very unexpected defensive player picks .

Colin Cowherd: Matt Kalil and Sam Darnold
Hoenheim replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is exactly where I'm at right now. Let's either be really bad and have high draft picks or really good playoff contender. I'm absolutely sick of the 5 and 6 win seasons. If you think about it if Kyle Allen doesn't go on a magic run early last season we might've got Burrow or Herbert . If we didn't stupidly sign teddy bridgewater and just simply started Grier we could've had Lawrence Wilson or Fields easily. Those meaningless few wins on losing seasons don't do anything to help you -
I'm really wondering if this abundance of 2nd round Oline talent will have the staff thinking they'll go WR TE or CB R1.
-
Not sure I'm seeing too many people heavily supporting him now? I'll be honest I was extremely against signing Teddy from the moment I heard it and my opinion of him actually got worse as the season went on. Even winning some games I remembered the streak kyle allen went on and teddy couldn't even match that. Not to mention how our last few seasons have gone in general with the team falling to pieces down the stretch. With Darnold I'm not AS distraught as I was with Teddy. My faith meter is still fairly low but I'm at least hoping for something better then what we've been getting qb wise for the last 3 years . Theres going to be a riot if Darnold ends up just as bad as he was or close to it with the Jets. At that point I'll personally lose faith in the staffs ability to evaluate QBs and we will officially be in a Washington esque QB hell. Especially if a qb dropped to 8 that ends up being great and we passed /traded down bc we got Darnold. Whew boy. I think after teddy people have a right to be critical until sam proves us otherwise. 4 losing seasons in a row would be completely unacceptable no matter how you look at it.

Source: Panthers Open to Drafting Quarterback With No. 8 Pick
Hoenheim replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Fields or Lance drops to 8 we either trade down for a haul or pick one of them and go LT in R2. If all the QBs go before 8 we would still have a plethora of options (including trade downs). -
1. Penei Sewell 2. Rashawn Slater I really don't want a CB in R1. Get a LT or elite position player to help Darnold out.
-
Probably very realistic if we made no trades. I think SOMEONE ahead of us will get Sewell and we get the next best OT. Im thinking Slater has some flexibility in whether he plays guard or tackle , so drafting another OT in R2 is actually not crazy at all (we did go Dline first two picks last year ). Also the team would have the option of not paying Moton a shitton of money and have their two OTs cheap for 4 years min. If Eichenburg or Randunz is sitting around at our R2 pick I'd think hard about getting one of them instead of feeling like you absolutely need to draft the best cornerback available. Bouye should at least be serviceable but we could be screwed if him and Donte deal with injuries .

Stay at 8 and more of bpa

Massive deal on a trade down with the Jags netting low 1st and multiple 2nds There's an insane amount of oline talent in the top half of round 2.
-
If he makes it past the Bengals it's a very real possiblity. All the signs are pointing to mostly QBs and WRs being taken ahead of us. Wouldn't rule out us taking the best defensive player in the draft as well . Don't know exactly who the Panthers believe that is . IMO it's Pat Surtain but CB may not be a glaring anymore need with the Bouye signing. Id simply love a draft that's heavy oline focused . Last draft was Dline focused early doing the same for the oline this year would wonders imo.

There should've been a stickied thread for Watson stuff a while ago . No need to post every time something new in the legal stuff comes up unless it's news that everything got resolved and what happens next . Now that we got Darnold this stuff needs to go in another forum until some sort of resolution happens. Either a general nfl news forum or tinderbox or both but not here!

What is your first three round mock and why
Hoenheim replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't trade down unless you get multiple picks. Come on!!! -
Bold prediction- Panthers will target/draft Kwity Paye.
Hoenheim replied to Basbear's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
We literally spent the entire draft on defense last year. Getting DL again this year in R1 would be asinine -
Report: CB AJ Bouye close to deal with Panthers
Hoenheim replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hmmm we sure have signed a shitton of free agents. Just have to wonder if they all mesh together to form a good team -
It's almost as bad as Bengals fans that want Jamar Chase instead of Sewell even after Burrow tore his god damn ACL. Oline is insanely important. And any you as panther fans should know what it does to a team when you don't take oline seriously. End up reshuffling and garbage bin diving every off-season for the rest of eternity while you franchise qb gets his body torn to oblivion.
-
Sewell and Slater more than deserving of pick 8. If both those are gone and you stay at 8 you simply go BPA. Which may net you Surtain or Parsons by the looks of it. Then you get Radunz or Eichenburg in R2 Ideally if Sewell and Slater not there I'd field some trade offers for 8 ( someone really wants a WR or Parsons or Surtain). Pick up an extra second and keep a mid round or high mid round 1st. Stack the living hell out the oline . (Ex vera tucker R1, Radunz R2) use rest of draft shoring up secondary and Dline depth
-
I feel like 99% of the fan base fell in love with Pitts and they're so blinded theyd take him over Sewell. That's just pure insanity .

People sleeping hard on this one

Also QB isn't the only way to evaluate Rhule. Imo he did extremely well to consistently put Carolina in position to win or tie in all games besides two last season despite Teddy's play is probably a good sign . Darnold don't have to light the world on fire. If he has a ryan Tannehill esque glow up and CMC stays healthy and defense gets patched up a bit in the draft , that's got playoffs written all over it.
-
I was a vocal critic of the Teddy Bridgewater deal the moment it happened and I was proven correct over time . With this Darnold move I feel alot more optimistic. I think he either does great things or does so bad he gets us a top 2 pick in the 2021 draft . Id be fine with either . What Im not okay with Is simply staying in hell with Teddy and being stuck in the middle of the draft every year once the team around him improved but he continues to be the bum he is.

Dan Patrick: Panthers interested in trading for Sam Darnold
Hoenheim replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dont believe they'd do a straight up swap for Bridgwater. They had him before and saw him this year I doubt he has that much value.
