  1. This isn't a foolproof list but thought it was interesting. Some conclusions near the bottom. Some players I was kinda torn on how to rate (ex debatable whether some are considered average or busts) 2000 (No QBs) 2001 M. Vick (Great) 2002 David Carr, Joey Harrington (busts) 2003 Carson Palmer (avg) , Byron Leftwich (Bust) 2004 Eli Manning (good) , Philip Rivers (good) , Ben Roethlisberger (good) 2005 Alex Smith (avg) 2006 Vince Young, Matt Lienart, Jay Cutler (all busts) 2007 JaMarcus Russel (bust) 2008 Matt Ryan (good) 2009 Mat Stafford (good), Mark Sanchez (bust) 2010 Sam Bradford (Bust?) 2011 Cam Newton (Good), Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder (all busts) 2012 Andrew Luck (good) , RG III (bust), Ryan Tannehill (average) 2013 No QBs 2014 Blake Bortles (Bust) 2015 Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota (busts) 2016 Jared Goff (Good), Carson Wentz (Bust) 2017 Mitch Trubisky (Bust), Pat Mahomes (great), D Watson (great) 2018 Baker Mayfield (bust), Sam Darnold (bust), Josh Allen (great), Josh Rosen (bust) 2019 Kyler Murray (good), D. Jones (avg) 2020 Joe Burrow (great), Tua (good), Herbert (great) 2021 T. Lawrence (great), Z. Wilson (bust), T. Lance (bust), J. Fields (good) 2022 (No QBs) 23 busts 5 average QBs 11 good QBs 7 great QBs Looking in totality the odds of last 20 years of getting at least a good QB at #1 aren't too bad. Generally getting the 2nd highest QB in the draft is bad luck... Maybe this will give you guys some comfort, #1 QB since 2000 has about 12/19 or 63% chance of being average good or great.
  2. Tepper needs to let the coaches and staff decide and stay out of decision making. Seriously.
  3. Avg of 8.3 mil a year, which would make him around 35th highest paid WR somewhere around Juju and Zay Jones type money Most elite WRs making upwards of 20 mil a year. (Not saying Theilen is elite this is just for context). Definitely not ideal and I'm guessing that's why he didn't immediately sign he wanted more $. But in the grand scheme of things it's not bad .
  4. Probably the best comparison for panthers fans anyway. Reliable clutch catcher , good route runner, he's not going to roast anyone for 70 yard tds tho
  5. If he stays healthy he's the most reliable pass catching option on the team by a mile and that's beyond meaningful
  6. What is with these signings the happen late in the day on a weekend? Jesus Theilens will immediately be the most reliable pass catching option on the team. Suprised he got 3 year deal being 33 going into next season Going to be that consistent chain mover and maybe more importantly he can actually teach up TMJ
  7. Is this really news? They're the 2 dudes we met with last week
  8. Without a consistently good QB what does a decent to good WR mean in the grand scheme of things? Saw a lot of other NFL fans and talking heads saying we lost the trade badly mostly bemoaning the loss of DJ Steve Smith did a pretty good en depth analysis of DJs stats over the years and basically he isn't anywhere near as dominant as people make him out to be . Near the beginning of the video when he's talking about DJ with the panthers. You'd be suprised how middling/average ish he ranks in a lot of categories. Nobody arguing that DJ isnt GOOD but my problem is all these people making it seem like we gave up a 25 year old Jerry rice. Start around 14 min mark. https://youtu.be/iWWEyZRP_qc
  9. I doubt cooks is super expensive either I'm hoping to see some action from fiterrer this week. Hopkins Juedy Odell Chark Hardman Theilen are the headliners probably. I'd be over the moon if we got any one of these dudes
  10. I'd throw a 3 and a 5 and a player for Hopkins or I'd throw a 2 and a low pick for Judy gladly. Judy is way better than any WR we could get in the draft in R2 and we don't even have a first next year to get one either. Somethings gotta happen this week!! Benjamin Allbright @AllbrightNFL · Follow Source confirms multiple teams have called inquiring about WR Jerry Jeudy. Price tag remains high. Team asking for 1st or high 2nd + player.
  11. Cooks just traded to the Cowgirls for a 5 and a 6. I didn't even know teams made moves on fhe weekend. Fitty man get on this poo!!!
  12. That's almost all of the remaining cap lol. That Shaq rework is going to be critical apparently
  13. Stroud is the obvious safe investment here. At worse imo he's going to be solid QB that you can build around. Young is the risky pick that you could either hit jackpot with or lose all your money. He might end up being a lot better than Stroud but you're going to be risking everything hoping that tiny man isn't going to have a career cut short by injuries. He's 190 ish lb man going to be getting crushed by 250 to 300+ lbs men multiple times a week, I don't like that. The o line won't perfectly protect him on every snap and he won't avoid all hits. I'd be really suprised if the Panthers pick Young looking at how much Reich and McCown seem to like more prototypical QBs.
  14. I feel like Shaq gets extended to ridiculous numbers so often lol. His last year in Carolina will have a 50 mil cap hit at the rate they're going They should've just ate the cap hit and let him walk after next year and stop compounding the problem
  15. Man include that too then.. still have to pay them as well
  16. Yep I made that disclaimer, I'm just thinking about the possibilities anyway
  17. Part of me just wishes we would just eat Shaq Contract and use the remaining money for a decent WR. Because I'd be looking to preserve as much cap for next season as possible. Looks like there's a poo ton of space for 2024 currently. Looks like 117 mil in space and that's without even touching some big inflated numbers like Donte and Motons contracts. I guess signing rookies and other players and extending Shaq will make that number go down a bit but still thats a lot of space.
  18. What do you think are some reasltic numbers we could throw at a WR given what we have left here? The only thing that's throwing me off is this isn't including Shaq Thompson rework idk why. But just looking at things right now we have 17 mil in cap. How much of that goes to draft picks? if it's 10 mil or so we only have 7 mil left without that Shaq rework deal. Shaq making a whopping 24.5 mil against the cap on the last year of this deal this year, I can see anyway for 2023. No idea what to expect of how much what I assume is an extension would clear up this season but it looks like a huge factor here. Maybe we'll have between 10 and 20 mil to work with. Is that enough to give a decent sized contract to a big name or a solid contract otherwise for WR? If so to who?
  19. Yep our cap is probably stretched thin right now especially given all the recent signings, needing to save some for drafted players and I'd assume they're still trying to make a move for a WR
  20. Would be nice if we could use Shenault as more than a gadget player, can he not play traditional WR??
  21. We definitely need to get at least 1 WR outside of the draft, I'd prefer 2. Right now I'd rank them: 1) DJ Chark 2) Mecole Hardman 3) Adam Theilen 4) Sammy Watkins 5) Julio Jones I think Charm and Hardman are damn solid options . 3 to 5 are crapshoots but on cheap deals? Why not More unrealistic trades for WR 1) Jerry Judy 2) DeAndre Hopkins Both fantastic options but I'm not sure the coaching staff wants to give away more high draft picks and pay hefty contracts to dudes they're not sure will stay healthy. Overall I think we didn't sign a WR week 1 because the ones Carolina looked at like Chark and Theilen were probably asking for too much. We might see some more action this week if you see some of these other WRs getting moved for reasonable deals.
  22. Seeing his former college WR teammates Chase and Jefferson ball out in the NFL, and seeing how he did without Rhule gave me some hope. Give him a good QB and good coaching imo he's going to at least be a solid #2 Expecting him to be #1 might be bit much at this point but it's possible. I just need more evidence on the field. QB and coaching could've been chaining him down badly maybe he's due for a breakout season.
  23. I find it amazing Bryce has that much support not ability wise but based on his size. Someone's really going to have to convince me. I'm not feeling Bryce at all!
  24. I think we need a good thread analyzing how often QBs work out in the first 10 picks of the draft.
