Now hear me out. If Brock Purdy, the very last player drafted in the 2022 NFL draft, can lead his team to a Super Bowl appearance, then it stands to reason that Bryce, who was drafted at No. 1 overall, will lead us to multiple Super Bowl wins and become one of the greatest quarterbacks in history. It's obvious that Bryce is much more talented than Purdy, otherwise we wouldn't have drafted him at no. 1, would we? Bryce has been officially certified by the S2 Cognition Test™ as a super processor, he has an elastic arm, he excels at making off-platform throws, and his calm and poise are off the charts. Bryce has been thoroughly vetted by our analytics team. We just need to trust the system Mr. Tepper has put into place. Expect us to at least make a Super Bowl appearance next year, if not winning it outright. Bryce Up Son!
-
But just look at what we got in return though: a well-mannered, soft-spoken, sensitive, super-processing boy wonder point guard. From the point of view of analytics, we're already a contender on paper, not to mention we have a vibrant music scene in Charlotte. Just look at Bryce, he literally looks like a goat already.
-
He deserves the recognition. Glad he has the opportunity with an organization that maximizes his potential.
-
The coaching and the receivers might have sucked, or they might have been OK or maybe even excellent. We'd never know for sure because Tepper refused the coaches' request to bench Bryce. My view is that our suckage was mostly due to Bryce and his limitations. Stroud would have definitely taken us to the playoffs.
-
No, Stroud just flat out trolled us by defending his friend. I highly doubt his opinions are based on watching Bryce's tape. I have to disagree with you that no one on this board thinks Bryce is better. Plenty still insist that Stroud would have done no better than Bryce if he had been a Panther. They think that Bryce's suckage is purely down to situationals.
-
There are still plenty of diehard Bama fans on this board who are in denial. They couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that Bryce is busting hard. They keep bringing up his Heisman and his college tape to prove that Bryce is deserving of that no. 1 draft spot, and that it's everybody else's fault (the line, the receivers, the coaches, the scheme, the play calling, yada, yada, yada) that Bryce has performed so badly and that he couldn't do a simple drop back or make an accurate throw on time past 15 yards. Heck, they probably insist that Bryce is really 6'0" tall because Bama machine don't lie. Bryce fans are just like The Golden Calf of Bristol fans. They're the same poo, but just curls differently.

There are still plenty on this board who think Bryce was the better pick. Plenty. Stroud walked into a worse situation because the Texans had been a laughingstock and bottom dweller for years, which is why they had the no. 2 pick in the last draft (would have been the no. 1 pick had it not been for Lovie Smith dialing up that late TD). The Texans simply didn't have a winning culture, their receivers were ranked dead last by PFF, and they have a rookie coach and a rookie offensive coordinator. That is about as bad of a situation as you can ask for. We on the other hand had a veteran head coach who is known for developing quarterbacks, a much more experienced supporting staff, and more highly rated receivers per PFF. I can't think of a single source, pundit, or fan who thought Stroud was walking into a better situation in Houston. Bryce was universally considered to have landed at a better spot than Stroud. Whereas Stroud overcame and became an agent of change and elevated his team to make the playoffs, Bryce couldn't capitalize on his better situation and the superior pieces he had been surrounded with.
-
Stroud straight up played Sherlock Holmes on that first play... But we got ourselves a S2 champ, yo! The kid walked into a far worse situation than Bryce and elevated a motley crew of no-name receivers who had been collectively ranked dead last by PFF before the season. The offensive Rookie of the Year award is well deserved. What could have been and what we have now...

That's right. Rub our noses in it. We deserve it.

I came across an interesting comment on Youtube. I have no idea if it's true, but I wonder if anybody here was at the event or knows somebody who was there. If so, please help confirm or debunk. I want to know because if the account is true, then the chance of Tepper being forced to sell the team is not zero.

Bryce at 11? What round? The 11th in the third round or lower? If so, that sounds about right. I personally would draft him at 11 in the fifth or lower and make him a project.
-
Yeah, and his name is CJ Stroud.

Saban was listed at 5'6" during his playing days, which was more than 50 years ago. Men start losing height beginning in their 40s at a rate of 1/2 inch per decade on average, so Saban today should be around 5'4" and a 1/2, maybe 5'5" tops. From eyeballing various photos of Bryce standing next to Saban, Bryce is probably around 5'9", plus or minus 1/2 inch. He's unlikely to be 5'10" and most definitely not 6'0" as measured by Alabama. This just reminds me... Remember all the praises heaped on Bryce before the draft? People were crooning about his elastic arm, his ability to make off-platform throws, his super processing, his calm and poise, his elite S2 score, yada, yada, yada? Except for that snake oil S2 score, it was all fugging bullshit! Bryce is the most deceptive hype job to date, all thanks to the 'Bama Machine and its cronies at ESPN, and the Teppers bought it hook, line, and sinker. If you want to predict his ceiling, first you must consciously ignore the pre-draft lies told about Bryce and make assessments solely based on his NFL tape. Ask yourself this: what do I see on his NFL tape that tells me he's gonna turn out OK or be deserving of the capital we gave up to draft him at no. 1? When viewed this way, the outlook for Bryce becomes much, much bleaker. b
-
That's gonna be tough because Bryce doesn't have the ball placement skills to enable YAC. One step at a time. Bryce needs to first focus on throwing on time, then he needs to focus on throwing catchable balls. Everything else is a luxury at this point.
-
So we went from comparing Bryce to Manning to now comparing him to Joe Burrow. LOL! What's next? Will Elway get some love?
-
Yeah, and Bryce is listed at 6'0" at Alabama. We now have plenty of NFL tape that shows him being chased down by defensive linemen, so there goes his elite 40 time. He had been so overhyped and oversold that I wonder if anything said about him before the draft was true. I'm even beginning to doubt he has good table manners.

Yep! How our FO missed this giant fluttering red flag is completely beyond me. 20-yard throws Comp. Att. % Yards Y/A Y/C Drop 2021: Young 10 33 36.1% 416 12.6 41.6 9% 2020: Jones 29 50 58% 1,279 25.6 44.1 8% 2019: Tua 17 35 48.6% 659 18.8 38.8 3% 2018: Tua 24 42 57.1% 944 22.5 39.3 2% Source: SECStatCat Bryce's lack of deep ball accuracy is a fatal trait, and folks wonder why our play calling and scheme suck. Here's your explanation: Bryce simply can't make the necessary throws to push the ball down the field. He's a dinker and dunker and a checkdown specialist because he's incapable of being more. Ironic, since Bryce fans are calling for scheme and plays to be tailored to Bryce's so-called strengths, but what they don't realize is that the scheme and plays had in fact been tailored to suit Bryce. Bryce is the reason why our play calling and scheme suck, he is the limiting factor, and he should have been benched after the Seattle game as the coaches had requested, because he simply isn't ready for the NFL.
