sandwiched between saints fans and cowboys fans at a bar. we better drop 40 in the first half. -
no, not yet - that's a work in progress. i naively assumed i could begin the publication process in conjunction with grad school, and that went to hell pretty much instantly. i've resigned to not completing the process until next year when i'm free of academic obligation. i am a few months away from launching an independent project to test a few self-publishing platforms in case i'm forced to resort to that; the agent/publishing house route is incredibly, incredibly difficult unless you have name recognition or prior experience getting paid to write.

i just registered for an account over there. i don't wanna use my troll account because i'd actually like to get a few of their opinions on the schematics i've laid out. they seem to have a pretty high opinion of the MLB and OLB i highlighted, so i'm interested to see if they've tracked things i haven't noticed or if they're just a bunch of dumb taints fans that think everyone on that team is a minor deity.

i'm in grad school, work 50-80 hours a week, manage rental properties, and raise a 2-year-old. writing about the panthers is an enjoyable way for me to relieve enormous amounts of pressure, but establishing deadlines for myself by writing a weekly column has actually intensified things a little bit. i'm taking this thing seriously though, which is why i stayed up until 4am last night to finish the article, at the expense of a full night of sleep. i admit i sure as hell miss the days when i was 11 and could read, re-read, and re-re-read books like thunder below.

some of the most gut-wrenching accounts i've read were of submariners. sam dealey rivaled fluckey's badassery and the fate of the uss harder was a cathartic experience for me almost, more so than it should've been. iirc the harder was actually one of the initial victims of the plague of torpedo malfunctions that swept through the USN. it took a full two years for people to figure out mark xiv firing pins were deforming before they could hit detonator caps on 90-degree-angle contacts, negating countless perfect strikes over that period. fluckey dealt with it too in the barb's earlier patrols, but not to the extent dealey did. dealy actually got accused of being a subpar mariner and imagining convoys in the dark... lol
