  1. gonzales is literally the only good player on special teams right now
  2. no, the coaches haven't been given a complete team yet
  3. if we drop the giants and falcons game it's over over
  4. sam played good enough enough to win today and then some
  5. yes, not having one of the best players in the league on our team is hurting us
  6. i mean probably. october was not the month for losses like this
  7. yeah, 4-2 sounds a whole hell of a lot better than 3-3
  8. yeah that's fair. it's just difficult to imagine being a dirt poor low wage construction worker flipping stop signs at the intersection watching the billionaire walk around with his wife like a hunger games scene telling you to be proud of the thing you're making for him to make more billions while you go home and eat beans out of the can because he's not paying you enough to afford more than that. you don't want a stupid autographed football, you want livable wages and health insurance
  9. yup, that's why it hits home a little more. i am still a small fish in a big pond as a producer but it's easy to see how quickly you can get sucked into protecting the bottom line and trying to squeeze out margins at the expense of your workers. i am proud that my current project paid union crew rates despite being a non-union gig and shoots never went over 12 hours and i don't consider the pride of working on my stupid movie more valuable than that pay or those working conditions
  10. wow calm down maybe tepper is paying them tons of money and they're all going to buy ferraris after this. either way it's a cogent point to make that our owner - who's already developing as a reputation for being tight on the pursestrings unless he personally benefits - could do better on the optics with these things
  11. he's always been a project. starting him would've been a very irresponsible desperation move, as much as the huddle wants to seem him go be an all-star and prove them right
  12. also tepper totally gave the emoji shrug when furloughing countless median income earners during a fuging global pandemic when he could've easily absorbed the negligible cost of keeping his people employed, so i kind of doubt tepper went with the building contractors that charged more for a project so they could pay their laborers better
  13. if you're middle aged your grandfather worked construction during a much more favorable time to make a median wage. it's likely the buying power of his salary was far higher than the folks working on tepper's project. maybe tepper is paying them crazy money! maybe he took the lowest bidder and this is the equivalent of giving your workers a pizza party instead of a raise (which is more often the case than not.) either way i am always skeptical when billionaires tout pride as currency to people who are likely living near the poverty line. i work in film, which is currently dealing with greedy, out-of-touch studios fighting to keep sixteen-hour days with no turnaround and lower pay scales for streaming productions that are turning record profits, and it's a worn-out trope that producers have crew who are So iNtO tHe PrOjEcT when in reality it's just the third project they've gripped on that year, they don't get residuals, and just want to get more than four hours of sleep per night. as a producer occupying that strata I'm sensitive about falling into that trap and i see how easy it is to get there, particularly when your crew are nice people who won't necessarily complain to your face.
  14. not gonna lie, coming from an industry that's in the throes of renegotiating how its workers are treated (ending "around the clock" expectations for pathetic pay) it kinda irks me hearing stuff like "you guys are really doing something great here, you should be proud of what you're doing for the community, what you're doing will be remembered for twenty years..." blah blah yawn. people who run enterprises like this are obviously extremely out of touch when they say stuff like this to workers who get nothing material out of the end product. they don't get residuals or shares. it's a job and then they're on to the next one. what matters is that they feel safe, they're paid fairly for their labor, and can provide for their families. they couldn't give less of a fug about legacy. as a currency of the wealthy, legacy only holds value to people who materially benefit from it. this is a reminder to not bloviate this dumb poo to crew working on my projects unless they're well-enough paid, cared for, and comfortable to jump to whichever part of the maslow hierarchy lets you get excited about the cool poo making big bucks for someone else.
  15. part of the reason paradis looks so bad is being surrounded by flaming garbage on either side. if we suddenly had even adequate LG play and a serviceable tackle we could scheme around RG and the line would be 1000% improved.
  16. our DL is good enough not to have a linebacker leading the league in tackles
  17. yup. this is the exact thing we railed on chudz for
  18. he didn't "blame the defense" he called it a team loss based on lack of execution in all phases. this is a bullshit title.
  19. well, this is the test we've been waiting for. down by a score in the fourth, ball in hand with the game on the line. let's see if darnold is the real deal
