They were stuck since Mikko picked Florida or Dallas… Florida wasn’t happening at all. The Canes were backed into a corner and keeping him wasn’t an option with how toxic it had become. also Stankoven is a top 6 level player, he’s just really young and hasn’t played in the NHL much. He also fits Rod’s system really well.

Then Mikko’s agent burnt the bridges here in Carolina by trying to get a 13.5-14m AAV contract and when we pitched him around the NHL he realized he wasn’t getting that at all. So they bit the bullet and signed with Dallas for less than Carolina offered him.

Yep, Dallas is in talks with mikko’s camp on long term extension. Will determine the return. If he agrees to the extension , the current trade framework would be what’s used. It’s a decent return, imo.

Can also confirm he told the team he wasn’t willing to sign with Carolina. It appears he agreed to a sign and trade with Dallas.

Mikko to Dallas is apparently a done deal, details to come out later today. edit: took the tentative out of the title, it’s a done deal and Mikko has in fact been traded again.
