Dang Indiana took Coulibaly
-
Fans and media think it was clear 1, clear 2, clear 3 player in this draft but reality for most teams and nba scouts is that Miller and scoot were considered on the same level. Take that for what it's worth.
-
Never said he didn't but I hate to tell you this but it was unanimous in the building for Miller over Scoot. Scouts to the front office.
-
This tells me what I heard was 100% correct.
-
The new owners had input on the decision just an FYI for everyone.
-
Ding, ding. This is correct. Melo had input on who they draft because he is the most important player the hornets have. They've got to keep him long term.
-
They was never gonna draft scoot because of shooting and defense issues on top of the shot selection and mental decisions with the ball.
-
So they was right all along or the last workout did the trick. :shrugs:
-
Warriors wanted out from Pooles contract, so for them that was a win.
-
Most teams have them similarly rated, same with bunch of NBA scouts. :shrugs:
-
The new owners also have input as well apparently.
-
The workouts were done when he was recovering from mono and was down 13 pounds.
-
There's the stories from the Gerald Wallace days where he laced up and went off on the team trash talking them.
-
If you draft Scoot, how do you fix the defense and outside shooting for the team? One of the worst teams defensively and the worst outside shooting team in the NBA. Today's NBA, you need to be able to switch and shoot the 3. Explain how it works with Lamelo and scoot defensively and how scoot improves the shooting when he won't have the ball.
-
Word is Melo wants to resign. Ya can't have two guards who don't play defense and win. Neither play defense well (scoot or melo) it just isn't going to work. Scoot was likely never to be the pick because of that alone. Drafting scoot means Melo plays the two and scoot plays the 1. That's just not a winnable position defensively. Lastly most teams have them rated the same or scoot slightly higher because of athleticism but put most teams at 2 and unless guard was a major sore spot, they gonna take Miller over him.
-
He has been recovering from having mono and is/was down 13 plus pounds over his normal weight.
-
You do realize that most NBA teams have the two players on the same level talent wise? That's with Miller working out with him down 13 plus pounds from having mono.
-
They need defense and scoring from 3pt, (worst 3pt shooting team in the NBA) one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA. Miller can play the 2 and 3 as a rookie and eventually be able to play the 2 through 4. He can drive, has handles (needs to get stronger to finish at the rim in the NBA) More athletic than you would think with his play style. Scoot fixes none of those issues and actually makes them worse at both. Miller as a rookie will be a 3 and d guy that the team can build around with Lamelo. Possible to come out of the draft with this. Brandon Miller, GG Jackson, Ben Sheppard, James Nnaji and Keyontae Johnson with the later picks. Trade Rozier to another team for draft picks/prospects. Sign and trade PJ. Run a super young team and see who makes the cut. Lamelo, Miller, Bridges, Hayward, Williams. Maledon/Smith, Sheppard, Keyontae Johnson, GG Jackson, Richards That sheds most of the cap once Hayward comes off the books and gives the team a ton of high upside young players to surround Lamelo with plus gives the team enough cap space to go after another player to play with what should be an exciting young team in 2 years. Could end up with a starting lineup that's 6-7 plus and can run and move. Gives you the defense and shooting to surround miles and lamelo with as well.

Joker busted his ass off getting into shape because he wanted a championship the last few seasons.
-
Something tells me that he doesn't live basketball like most great players do. Idk just the way he carries himself or something that gives away the fact he doesn't have that MJ/Kobe style it's mine and I'm gonna get it attitude.
-
In high school, he was a mid range shooter and finisher with poor 3pt shooting... in college he was a shooter from 3pt plus everything else and that surprised college scouts. Was known for court vision and passing in high school as well, so being a facilitator is in his game. That said, his game improved a ton in one college season. I just imagine him in a nba weight room with nba level coaching. He's gonna be good but so is scoot, don't think they can go wrong and Miller is the better fit, so that's why I've said they'll take him. Same level prospect to nba teams, so you go with fit.
-
Might be the case or that it's being talked about but Portland is staying put and drafting him (if charlotte takes Scoot) unless they get an high level all star back from another team.
-
Most teams have them in the same ballpark (all-star level players) with some having scoot a little better prospect because of his athletic abilities. It's not clear cut to NBA teams.
-
I've seen him going in the 2nd round, he should definitely be available at 27.
-
Scoot at 2 and GG at 27. Thoughts?
