  1. Rumors are the priority targets for the team are Jarvis, Guentzel and Chatfield. Then use the remaining 8-9m to fill out the last 7 spots. If they can buy out KK, they will try to get Skjei back.
  2. Oh wow. I figured it match the assistants. Long term commitment to RBA is good, he deserves it despite me not liking some of his lines and such.
  3. Add this here too. Assistant coach deals are 2 years with a 3rd year option. I believe that Rod’s deal is for 3 years
  4. 2 year deals with 3rd year options for the assistants. Think Rod’s deal is for 3 years as well.
  5. They have control but they can’t afford to keep him (arbitration likely over 5-6m) if they sign Jarvy, Chatty and Guentzel to their expected AAV (17-19m) So they’ll probably want draft picks and prospects. If they don’t sign Guentzel, then yea they can afford to tell him to pound sand but otherwise they can’t.
  6. I think some in here are over estimating how far that 27m is going to go. Just Jarvis, Guentzel and Chatfield are going to cost around 17 AAV. Jarvy even with a bridge deal is going to make in the 5m AAV range. Guentzel is going to be in the 9m AAV range. Chatfield will be in the 3-4m AAV range. Skjei wants around 7m AAV, Pesce already turned down a 5m AAV deal last offseason. This team is going to see a lot of changes going into next year. I do mean a lot of them.
  7. I know how it works, most experts aren’t expecting him back either and his Father has already made comments on this and hard rumors are saying he won’t sign because the team won’t do what Necas wants. I fully expect him to be traded. 100%
  8. Right now I don’t expect Pesce, Necas, DeAngelo, Noesen or Teravainen back. I also think KK is bought out and won’t be back. Guentzel is 50/50, if they give him the money 9-11m per. He’s back but don’t know if they give him that kind of money.
  9. He won’t sign any extension unless he’s 1. moved to center 2. plays on the top line 3. gets paid like a top line center. ummmm… he’s not coming back. He doesn’t like Rod because he doesn’t see him as a center in the NHL. so knowing what Necas wants, you still think he comes back and plays somewhere he doesn’t want to???
  10. I never said they were gassed, I said nope that it was rod’s system that failed again.
  11. They only have two options and one I think we all hope gets bought out here soon. KK being the other option on the team. otherwise give jarvy a shot or go for one in FA
  12. Posted that earlier that he didn’t want to come back unless he was on the first line.
  13. Did you see my previous post with the post season stats? playoff stats Win % is .514 pp is 14.9 pk is 76 his special teams never work in the postseason. the only way his system will ever work in the playoffs is if the team caves and spends on a goalie. A top tier goalie.
  14. It’s Rod’s system that fails in the playoffs. mvm works during regular season because its effort and skill related and most teams suck. come playoffs the effort and skill difference aren’t that big. So having lapses where forwards don’t rotate quickly to cover pinching defenders ends up costing the team over and over. pk is aggressive and teams with skill can make you pay over a series where in the regular season it won’t. why does it work in one but not the other? 1. lot of bad to awful teams in the NHL 2. it’s a unique system that isn’t seen much, so teams aren’t used to it nor get a ton of practice against it. Once teams know they are playing you in a series, they’ll practice specifically for your system. Then bada bing, system looks awful
  15. Nope, Rod’s system that works wonders in the regular season failed again in the playoffs. 38-36 in the playoffs and no more than 8 wins in any post season run. Win % is .514 pp is 14.9% pk is 76% 4 teams with more wins, tied with the Bruins for 5th. 10 teams with a better win % in the playoffs over that time period.
  16. I know but both make too much for what they bring at this point in their careers. I have more thoughts on the team as currently constructed. but hey if everyone wants to run back the same coach and mostly the same players for a great regular season followed by more postseason failures, then by all means run it back.
  17. Sure if Burns and Staal come back for 1-2m max. Otherwise, bye.
  18. Necas doesn’t want to be here unless he’s on the top line. He’s gone for sure, 100%. Nikishin still has a year left on his deal unless he buys himself out. Staal and Burns are gone as well, I agree with both retiring. Chatfield will probably cost 3-4 a season over 4 or 5 years. Pesce and Skeji both want top line money. So 8-9m a season. So I think both are probably gone.
  19. A shot at the cup every year??? He hasn’t led the team to more than 8 wins in a postseason since hired. The canes postseason record in that time is 38-36. They aren’t competing for a cup. 8 or less wins each postseason and a basically .500 record in the playoffs is statistically post season failure.
  20. He hasn’t signed the contract he was offered because he wants his assistants to get paid and raises first.
  21. Guentzel likes it here, so that’s something.
  22. Does rod take a one year deal when he refused to sign til all of his assistants get paid and raises??? I don’t think so. Why I think he’s gone now
  23. Making an assumption based on the idea of having a new coach. id expect 5 or 6 changes in top 12 and one pairing on defense being different and a new goalie if rod isn’t back. if he is, probably keep as much as possible from this team as they can.
  24. There’s a reason those contract got pulled rumors popped off. There’s smoke there. He had to make a deep run to stay based on everything coming from the team.
  25. Welp it was fun trying to come back down 3-0. Gonna be lots of changes next season. I think we’ll have a new coach, different system. At least 3 new dlinemen, a new goalie and lot of turnover in the top 12.
