Cardinals have scheduled a meeting with Payton for Thursday.
-
Don't know, reports just says its Tepper, his wife and other key front office personnel

-
I think that's what it might end up being or at least really close to it.
-
CBS just reported there isn't a second interview with Denver and Carolina is making a full push today to hire him.
-
I think it's likely to be the 49ers picks plus 2024 first and conditional 4th that could turn into a 3rd
-
Bill Parcells won two with the giants and went to one with the Patriots.
-
I'll give you that, his staff in NY was an Allstar coaching staff too. He just hated the GM of the giants. However any of those three situations would be a vast improvement from where the Panthers have been since 2018 or so.
-
His second team was the Patriots and he took them to a superbowl but lost, then went to the Jets and turned them around as well.
-
He got to the superbowl on his second team and the afc championship game on his third and the playoffs with his 4th team. And all the teams he took over sucked before he became the coach. That's face palm worthy Mr. Scot. The Patriots to the superbowl in 4 seasons after being dreadful the previous seasons. The jets won 1 game and were in the AFC championship game his 2nd year.
-
Payton comes from the coaching tree of a coach that got to championship games with multiple teams and back to the superbowl after retiring.
-
If that was the case and he just wanted to push his price up, he coulda done a zoom call with the Panthers like he did the Texans. (Who are out of the running according to Bronco insiders) It's down to the Panthers and Broncos for Payton.

People seem to be sleeping on Mike Kafka as a candidate

Hey I'm just repeating what he said. I can't confirm it as I've never played in the NFL. -
That's one of the reasons that I've said it's Payton's job since he was added to the interview list. It's a swing for the fences but it's also a coach known for winning and an offensive minded coach.
-
I mean nfl historical norms. Previous coach had no hc experience then the owner goes after one that has previous experience. That's what I meant.
-
That's why this coach will be a proven NFL head coach, no taking a chance on this one. If Tepper follows the norm for the NFL at least.

Nah he legit said there isn't enough time In a game to change your gamelan at all. You've got 30 plays pre scripted for a game and might call 60 plays total for a game. It's just not a thing. -
Maybe it was the best sales pitch? I mean that's what an NFL HC interview is, isn't it? It's a sales pitch about vision for the team overall and the type of team the coach wants to run.
-
If he has interviewed almost all if not all of the top offensive minds in the NFL and decides payton is the best choice, that's a patient approach since he and the team interviewed so many candidates.

There's an interview with Peyton Manning (I think) it's nfl players or a former coach. Says halftime adjustments and game adjustments don't happen, it's up to the players to out execute the other team. -
I never said that was my opinion, I'm stating a fact on what NFL owners do, they generally will go from one extreme to another. Previous coach had no hc experience, so the next one will. Why I think Payton ends up the coach. He's the best of both for Tepper. He's an offensive minded coach who's also a proven head coach in the NFL.
-
If that was Dorsey failing his interview and his offense produced 325 against a good Bengals team in snow and wind, what does that mean for Kafka and his 227 yards against the Eagles.
-
I never said to hire Wilks. I said that you couldn't hire them over Wilks. Which means they out of the running. Historically an owner will over commit if the past hire was really bad. Rhule was unproven with no HC experience, the next HC for the Panthers will have HC experience Historically speaking. So it's Wilks, Payton or Reich basically.
-
Kafka and Dorsey out of the running with absolutely dreadful gameplans in the playoffs. No way you can hire either of them over Wilks after those games.
-
Go on record now before the hire is made Re: Sean Payton
