Have you seen him block? They lined him up in line on goal line run plays in hat for a hat situations and he blew up defensive ends....

Average hit rate in the 2nd is 35% [that's just a second contract with the same team] 3rd round even lower Feel like we have this same dang conversation every year. I mean shoot the first round is essentially a coin flip depending on position.

Round 3 - The Carolina Panthers Select DJ Johnson - EDGE - Oregon

Trust your scouts and your coordinators on the players they want. This is x10000 times and evero pick and if he wanted him, he saw something that he liked. Fair enough for me. -
Round 3 - The Carolina Panthers Select DJ Johnson - EDGE - Oregon

Shoot he didn't even have a first round grade with the media boards. [55-60] so late 2nd round on media boards. -
Espn had him 5th wr and 37th overall Fox had him 70th overall and 6th wr Draft profile had him as a 2nd round pick Athlon had him as a 2nd/3rd pick Walter as a 2nd/3rd round pick There's another one or two that had him the 30-40 range I'm trying to find. Few outliers like cbs and mock draft database. That's media wise and most were way off this year. A few did really well compared to everyone else but they have or had actual scouts help them with their boards. Scouting wise, maybe 15 players with first round GRADES. Tons with 2/3 grades and this class is varied and more volatile from team to team then most recent drafts.

5th to 6th rated wr with overall draft value of around 36th composite wise looking at boards. Definitely not a reach and taken around approximate value... maybe even a slight value. That's media wise I'd say he was 4th and maybe even 3rd on some teams boards and imo a definite value pick at 39.

He's rated around 35-40 on most sites big boards.

Yea no surprise with the pick either.

Won't link them unless asked. I'm at work right now. Pete Prisco mock draft mentions being below 180 during the season. Pfn has an article about the rumors of his playing weight being under 180. Bleacher report has an article from during the draft process that says he's got a 185-190 frame and weighed 190 during some of the season. Saying he's got a 185-190 frame means that's the expected max weight he can hold healthy. There's a few others and a few videos that additionally talk about his weight. I see him playing at 195 in the NFL, ain't no way he played anywhere close to 200 at Alabama. At the combine weigh in you could clearly tell he added a massive amount of weight. Which is why the rumors persisted even after the combine.

He definitely got below 180 during the season by quite a few accounts and most scouts have his playing weight around 180-185.
-
Except Bryce doesn't play at 204, he plays at 175-185. Some scouts say he played around 185 while others says he started the season at 185 and dipped below 180 for a good portion of the season. If he played at 204, wouldn't be as big of a deal.

Two things he's got going for him, Panthers have an article up that the offense was designed for Young as were the free agent targets. The other is that the offensive line is pretty good when healthy. Will be interesting to see the offense in week one.

Hayden is going to have be his lifeline in the middle of the field. Need another te imo as well and a good slot WR that's reliable in the next few rounds.

DAY 2: Best of the Rest Big Board by Positions of Interest
carpanfan96 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
They could also go for 3-4 end as well. -
I think Richardson wins that job year one. His tape isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Highest throw away % in this class, his pocket movement is exceptional. His ability to read defense and call plays is already there.. His mechanics breakdown because he hasn't had a ton of football reps.

Size is definitely a huge factor for athletic profiles and probability of success. If Young is successful, he will be the lightest qb ever drafted to have success.

REPORT: Anthony Richardson was Panthers QB #2

It might seem like I hate the pick, I actually don't hate the pick at all. Just super concerned about his size buy hopefully he is successful and becomes the exception to the rule -

Bryce led this draft class in generated pressure (pressure the qb is responsible for) Outside of his frame, that's the biggest worry next level. If he gets his weight up and it doesn't impact his Athleticism much or any then size isn't really a concern. -

If he actually was 200ish, It wouldn't be a problem but he isn't 200ish.. Heck he's not even 190ish like Alabama had him, he played between 170-180 and was 185 at the most. I know he's got all the tools as a qb, but his frame (not his height) is a major freaking issue. Murray, Wilson, Brees were all legit 210-220lb framed qb's. Young has a frame where maybe he can get to what Alabama had him listed at in a healthy way -
Already said they were going to do that. Lol Drafting a point guard qb allows them to spend less on offense and spend more on defense. Came right out of the owners mouth.

Dave Tepper has become a major asset for the Panthers
carpanfan96 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
His height actually isn't my concern with him. His playing weight of 175-180 is my concern, that's too light in the NFL. If he can safely get to 205 ish or at least 200 safely as a playing weight that pick makes more sense.
