Everyone is saying that the Panthers will be one of the most active and aggressive teams in free agency. so i expect a few big signings very early
-
Just to add this. what I heard was correct, they did talk to Mikko and his agent prior to the Colorado trade and got feedback that he would accept a contract from Carolina. Friedman confirmed it on his podcast.
-
Yep also makes what I’ve heard from friends around the team make a ton of sense. It was totally off ice and it was recent decision not to sign, they just got in town recently with the GF and bam, decided not to sign with Carolina. They talked to him and his camp pre Colorado deal and they said he would sign and gave Carolina the price. Carolina met the price and pretty much immediately offered it to him. So yeah, totally the GF not liking the area. Oh well, how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

It was the girlfriend.
-
Knowing the teams that got approved… that makes sense. A lot of sense.
-
Word is it wasn’t on the ice mostly, it was the area once he got to be around for a week or so that he informed the team that not only would he not sign before the deadline but that he wasn’t interested in signing with Carolina at all.

I couldn’t deal with the it being 88-92 between 10pm-4am weather in the summer with highs in the 100’s with indexes over 120 regularly and the high 70-80’s during the winter months regularly feels weird. lol story time. I moved in late 2016 as a non diabetic and 6 months later had an A1C of 13.8 because the heat was making me dehydrated and I couldn’t drink enough water to keep up with how my body reacted to it.

Necas and Drury were never staying and everyone thought this season was going to be an off year because of all the changes and player losses in free agency. they took a shot with two players that didn’t want to be here for a superstar level player who ended up not liking the area. So all in all they traded Necas and Drury and a 2nd and fourth for Hall, Stankoven, 26&28 first round picks and 26&27 third round picks. The two firsts are top ten protected in 26&28 but unprotected in 27&29 if Dallas happens to be bad enough to pick in the top ten those two years. however they did turn down a deal with the leafs. It was Minten, Cowan and two firsts.

Mikko knew he was being moved after the game and that it was to Dallas. The trade details were finalized last night around 3am. The rest of the time was sleeping and Mikko’s agent doing whatever he’s been doing the last year for Mikko’s deal. lol

It is. I said as much when I mentioned it. Nikishin wants to come over asap. Agent has told the team, likely will be able to be bought out once his teams season ends.
-
Mark Janowski is on the team as well.
-
Tulsky confirmed they tried to flip the picks but Rantanen taking so long to agree to a deal with Dallas killed any chance of them happening. he also confirmed that Nikishin is coming over asap and that’s what he wants to do.
-
He’s top 6 winger with potential to be a high level top winger for the team. Add the four draft picks and the fact Mikko was sinking the team and it’s not a bad haul.
-
Spent almost 6 years in the DFW area… I’m good on ever going back. Lol
-
We did talk to his camp prior to him being moved and offered what he asked for. His agent then played hardball because Mikko didn’t like it here off the ice.
-
Wasn’t talking about Marner. 40m is a lot of space to fill out a team that’s already got its core signed long term.
-
Prepare to be mad then. There’s a reason they didn’t go after depth on the dline.
-
Falling apart isn’t going to do anything either. This was always going to be an off year waiting on next years extra cap space plus all the young players that should be ready. now they go into the offseason with 4 extra picks plus an extra young player with 40m in cap space.
-
They were stuck since Mikko picked Florida or Dallas… Florida wasn’t happening at all. The Canes were backed into a corner and keeping him wasn’t an option with how toxic it had become. also Stankoven is a top 6 level player, he’s just really young and hasn’t played in the NHL much. He also fits Rod’s system really well.
-
Marchand to Florida. Wow
-
Also puts new light on the Aho letter.
-
Also for Pettersson to work even at 50% retention, the Canes would need to send salary back to Vancouver. About 1.7m in salary roughly.
-
Most definitely.
-
Canes have 4.3m in space to make another move.

That’s not exactly what he told Carolina pre trade, he changed his tune after he played here though.
