  1. Yep. For a few reasons too. If they are all in on Darnold, it makes no sense to draft another young QB that highly and have Darnold looking over his shoulder at a guy that is also expecting to have the same job. If Darnold doesn't pan out, odds are the Panthers are picking high again next year and can go for a QB then. They might be able to fleece a team that is desperate for a QB. Take one of the high LT prospects and keep building the team for the next guy if Darnold doesn't pan out.
  2. Take Sewell. If he pans out, you have an elite LT which this team hasn't had in years. Other teams will also be looking to pick up those young and cheap LT options in the later rounds, so that means the Panthers might not be able to get one due to a run on them. Don't pass up the chance when you finally have it.
  3. Trying to change the subject to Clausen: 1+1=2 not 4. And two is a couple.
  4. Now you want to play word games? You said a couple which means two. Triple is three and quadruple is four if you need a refresher.
  5. This would have been so much better if you had photoshopped Teddy's head onto each bean.
  6. It's not just outliers though. There have been a lot of players in the NFL and other sports that have played at high levels for a long time after having bad injuries. There have also been some that never recovered and played again. But, you give him a chance and see what happens. At worst the Panthers are looking for a QB again next year. But that could be true with a rookie or other vet as well.
  7. Thomas Davis and Steph Curry say hi. Don't hold injuries against someone unless it is to the same body part each time.
  8. Bolded for you. A couple generally means two. As for easier than ever? That depends on the individual and which team drafts them. Things have changed in how teams treat rookies in the last decade or so. The feeling used to be that all QBs needed time to sit and learn. Now, teams have no problems throwing them out there day 1. It is very possible that some of them could have always played from day 1 if teams didn't make them sit.
  9. I always thought The Last Boy Scout was a good popcorn movie for the time it was made. And yeah, it did have some good one liners.

  11. The question wasn't every three years, it was every year since you had stated a rookie no longer needs two years since they were making the transition easier these days.
  12. So you want to draft a new QB in the first round every year until you find one that meets your standards?
  13. Why would another team give Teddy a chance to start when the Panthers, who were a bad team last season, are saying he wasn't good enough for them?
  14. And will want a big contract too. Mitch might prefer to give a long term extension to Monk or Graham, which should be cheaper, and using the leftover cap space for other players.
  15. You might be right, but the guy is on the team now. Give him a chance. If it works out, the FO look like masterminds. If it doesn't, odds are it puts them in a high draft pick next year and people can lose their minds all over again about that QB class.
  16. It has been no secret that the Panthers have been desperate for a new QB. The FO has been doing damage control for weeks now because of that. The GM did more of that today. They pulled this trade off because they don't like the QBs that might be available when they pick. They have Darnold for two years and might just think he can be the franchise guy. That would be why they want to make things easier for him.
  17. For those hoping the Panthers will still draft a QB in the first round this year, I think you're going to be disappointed. It makes zero sense to trade for a young QB and then draft another one so that he has to look over his shoulder right out of the gates.
  18. Thanks for transcribing this. I'm glad they didn't make a trade they weren't crazy about. In years past, that is something the Hornets would have done. I'm torn on giving Rozier a new contract. He has played well enough to earn one, but on the other hand, the team is still a ways off before they are a consistent winner. It might be best to trade him while he has a high value and keep rebuilding while Ball, Washington, and Bridges are still developing.
  19. Bought this one last year. I don't much care for the heated seat and turn it off unless it's really cold in the house, but the dryer is nice.

  21. The Panthers are in year two of a rebuild. There is a ton of time left to groom a non first round QB if they want to go that route since they warned it would take five years to rebuild. With the timeline the team has said they are on, there is no need to draft a QB in a later round and then in the first the very next year. If they can groom the guy into a quality backup or starter, they win. If the later round QB doesn't pan out, they still have their draft picks to keep building the team for when they decide to move up like the Chiefs did. Of course, this is all mute if they are hellbent on drafting a QB in round one regardless of price this year.
