  1. They've had their poo together the last 3-4 years. Even before drafting LaMelo, they were playing a more fun and exciting version of basketball. LaMelo has helped put them over the top. They do need to start making more cuts to the basket instead of standing around the 3 point line though.
  2. I feel the same. Those were very simple things to do that distracted most folks though.
  3. All of those things helped Tepper's bottomline.
  4. Come on. He put the logo at midfield and took away the NFL shield. He also removed Jerry's statue. Fans wanted those things. That said, those were softballs that anyone could get right. His decisions when it comes to coaches and GMs leave something to be desired though.
  5. But it helps Tepper's bottomline, which is far more important to him.
  6. Maybe they just have odd ideas about building a contender. Tepper, Rhule, and Fitt strike me as the sorts that think they can out think everybody else. Having a little ego can be a good thing. Having a lot of ego is often not a good thing. And I think we're seeing the later. As for publicly saying they expect to make the playoffs, I can't ever think of an owner, GM, or coach say otherwise no matter if they knew it wasn't happening or not. Part of that might be showing confidence in their players, but odds are it's about keeping the fans coming to games to buy overpriced beer, merch, and food so the owner keeps making money.
  7. I should hope not since the boots belong to Cam. Seriously though, I didn't say Howell would be an elite or franchise QB. But he would be someone that could excite a huge part of the population due to being a UNC guy and also a hometown(state) kid. Never underestimate people's desire to see a local person make good nor their willingness to give said person time to do so.
  8. There might be a Sam Howell for all the UNC homers though. And I don't doubt Tepper will push for him to help sell tickets next year.
  9. Nah. When Rhule was hired Tepper stated this was a 5 year rebuild and that it would take time to turn things around. If you expected a magic turnaround in year two, then your expectations were too high. When they traded for Darnold, I said he should get the chance to prove he had what it takes. They gave him that chance and it hasn't given good results. Others said not to expect much from Darnold based off his past. Yet, people got fooled by a 3-0 start against bad teams playing with rookie QBs making their first starts and a depleted Saints team with a bad QB. That led to some having even higher expectations. People need to learn to manage their expectations better and consider all the facts while doing so and not letting blind hope cloud their judgement. You're correct that Darnold hasn't made the offense better. Part of it is on the coaching/scheme/playcalling and the rest is on his surrounding cast. They refuse to run the ball to take some pressure off him. The Panthers have fielded the worst Oline I've ever seen from them and that's saying a lot considering some of the stinkers of the past. Darnold's release valve(CMC) is out once again. His WRs are dropping passes right and left and he has no dependable TEs to help. The rest is on him though. Darnold just doesn't appear to have what it takes between the ears to be a franchise QB. As I've stated since before the draft, rebuild the Oline and add talent to the rest of the team. And I don't mean trading back for a lot of late round picks to churn the bottom of the roster. Add top talent early in the draft. Once, the Oline is at an average level, then go in on a rookie QB or see if they could talk a good vet into signing with the Panthers to make a superbowl run. Until then, let the team take their lumps and enjoy whatever you can from the games.
  10. Yeah, they could have just said they see BC as a guard in the NFL instead of tackle. Simpler language and people would have an easier time understanding what they meant. And if they were planning on extending Robby, they should have passed on TMJ. I remember reading a rumor they took him just to keep the Saints from taking him. If that's true, it's a stupid reason for wasting the draft pick considering all the other needs the team has.
  11. Are you in the locker room listening to the players say they have no confidence in him? Are you in the front office listening to Fitt and Tepper saying the same thing? If not, you don't know if Rhule has lost it. Our(the fans) opinion does not matter. Tepper and Co are well aware that the fans will keep showing up. If it gets to a point that the fans don't show up, Tepper will move the team and not give a crap.
  12. They're not going to worry about the fanbase as they know they'll be right back next season. Rhule and Tepper both don't strike me as the types to admit to a mistake or walk back a decision. Look for them to show a lot of interest in Howell during draft time since not only is he a UNC guy, but a hometown(state) kid as well. People will turn out in droves for him his first year if he becomes a Panther.
  13. Nah. It's just happening now and a lot of you guys are too wound up about the Panthers thanks to the 3-0 start. That start was fools gold and a lot of folks had convinced themselves it was the real thing. Everyone knew Fox's last year was a lost cause before the season even started since JR refused to release him since he(JR) didn't want to pay two coaches. That knowledge showed in the coaching staff, FO, players, and fans that year. It is still the worst season the Panthers have had.
  14. If you made it through lame duck Fox with Jimmy Clausen as the QB, you can make it through now. Some of you guys are
  15. Yeah, that's not happening. Unless Tepper dies or finds someone willing to pay him a lot more than he paid for the Panthers, he's going no where.
  16. If that happens, it won't take 4-5 weeks to do so. If Robbie and DJ have started making business decisions the last couple weeks on certain throws, it won't take long to go from that to just not trying at all. The rest of the team will do the same. May take two weeks or less depending on how all this affects the team's morale.
  17. I don't think they need to make rush decisions about getting a QB. Looking at this upcoming QB class, they might be better off not taking one in the upcoming draft either. Odds are the Panthers will have a high draft pick again. Trade down to get a second and/or third rounder and use them on the Oline. If a trade down isn't possible, take the best Oline prospect in the first unless they are 100% on a QB prospect. But as someone else said, this staff might not be the right ones to select a QB. Same could be said for the Oline too. Either way, Rhule will probably be here two more years. Brady and probably Darnold will be the scapegoats for this season.
  18. This team is not just a QB away. The Oline is a huge weakness and the defense isn't as good as people think as has been proven the last few weeks. Special teams is still...special, just not in a good way. And to top all that off, the coaching staff appears in over their heads. That said, it's year two of the rebuild. Maybe they'll figure things out next season.
