Watching Rashawn Slater be great makes me sad and angry.
jayboogieman replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is no way of knowing that those trades would have been available when they drafted Horn. So, taking Horn still makes sense since corner was a big need too. Personally, I would have taken Slater since I believe he would have impacted the game more if he played every game as part of the Oline that impacts every offensive snap. Corners, no matter how good, don't impact every defensive snap. -

But what if the coaches played Slater at guard and Erving at tackle? Or vice versa? Either way might have improved the interior line as well. -
The Oline gave me concern, and then there was the Darnold question, so that's why I thought 7-9.
-
Perhaps. Enjoy this video though.

I wanted Oline early and often in the draft too, but The draft is over and done with. Dwelling on what might have been isn't going to help this team and will probably only depress you. -
Yep. This is a 7-9 win team.
-
Fixed that for you. Doesn't matter who is the QB as the Superbowl proved if the Oline can't protect them.
-
I don't think they'll get both if they move on from Darnold next offseason. Odds are, Darnold stays another season, they improve the Oline and add even more to the defense. Then move on from Darnold the year after if they decide he isn't the guys and use picks to select a top prospect like the Chiefs did with Mahomes.

Matt Rhule just showed us his true colors.

I'm out of pie, but yeah, that one too. -

Don't forget it is what it is. -
The score may say it was close, but the team collapsed in the second half. Despite trying to give the game away themselves, the Eagles were the better team in the second half and won.
-
I'm not mad, upset, or disappointed. I'm merely...feeling whatever. Parts of the game were fun, parts weren't. On to the next one.

Barely losing? The Eagles came from behind and took the win away from the Panthers. Even at full strength, the Panthers are not a playoff team. The Oline is too bad and some of us said they shouldn't have signed Erving and Elf on the first day of free agency. Even fully healthy, the Oline didn't look good. Sam is probably not the long term answer at QB either. I said when Sam was traded for, he should get this chance they are giving him. Early returns were promising, but he has looked pretty bad the more games are played. Like David Carr all those years ago, maybe Sam's time in NY ruined him as a starter.
-
The thing is that the Panthers are in the same class as those teams. It's only year 2 of the rebuild. All the talk about playoffs was way too premature.
-
That is a long standing Panthers tradition. Why change it now?
-
Some of us have been saying that all season. 7-9 wins.
-
Two runs and an incomplete pass. That's the Panthers' way.
-
Silver lining: At least the kicker has had a good day.
-
That was a classic Ron and Foxball third down call
-
That's the offense
-
Chuba with the excellent balance
-
Are you sure about that? Because they aren't playing like it.
